Hey everyone, I'm learning to play the guitar and I'm currently addicted to "Someone Special" (just makes me think so much of that ...someone special, and very sad memories).

Anyway, if anyone could help me with the chord progression that would be great, as I'm very bad at listening for those.

Thanks a lot!

I can help you a little bit...

The verse goes like this:

E--B--C#(minor)--A
E--B--G#(minor)--A

Two times through

The chorus starts with E...

That's all I can tell you right now... I play it and try if I can tell you more later.... Good luck with this lovely song! :D

I found the intro/verse at ultimateguitar.com
Sounds pretty good to me, but then again, I have lousy ears...

The ultimateguitar.com intro of Illusion&dream sounds a bit odd in my ears when I play it but on the other hand I'm just learning to play tabs...

Thanks so much Cinderella.

So it would go something like this?

E________B___________C#m________A
I wake up to the sound of rain upon my sill
E_________B__________G#m_______A
Pick up the pieces of my yesterday old thrill
E___________B_____________
Can I deliver this used up shiver
C#m____A_____________
To how I pronounce my life
E____________B_______G#m________A
And leave it up to faith to go by its own will

Any correction would be greatly appreciated (sorry I'm really bad at listening for these things, and have only started playing guitar a couple months)

It goes like that.

Don't worry, Leo. You will become a better listener if you practise. Believe me, it's not so difficult(if you are at least a little bit musical  )... Anyway, Practice makes perfect... :D

Now I have the chorus for Someone Special...

E-----------------Bm
Back row to the left
---------------A
A little to the side
----------------C#m
Slightly out of place
-------------------F#
Look beyond the light
------------------------Am
Where you'd least expect
--------------------E
There's someone special

E--Bm--A--C#m--F#--Am--E

And the C-part(as I call it) goes like this...

-----C#m-B------------------A
And she's here to write her name
--------B------------------------C#m
On my skin with kisses in the rain
----------B--------------------A
Hold my head and ease my pain
-----C#m-----------------B----------C#m--B--A--B----
In a world that's gone insane... (insane..insane..insane....)

E--Bm--A--C#m--F#--Am--E

And the rest of the song you already know...

I believe I only had A in the chorus instead of Am...
But the intro is

C#m-----------Am
C#m-----------A
Right?

You may be right... It's isn't a bit difference between A and Am but I listened it again and I think it's A insted Am...

Actually, I think it's more or less C#m on the top with the bass going C#-B-A-B. Of course there's so much going on in there that you can really interpret it in variety of ways, but playing pure major and minor chords sounds a little too "pure", at least to my ears. :) The same applies to the intro of the song too.

If you mean the last chord of the chorus, that's definitely A minor. :)

You maybe know better, Admin, but I still think it's C#m in the "and she's here to write her name...." -part..

There isn't a big difference between those chords... It sounds a bit sad to me so it's Am...

Exactly, that's what I said, or meant. :) It sounds like C#m plays on the top through the whole C-part, with the bass going C#-B-A-B. You can of course play it with just pure chords like C#m-B-A-B, but to my ears something is missing if you play it like that..

There isn't a big difference between A major and minor...? To me, major sounds completely wrong.. plus the melody seems to go A-C-E, which is essentially the A minor chord. Just try singing that over A major. :)

As i said, you know better... and A-C-E really is Am.. :D

You won't ever be listening when I play so.. does it really matter if I play C#m or C#... When I play bassguitar I only play C#(I can't plau the whole chords with bass... ) but when I play guitar I surely play C#m, it sounds better to me..

Yes, bass naturally plays only single notes. I guess the correct way to mark the chords would be something like this (chord / bass note):

C#m / C# - C#m / B - C#m / A - C#m / B

Never say never...

Just about to say that. But, hey everybody! More proof that captain is admin right here. He could always just say "I'm not Captain," and I would be happy, but, he never does.

Thank you, Admin, again... So, I play only C#m with guitar in the C-part and bass goes down... Understood. Thank you! *goes and corrects the mistakes on the paper*
