Poem competition results

The poem competition arranged by Max Payne Dev is over, and it's time to announce the winner! There were many wonderful entries, and we had a hard time selecting the best of the best. After an endless debate and a lot of funny and even a bit sad moments, we came to an agreement.

And the winner is...

'The Poet's' at christmas

by petespencer

Tis the night before christmas
And logging online
To a site that i visit
A lot of the time:
"Two cd's ive wanted!
A wonderful gift!
'Late goodbye's' awesome,
And i havent heard 'lift'."
I own neither singles,
I'm British by birth
And i can't seem to buy them
On this part of earth.
So pondering over
The words that best fit,
I work on a poem
To win me free kit.
"What rhymes with 'The Poets'?"
"The rhythm's all wrong!"
"This stanza's ill matching,
The fluency's gone!!"
I'm failing to flatter,
Show skill or impress;
And I'm saddened to submit
Such prosaic mess.
So the night before christmas,
Straight after my dinner;
I'm writing this poem,
Please claim me the winner!!

Congratulations petespencer - you will be contacted by the staff of Max Payne Dev soon! The judges argued that the winning poem "tells a heartbreaking story, while never losing the brilliant poetic rhythm". Also, a big thanks to everyone else who participated! It's a shame we could only select one winner..

You can download a text file with all the entries to enjoy even more poetry!
