Ok...so a list then:
YUP
Smak (Kyllä...olen 22 vuotias ja pidän Smakista...ihan Perke***sti)
Disco Ensemble
HIM
The Rasmus (The more internationally known albums aren´t even NEARLY as good as the first two.)
Crumbland (well as far as I know they don´t even have an album out yet but "Feel You" is a great song!)
Apulanta (uus Kiila on kyl pikkasen ollu pettymys)
Kilpi ("Hevi on Parasta!")

I´m sure that I forgot a few..if you´re wondering why some of the comments are in finnish and some in english, well I didn´t see the point of writing the comments in english for bands that don´t sing in english..

Manboy. CMX. Kotiteollisuus. Happoradio. Viikate. Mokoma. Liekki. Clumsy. Maj Karma. HIM. Sadetanssi. Suburban Tribe. YUP, altho I prefer Jarkko's solo album. And I like Sipe's solo, but not Apulanta.

Some of these I deeply adore, some of them I just like a bit. And I'm sure I forgot a dozen.

8)

Hi all :)
Remember me? :)

Actually Finns have plenty of good and world-wide-known bands.
What I remembered and was mentioned here before:

-Apocalyptica (should give up drum and play only cellos)
-Hanoi Rocks (rocks :))
-HIM (well, it is a well known band ;))
-Poets of the Fall (y'all know :))
-Sonata Arctica (not my style, but great band though)
-Stratovarius (they're back again ;))
-The 69 Eyes (very ToN-alike ;))
-The Rasmus (the feather in hair is kinda too much for my delicate self )

I'd say also Lullacry (I think they're Finnish - am I right?). Not an "outstanding" band, rather "solid". "Crucify my heart" is veeeery nice :)
And Don Huonot :) I like their music, even though I do not quite understand all of what they sing about :) They sound to me very similar to Polish rock band Golden Life (but the "old" Golden Life ;))

By the way, dare to name any well-known Polish band? Except for Vader  of course :D

Thanks Tiia for mentioning Suburban Tribe!!!
May I add Kyyria, SUT-singer Ville Tuomi's former band to the list. Their albums Alien and especially Inner wellness still work for me at least.

And hasn't anyone mentioned Timo Rautiainen & Trio Niskalaukaus yet???

Maybe there is reason behind it.

Maybe they suck?

How can you people talk about Finnish rock'n'roll and heavy metal and not mention TERÄSBETONI!

I saw Kilpi perform live and they impressed me...I wasn't impressed when I heard them on the radio but a live show did it.

And nobody should mention Paleface or Redrama without knowing Second Class Citizens which by far happens to be the most skillful rap crew in Finland (they rap in Finnish).

Zen Café, Stam1na even Kotiteollisuus and Viikate...because I'm primarily a rap fan I feel ashamed that Finland doesn't have many rap acts that could be taken seriously.

They don't have an option to edit messages so I have to double post. If you haven't heard of Secod Class Citizens, visit www.secondclass.cjb.net and read the History section....you can't read that without laughing, it's guaranteed

Hmmm, I mentioned Teräsbetoni...

And there are a lot of rap acts I just didn't find worthy mentioning EXACTLY cos they do it Finnish. But now that I'm at it, I'll mention Tulenkantajat <3

Welcome to the forum!

EDIT: There is an edit option, opens from that upper right corner ;)

I think there must be a bug of one kind cus there is no edit option, only quote option. When I was talking about Second Class Citizens I meant they do rap in ENGLISH but I mistakenly wrote Finnish. That makes them more understandable for non-Finnish listeners...but it's kinda heavily rap only crew...unlike Paleface or Redrama who take flavours from other music styles these guys are straight up punchline rap artists. But read the history section still, that's some ridiculous text they have there.

EDIT: hahaha....after I sent this message it suddely appeared, the edit option I mean. I guess you have to send like 3 messages before your able to edit one.

Hey, you don't have to feel guilty because of that :)

Don't really listen to Timppa & Niskavillat at home, either, but their powerful guitars and great lyrics always work live.

But _Rocktum_??? Now I'm extremely tempted to recommend a very evil band called Anal 2 from the darkest seams of Oulu city, but I just can't do it...

I can't believe anyone haven't mentioned Lemonator yet... I consider them inconsistent, but Grandpop is an album worth _worshipping_. So my list (even though i'm not finnish i'll get my butt in here):

Lemonator
The Rasmus (not the latest album... but the rest)
Sonata Arctica (metal like it should be!)
Amorphis (new singer, very interesting!)
HIM (so good...)
Charon (did anyone mention them yet? if not, shame on you)
4r
Manboy
Poets of the fall (of course)
+ others that i listen to from time to time...

You really have so much fantastic music in finland. There is a certain feel to finnish music that appeals to me greatly. Your metal is exactly what i want, and the general feel of the music is always so melancholic. We swedes have alot to be proud of too, but our music is generally in a different vein. I know about tons of swedish groups and artists that people outside of sweden (and most people in sweden as well) are unaware of that are amazing, and there are loads that are both famous and fabulous, but that's beside the point. All i'm saying is - you have alot of music to feel proud about, in my eyes.
