Hey guys, I don't know how many of you are still subscribed to poet's newsletter, but in any case here's what they wrote on the last one regarding the release of ToT in Germany:

It definitely will be worth the wait, rumor has it that you can expect something more on that album edit.

That sounds great!!! Do we have to expect a bonus track? Certainly hope so!!! 8)

It could be something else too though. Like CiL music video and if there's possibly going to be another one coming up as well. Or a new cover version of some awesome song. A totally different booklet. You never know, it's best not to jump into conclusions when POTF is concerned... They're very good at coming up with surprises! :D

If the only legal way to get this bonus stuff is to buy the album (again), then I'll get it the only other way possible. I will support the band wherever I can, but I'm not a cow...

It's not at all uncommon for any band to release different versions of the album in different countries. POTF isn't doing this for "milking" anyone from their money, but it's usual that the countries where the album comes out later get something special. It's probably also something to do with marketing in that specific country.
Let's take Nightwish for example. Their album Once (2004) had 32 different publications. I can't swear they were all different, but there were several limited editions, specialties, bonus CD editions and so on. My source is Nightwish book (2006) by Mape Ollila, published by Like.

As of yet, POTF isn't quite in this level yet, so I'd save the complaints for later... :)
(Wholeheartedly hoping they might get to that point!)

The question is not whether you or I are going to buy the new version of the album. Think in larger scales - there are a lot more people listening to POTF and most of them are unlikely to be keen on the idea to buy something again for just one song. The torrents come and people get it for free. It's not a great loss for POTF actually, but it's more about losing profits. Like Alchemy contained only two new songs, but at least it was possible to get them legally for those not so devoted fans.

I just hope POTF will not try something that stupid. I'm okay if the German version contains new material as long as it possible to get in fair and easy. So Germans will get extra bonus for free because of the waiting, and the rest of the world could get the new stuff.

I don't see why this could be something to discuss at all: every band does 'special edition', and POTF have never done one, in a whole 4album&1bestof career :|

And this isn't even a different version just for the sake of having a special edition, but there are instead real reasons for it: it's from a different label, in a different situation and in a country where one song was released with a different mix, so at least that will have to be different.
Then there might be other changes or not.. no idea. But even having only that change would make perfect sense. Just as having another bonus track, or having both versions of KL, or adding some live or acoustic version of something, or video(s), even having an older song that hadn't been released in Germany (yeah, I'm playing with all kind of hypothesis :P )... any of these could just make perfect sense to me :)

Guys, just chill out and wait for what's to come. Really no need for any conspiracies... :)

Why can't we just enjoy a little round of Titanic in SUPER 3D?!

Why is everyone sure it is a new track? Could be they put late goodbye as a bonus track. Other Finnish bands did it before... [hint]Negative[/hint]

Hehehe......ok really the only thing I took away from this whole thread was the 3D video of the Titanic! :D I never even saw the movie, cause I know how it all ended, but I sure am glad I saw the video!

Sorry, off topic

Oh gawd yes. Just look at Radiohead. As their fan & collector I love and hate them for releasing millions of different versions of each album and single (most of them for different countries of course), but I never thought of it as milking for money :) I just thought it's something they've thought about carefully, like which song works for which country and at what time, and so on.

I only find it super awesome that I have a fun hobby: trying to get my hands on everything Radiohead-y that's out there :D

I understand it perhaps too well. I have over 200 different releases by Nine inch nails from all over the world (and still aiming towards 250). I hoped it won't be the same with POTF. But i already know i want australian editions of theirs.

I'm trying to preorder the German album but I can't understand the language and it keeps giving me big red warnings that I don't understand, lol. I will keep trying or find another way to buy it, cuz I will have this.

If you can be patient until I'm back from my Finland vacation on May 7th, I can guide you through it, but I don't have time before that, sorry.
It's Amazon, it works the same way as the US Amazon, i.e. all the buttons should be in the same place. Even your login should work if you have one (at least my German login works for the US site).
You might have to pay customs - I know I have to if I order CDs from the US.

Oh and please make some screenshots of the warnings for me.

while ordering from amazon.de, you could open another window with the amazon in your language, and go as if you were to buy something from there too: that's what I did ^^
the steps and messages will all be the same :)
