Those live Kiev photos are fantastic! Tiia is amazing as usual, and she uses the lighting to her advantage, which makes for some really awesome and surreal pics! Thanks Tiia! :D

Hello,

I'm new here in the forum and I have a question regarding the beautiful photos:
Is it allowed to take photos with a DSLR-camera during a concert? I'm asking because there are sometimes concerts (of other) artists where no DSLR is allowed....

Best regards

The band themselves don't mind people taking photos, but some concert halls and clubs might have a problem with professional (read: dslr) cameras. Rarely in Finland though.. festival gigs are a totally different thing, for them you usually need a press pass or a photo permit.

Maybe you could check with the club beforehand?

Oh, and I think it's safe for me to say the band appreciates photos taken WITHOUT a flash :)

It depends. I have found that most clubs in Finland allow the DSLR in. So did the Club in Kiev. At Open Airs it is mostly not allowed.
They guys allow it, but the venue may not.

Thank you very much for your answers! :)

That's what I have in mind: Taking photos WITHOUT a flash with my DSLR (I don't like concert-photos taken with flash). It's only a hobby of me and I'm an amateur photographer.
I'll be at the POTF-concert tomorrow in Vantaa and I'd like to take some photos there. That was the reason for my question...

Well, flash photography is not allowed anyway: here are the rules

Without a flash you should be fine. :)

It's a good thing also to ask about gig places about using a professional camera.

In example I sent some mail to Finlandia-klubi about is it ok to photograph with a systems camera in there and the answer was: "Photographing with systems camera is allowed, if you use the pictures (you have taken) in your own use use and if you don't disturb the others."
I guess it's ok to use a camera I have, it's Canon EOS 1100D :|

--> I'm using a Nikon D5000. I hope the objective I'm using is good enough for indoor-concert-photography. I've never tried it... It's a TAMRON 17-50mm F/2.8 :|

I have only an objective which came with the camera and I hope also it's good for indoor-concerts. And I have to practice taking pictures a little bit before the concert in Lahti (I mean the different photographing modes in the camera) :)

Btw, about those newest photos, they're great :D

That will be perfect. It's a pretty good objective. I'm using a Nikon D5000 too with a Nikkor 24-70 1:2,8 and that works well. In Kiev I used the 35mm1:1,8 one though.
