I think that the sigh at the end of Skin is the saddest moment in the whole song. On the album. And maybe among all the songs ever made by Poets...

Yeah, absolutely. Skin is just so beautiful. The poets are up so high I don't think I can ever see their zenith...

I bought Temple of thought album and I have listened it over and over again. It’s amazing album. I like almost all the songs, only The happy song and Running out of time aren’t my favorites. Most favorite songs are Cradle in love and The ballad of Jeremiah Peacekeeper. I think that Balance slays the demon song could have been better opener song of this album instead of Running out of time.

Great melodies and lyrics again.

Thank you POTF!

Ok, after a few listen throughs I have come to understand this: This is a brilliant album!
There is so much feeling, an abundance of deeper layers and effects. It's simply sublime!
I guess a top three for me would be (not in order)
Temple of Thought
The Distance
Morning Tide

Thank you guys for an excellent piece of work. I'll see you guys saturday 8) (\o/)

I have to say "skin" is one amazing song. There are so many beautiful yet tragic love songs on this album. Skin is one that touches my heart and life very closely ... since it is exactly what happened to me and my wife =(
She decided to up and leave us when I started working things out for myself and for us.
I will always love her =/
So this song brings me to tears.

I wish we'd ended up like morning tide.
That song gives me hope of what may come some day =)

Gosh, I love the poets!

Have just listened to the album for the first time :) Will post some of my thoughts later once I've gathered them haha. Skin stands out immediately for me just on the first listening. I think it'll secure it's place as a favourite fairly soon. :D

Love the photo! very intruiging... wonder if there's any significance for the blackened fingers on Marko's right hand, or did he just rub his eyes?! :D

@ Faolin

The photo reminds me "The Last Supper" painted by Leonardo da Vinci. The Poets' postures are close to those of Jesus disciples... Could Marko be the new Jesus :?:

DanceOfFlame - Oh, I'm aware it's a take on da Vinci's painting, just curious how it relates to the overall theme of the album... I didnt really get the biblical feel when listening to it! :D

Indeed! Though Jeremiah Peacekeeper has the first name of the prophet :)

True, but I get the feeling both the photo and the "Jeremiah Peacekeeper" song aren't meant to be taken literally as biblical figures, but symbols of something deeper...

Wow!!!! Simply that is all I can say in regards to ToT. I love this album so much and have had it on replay since I received my copy. I hope to write a full review when I have some more time, hopefully next week. I will say though, that The Lie Eternal is now one of my favorite Poets songs of all time :D

I've been listening ToT constantly since I got it (minus the hours I'm at work or sleeping) but who here hasn't? :P And I have to say few more (possibly not last) things.

"I want you to know you're the heart of my temple of thought" - I'm crazy in love in this line, and now I can see it two ways: he's saying that she's the centre of all his thoughts, always on his mind, or (taking what Marko said in one of the interviews, that temple of thought can be interpreted as a person, body for the thoughts) that she's literally his own heart. Am I saying that clear enough? Anyway, one small line saying that she's both his heart and his every thought. One can't ask for more.

Also, I've read all of the interviews now and the thing about trilogy -
Quote:
And thematically, if Signs of Life is the first part, it depicts the birth and growth and Carnival of Rust depicts the loss of illusions, you see what life is really like and the end result is a human being, Temple of Thought.

Quote:
There is Signs of Life that tells about the birth and the life, also. And then comes Carnival of Rust that tells about that… what it is in Finnish… disillusionment, about that when illusions are shook off and so on. Let go of your beliefs, intention and so on and after that comes… what forms the Temple of Thought, what a person is made of.

So the way I see it's all about learning that love (fulfilled, lost, memories of it, hopes for it...) is the essence of life. ("Remember, love is all.") I really like that thought even though it makes me sad.

I'm going on and on about one topic, am I? Well, Poets started it

Last thing, that's different, I promise:
I was wondering if the three J's took part in the recording of the album like with TT? Or is it all (base, drums etc.) Captain's hard work? Because I don't know who should I praise for example for the wicked drums part like about 2:20 in RooT? Sorry if that info was somewhere already, I must have missed that

Don't trust this too much, but I think they would have made it known that the three Js were involved if that was the case. I remember from somewhere long before that it seems to be really difficult to find a good place at the right time for recording drums... (it's not the smallest instrument around). They seemed to have a tough break finishing in time as it was. And when you include the timetables of three more guys into the mix, it just might get too difficult to manage within the timeframe that has been planned.

So it's Captain who did the drums and bass? I know the three J's were involved in the making of TT so I thought it would continue in the same way with the rest of the albums..

Like I said, I don't know anything for a fact. I was only guessing. I'm not taking for granted that the band is able to include the three Js into the album making every time just because it was possible with TT. But I'm not saying it can't have happened either. I don't have any facts on the matter.

If there's any POTF song I would like an instrumental version of, it's Morning Tide *sigh*. Magnificent background music there, just absolutely amazing, and I'd like to get into it better. The normal version with vocal melody and beautiful lyrics is complete and stunning as it is, but still. *another sigh*

I will wirte more about TOT later but have you listened carefully Skin after 3:10? And another point, the last sentence in Temple of Thought, it is divinely sensual and beautiful! I'm felling more and more in love with this album :)

Yeap, this was mentioned earlier in the thread briefly. Now that you gave a time stamp, I heard it too, but it's very very unclear.

According to somebody on youtube the line in Skin says "you know my life ain't nothing but this сarnival of rust" and every time I listen to it I hear it more clearly, but it might be of course that I just want to hear it and I'm imagining things :P But the "carnival of rust" is pretty certain for me there.

When I look at the cover I always think of the Fable games :)... but I love them both (the ToT album and the games) so, it's very ok. .. And Marko is shirtless, what is not to love about that? :D

My favorites are The Lie Eternal, that became my new Lift and The Distance - I find Marko's voice very sexy in this ones.

While I think the 10 songs are flawless, I leave Happy Song out of my playlist... I guess I don't like to be reminded I am a psycho. :P
It's good, but it's not a song I'd care to listen on repeat, it's a sort of joke and in Alan Wake makes sense, near the other tracks in this album, not so much.

I am a lonely person and many times I relay on certain things to fuel my emotions, ToT helped my soul in a very special way, for that I am grateful!
Thank you Poets and all those involved in the making of this album :)l

............... I told you I'm a psycho..................

I couldn't understand anything except "...of rust" (which made me think the word before could be "carnival" :P ), but this sounds fitting :)

I shouldn't have tried to listen to that bit: now I'm stuck to Skin on repeat again! How I love this song...

I love the Morning Tide.. but I like it as it is: all the orchestral instrumentation in it is too beautiful to take it away ^^

Who said anything about taking those elements away? An instrumental version is one without the singing. :P You know, they have 2 instrumental versions out already, of Lift and CoR.

Hey, I noticed a major difference between the digital booklet and the real one. In the real one, the central picture is just the picture of the band. In the digital one, you could see a frame around and some background.

oops.. sorry: I totally read 'acoustic version' instead of 'instrumental version' in your post.. *I'm dumb* hahaha.. in fact it sounded a little strange to me

Agree on the instrumental  Actually, I'd want it of many songs just because I love to (try to) sing to them ^^
