It's not at the ending :) It's at 3:10 if I'm right..

You can clearly hear something, but first time listening to Skin it sounded like the talking in 15 Min Flame... You know there's something being said but you can't hear what.

Finally and my opinion :) This time I'll be serious.

Something beautiful has been planted in my soul. This album did not hit me in the head right after like Revolution Roulette did (the only album to date that stunned me, can't explain why). This album is hard to swallow not because the music or the style, it's the lyrics that are, like one of our forum members said: "like peeking into someone else's love letter". It describes not a bunch of love stories, it tells how usually the flow of one single love story goes, from the very beginning to the the very end... and goes even beyond what happens after the end. Instead of reviewing every single song, I'll tell you my love story, that went through exactly the same.
First was the impatience of what the first love could reveal to me. I was acting like this is a dream that is gonna end in a few moments when the alarm went off. After that, I was calmer and more confident in me. I tried to give my best to protect my love, to give my all for her. At some point, problems appeared. We had a lots of fights. But we still loved each other. And suddenly I was out of my sweet heaven, we broke up. Currently I'm at the state of hating her so much for leaving me. But in the moments I don't hate her, I miss her so much.
The album goes exactly in the same direction:
1 - the impatience - Running out of Time
2 - giving your all - Temple of Though
3 - problems, but still having love - Cradled in Love ("Don't cry for your love")
4 - the brake up - Kamikaze Love ("You raise me high to tear me down")
5 - the hatred - The Lie Eternal
6 - missing her so much - Skin
7, 8, 9 - searching for new love
The Ballad of Jeremiah Peacekeeper is very special song (and my favorite of ToT). I just hope that Marko has someone to his side to love him, because this song screams this need so much.

I'm pretty sure lots of people here went through this too. Marko did unbelievable work of capturing all of the colors. When listen to this, you can say too "Yeah, I've been through exactly the same (but can't put it in such beautiful words)".
The music is excellent, Olli and Kapu are giving their best to keep up with Marko's lyrics. I can consider this as a conceptual album - it's not just bunch of songs, it's a life story. And it happened to be told by the 3 of the best story tellers.

Wow, Arvigeus, such a good review, I haven't thought about it this way. Thank you for that insight.

@Arvigeus

Your review is stunning. I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes because you put it into such wonderful words. And you are so right: "I know the feelings" - even I'm in a relationship which is very solid - I went through all these different emotions. The ups and downs in everyones (love) life.

Perhaps now it gets more clear for me why I fall every day with another song of this album in love. It's reminiscence of all the different states of love I experienced during my life.

You really gave me some impulses for my Temple of Thought. Thank you :-)

I think redbossfan's review was saying pretty much the same - ToT describes the love in all it's forms. But all credits should go to POTF

Here are my thoughts about Temple of Thought. I got it on Wednesday but haven't been able to use a computer so far, but I've had time to listen to the songs again and again... and again.

The fifth album is different and unique like others, but I can hear the connection between ToT, SoL and CoR. For me the impression of ToT is sorrowful, strong and purely beautiful. The album makes me feel pain and sadness but also absolute freedom – it's like unhappy happiness (I'm apparently using contrasts, too). I have so many actual pictures about this feeling in my head, I hope I could draw or paint something that beautiful and show to you. Anyway, now I understand why many people said the album is like a rollercoaster of emotions.

Running Out of Time – I knew the style of this one, this is how a POTF song called 'Running Out of Time' should sound like. The name fits perfectly. ROot is very energetic, strong and tempts me to move and smile and have fun, and it really calls me – 'come with me, let's go to a trip you'll never forget!' Singing, guitars, tricks, everything's great.

Temple of Thought –This is a song I fell in love with when I heard the first notes and I get chills every time when Marko sings 'chills...'. The lyrics make me feel wistful and I love the guitar solo near the end.

Cradled in Love - Makes me smile and feel sad at the same time. I love especially the falsetto and the drums. CiL is very important for me because it reminds of that beautiful night/moment - maybe the most beautiful I've ever seen - I told about in one thread, besides, I think CiL is delicate, sweet, unselfish, pure, different, and feels like a slow, warm and safe flow that cradles me softly...

Kamikaze Love – Someone asked, so yeah, this ROCKS! First I didn't like it that much, but it has grown to me – actually, I think I fell in love today. I just find that funny that KL sounds pretty rocking and heavier, but I always remember it as a soft ballad with a slight touch of something heavy. (Hey, where the angles fall? :P *runs and hides*)

The Lie Eternal – I love the drums and the guitar in the beginning. And then the singing comes along... Oh my, Marko really can sing and knows how to use his voice... TLE is definitely one of my most favorites from the album. It lulls me to sleep. (By the way, first I heard Marko singing 'penguins is upon this' when it was 'pin wishes upon this'.)

Skin - I can listen to Skin neither without tears falling down my cheeks… It's very sad and sure one of the most beautiful songs that I know. That's all - Skin's too sacred, I can't say more. :(

The Distance is a dream! Perfect, heartbreaking, the dream of dreams... I love the guitar - it reminds of Shallow, but not too much, I think (and Shallow's one of my most favorite songs, too) and Captain has done some amazing magic tricks, again.

Show Me This Life – The guitar!! :D This is one of the songs from ToT that somehow makes me happy, and one reason for this might be the guitar – Olli challenges me! SMTL also gets stuck in my head; I yell it out always after listening.

Morning Tide – Slow, soft, peaceful and strong. Marko's voice is deep and intensive, guitar playing very affective, and the drums in the beginning of the chorus almost make me sink into sleep. I love how Dawn and MT (and I'd count Sleep in, too) form like a small story.

The Ballad of Jeremiah Peacekeeper – Breaks limits, reaches a totally new level and fights with Skin for the title of the most beautiful and sad song, if you ask me. And no song has made me cry as genuinely as TBoJP does.
The music is sorrowful, beautiful and magnificent and so are the lyrics. The electric guitar is tearing and perfect and... What can I say anymore? This song is just something absolutely unbelievable.

The Happy Song – I wrote a long post about THS when it was released, but have to say, this one's simply perfect.

In the end all I can do is to thank Poets – I bet no other band can do the same as you do. You're awesome! Keep it rockin'!

And the booklet's centerfold is awesome

And some negative opinion from me that I think we all agree: This album misses pure acoustic song.

I've just read Marko's interview (made by POTF's Russian Fun Club), he said that his FAVORITE song from the new album is... THE LIE ETERNAL!!!

YES!!! I KNEW THAT!!! It's MY favorite song!!! That's why I feel something SPECIAL when I hear it...

I'm so happy that me and Marko think the same )))

To those who either are addicted to ToT or not, due to my most recent experiment on the album, if you just stop listening to it and also any other kind of music for four days and then put your earphones on again, you'll find Temple of Thought the fairest album!! (recommended) 8)

Ok, I'm not really ready for a review, now. Not easy thing at all, to manage the ToT matter, at the moment. But Arvigeus' post inspired me, somehow, so here are some... things about and please, don't be mad with me for my being a bit "superficial", once again...

Sure, our own life experiences lead us to different interpretations about songs' meaning and a single love story as ToT main theme might fit. But to me the song Temple of Thought doesn't sound as a love already being lived and happy. It seems to me that the character is opening his heart to a sort of love-call someone sent/gave him, probably after thinking of it quite a lot (the character). So, if you want to consider a single love story, you should put ToT song as first song of the story; but then this love story, here, would be told through its beginning and its end, missing a so very important part of it, when they felt so good together... There's not a song about that. Made on purpose... might be, we're talking about Poets of the Fall, so...

HOWEVER,

I can see an awesome movie: TEMPLE OF THOUGHT

Direction by Me, writing&music by Poets of the Fall. 8)

There's a huge love that comes to its end, in such a sorrowful way for the main character,
Running Out of Time,
Morning Tide (Actually most of the lyrics could fit the second part of the movie, too. But "Leaving behind all our sorrow and pride" and "Love is still here. Never will it leave. You're always with me, and I'm always with you.", make it fit better here... Even if I'm not so sure about the place, cos it could fit also at another point of this first part of the story, but it'd be too complicated and poor character!...),
Skin ("I was finally ready to meet you half way" - I see a connection with Morning Tide),
The Distance ("Across the distance I still see your flame"),
Cradled in Love ("So with the fire still burning bright").

So, it seems like he was able to let her go, finally. But he's totally devastated (just look at Zoltar in CiL video, at the end...), he still loves her and he will always love her...

But he has to go on and he knows he won't be able to do that alone.
Here, you can have two versions and that's my favorite:
He is aware there's someone who loves him, or at least says to love him, so he wanna try to live this new love, but he's not sure about her, maybe. And if all that is just an illusion? But perhaps it can be true love and he needs love so much, to heal his wounds and this could be a good way. But what if she demanded too much? He's not ready for that, cos "that" fire is still burning bright, inside... And so here is a seesaw of different feelings:
Temple of Thought (I know that it's all about understanding"),
Kamikaze Love ("Miss Understanding..."),
The Lie Eternal,
Show Me This Life.

And behind all this Carnival of mixed emotions, it's him... Jeremiah Peacekeeper, on his knees... he need(s) your love... The Ballad of Jeremiah Peacekeeper

And when you have to pass such painful trials for long, you definitely need to be Psycho, to not lose your sanity... The Happy Song

Yep! I put in THS, too! And yep! I'm able to see things nobody can see... cos it might be they don't exist, actually...
I told you I'm a PSYCHO...

Something more serious when I'll be ready... :)

Just let me say that Temple of Thought is simply a Masterwork, in its all and what hits me the most (in addition to that beautiful soul, who bared his humanity in such a disarming way) is the sound. I can feel a sort of challenge, inside that... Yes, this ToT sound tastes of Challenge! But I need more time to deep the matter... :|

POTF tweeted yesterday: "ToT lyrics on our website? Yes, we'll post them a little later. Meanwhile, just check the booklet/PDF file that came with the CD/download." :)

I gotta say that I just LOVE the album! Sure it's not the same as Carnival of Rust etc. but artists grow like the rest of us and atleast I wanna change as I learn new.
I think the album is strong, but also weak in a good way.
There are no songs, that I don't like, but I wait the moments when I find the personal meanings to the songs so I can appreciate them more (even more than now, if that's possible).
The bottom of the line is this, I have a hell of a respect to these guys cos they know how to make you feel happy and kinda sad at the same time. They have the ability to dress up your own, personal feelings to a song. They can make you feel good even your world would be crashing down.
I feel pure love, there's no more words to say.

THANK YOU. <3

After listening to the album a few more times, I don't think there's one song on this labum I dislilke. The Ballad Of Jeramiah Peacekeeper takes a while to get into, but I still love it. If I had to choose favourites, they are probably:

Morning Tide - A beautfiul song, no question about it.

Temple Of Thought - Amazing. Absolutley amazing. The lyrics are deep and could have many meanings. Outstanding work from the Poets.

Running Out of Time - This song is great. It sort of tells the story of a relationship whirling out of control, with confusion as to why, but knowing that it's not going to last much longer - hence, 'Running Out Of Time'

Kamikaze Love - Clue in the name. I love this song, it has a great sound and feel to it. It's, in my opinion, the story of two people going into a relationship they know won't work, and know at the end of it all they will end up getting hurt, with the lyrics throughout the song hinting that the relationship described in the song is a second, or third, or fourth and so on try at a relationship, with the 'memory estate' that's mentioned throughout the song being where their past relationships memories lie, but they can't find the key to unlocking the reasons they cannot love again.

But I love all the others, too.

Great album :)

Its the greatest gift for my 22nd b-day) thank you sooo much, POTF! The album is great, but as always it feels like I need more time to understand and expirience it the way it should be done. I think it's the most important stuff I like about POTF, when you listen to their music again and again and you always find something new in it... it's just great!

@Claudia

You made a wonderful approach to the ToT lyrics. I love how you look at them. Somehow like a movie, which makes sense because all kind of images come to my mind when I listen to it.

And yes, the sound. For me it fits so well to every word. Sure, that's something Poets always have done perfectly but this time for me it's more than perfect - it's masterly.

I'm still not sure about "The Ballad of Jeremiah Peacekeeper". Perhaps this is a retrospection of all the different feelings that come with love - desire, passion, lust, confusion, disappointment etc. and in the end you will capitulate because of it or be able to grow. But anyhow you need to be loved to get something positive out of all what you have experienced.

First of all, hello:D ! This is my first post. i listen to potf from the release of revolution roulette but i didn't have an intention of chating because i found everything i seeked in the topics already started, but now i have a dilema. Some people say that kamikaze love is a sequel to diamonds for tears. So i am asking you; why doesn't this awesome song have a cool tag like that one? i am not 18 yet but i am planing of tattooing diamonds for tears logo on my forearm. I just love it. Can someone please make a logo? Or if there is one show it to me?

TL;DR: Diamonds for tears has a logo. Can this song have one too?

Hello komykiller, welcome to Poets of the Fall forum. As far as I know here hasn't been any kind of interview or statement where any of the POTF guys would say that Diamonds for Tears would be somehow connected to Kamikaze Love. Just because "some people" are saying it, doesn't make it true. It's just those people's personal opinion.

I don't think there's a logo for Kamikaze Love like there kind of is for Diamonds for Tears, but I guess if you would like to have one, maybe someone will design it for you (but remember, it's not going to be a POTF design like the one for Diamonds for Tears).

As for getting a tattoo (or a band related tattoo specifically) at such a young age, I think you should check this out: http://www.aux.tv/2010/04/dos-and-donts-of-the-band-tattoo/ And think carefully what you want tattooed and where and for what reason. :)

It went to Finnish album chart number 3 on this week (the first week). But how many copies it sold to get there, I have no idea. http://www.ifpi.fi/tilastot/virallinen-lista/

Wow :) Number one is coming closer! :D

My favourite song from the album so far is The Lie Eternal :) The beginning is just, yeah right on the spot! I simply love when there's only drum in the beginning :) and so hefty ^_^

Don't forget that Digistore sales are not included in charts. Of course, I was hoping for no1 too, especially after the shirt+CD combo got sold out. The stupid thing is that MDNA is first. I haven't listened the album, but knowing what craps she does now, I'm sure I'm not missing much. Well, if was for Adele - OK, but MDNA...

Aaa, that's the point! Buy physical copies, people! Don't forget this year is 2012, digital copies will all be faded...

I think MDNA should consider joining The Buranovskiye Babushki (Russia's Eurovision Winner), it's about time for her than embarrassing herself in such way.
