When I first listened to 15 Min Flame, I thought I had listened to this tune before. After listening the intro of keyboard many times, I tried to remember it but after a week I remembered that it resembles U2's October. It's from U2's second studio album October released in 1981. I don't have a copy of the CD but I got 'October' track in my copy of U2's The Best of 1980–1990. October is a hidden 15th track on the CD.

As POTF said that their favourite bands include Pink Floyd, U2, Metallica etc etc so naturally we find resemblence in few tracks. Please note that the word 'Resemblence' should not be interpreted as copying. I actually loved '15 Min Flame' and I was amazed when I found similarity in piano notes of '15 Min Flame' & 'October'. Not the whole song but intro of both tracks resembles each other.

Here's the link of U2's October video. They performed it 'Live at Red Rocks: Under a Blood Red Sky' in May 1983.
'The Edge' played it on piano.

I would like to say thank you POTF for the new album. "Twilight Theater" is the most creative album POTF ever made.

:)

:)

It might be so as guys from POTF are not the first on the Earth to write music :) Besides Marko said a million times that their music was a combination of different music genres, styles, or whatever they had been listening to.
By the way, does Marko’s vocal in Late Goodbye resemble James Hetfield’s style in a way? Some of my friends say it does… One day I found their bossa-nova version of Sorry Go'Round on YouTube, so who I shall compare them with now? Or may be… :P
To my mind POTF just take in the best what can be found in music and the best what we can do is to enjoy their creations and to develop our music tastes :)
I'm gladly joining your special thanks to POTF for their TT album, which stroke deeply to my heart.

No it doesn't. I have been listening to U2 for a long time and now POTF and the only resemblance between the two songs is they are both written by the two best rock groups ever and sung by the two best rock singers ever.

Haha sorry Snow. I'm stalking your posts. That's what boredom will do to you. :P

I think U2 and POTF are very alike, personally. I mean, they definitely have major lyrical differences and the styles are not always the same, but there is definitely a similarity in overall sound. My mom agreed when I had her listen to POTF. She said they reminded her a lot of U2.

Hey Em! Stop stalking me! Just kidding!

There styles are similar but those songs don't sound the same to me.

Now if Bono and Marko could get together and write a song.......Wow!

There is some(very minor IMO) resemblance but i would have never discovered that if you would not have pointed it out.

This said, both are great songs and both are great bands.

@SAREK

Yes I would of course say the styles are a bit similar but that is all.

And yes both songs are fantastic and of course so are the bands!

From a musical point of view, the only common thing is the first minor->sus2 chord change, and that's it. I'd say everything else is in your head.

AHHH I JUST HAD AN AHA MOMENT!

Listen to Playground's "Different Light" and then Five For Fighting's "100 Years". The piano part at the beginning sounds extremely similar.

I have to say something on this topic.

I don't listen to songs from this group or that group and think Oh this song by group B sounds like a song by group A.

There are so many bands out in the world and to compare them is unfair.

Many bands have listened to and are influenced but many others and that is how music continues on and evolves.

Even back in the days of classical music composers were influenced and admired others.

POTF have their own unique sound and that is why I am a fan and why I am here.

U2 is one of my favorite bands and I belong to their site and listen to their music as well (although I am only listening to POTF right now).

Listen to the first 15 seconds of both of these songs again from the links down below.

Of course from musical POV, as POTF says "Words are such fickle visions...so pay attention to body language..." :P

Yes it is minor. Sometimes this kind of scenario gives me the deja vu effect. Especially during first listen, it happens for few songs in my head. I need to think & feel more from the heart as my name says Hardik.

Can't really say I understand why this topic was brought back up after 2 years, but that doesn't really matter much to me.
I altered the post above (Hardik's post) to remove the links there. The rules of this forum say
"Don't post offensive, illegal or copyrighted material - not even links to them." and even though such links aren't always removed, I try to discourage them as much as I can. Let's all try to keep it to minimum, ok? If you want to refer to a particular song, you can simply give the name of the artist and the song title and it will be enough for people to be able to look it up themselves if they want.

I was browsing through my old posts in this forum & I came across this only thread where I have not replied in the already started conversation. Hence I replied. I know it's old but I did it because I saw people getting wrong impression in a sense which I never meant to convey.

That's alright. Those were YouTube links of the copyrighted songs hence it violates the laws. And it was mistake from my side to post them. I apologize for that.

:)

I had to register to say this... Totally agree with the Admin. Im a musician, composer and producer and I find both songs completely different and it doesnt matter if they have a chord in common.
