I've listened to the new album several times in the past couple days. Majority of the songs have really grown on me. There's only one or two that still need to grow. But overall, it is a wonderful album. It fits right in with the rest, I think. And I can totally see the trilogy aspect. I admit that I listened to Signs of Life and Carnival of Rust, then Temple of Tthought earlier today. It works really well. That's just my opinion.

So, yeah, I am completely satisfied with Temple of Thought. And as the saying goes, it only gets better from here. I look forward to the future of Poets of the Fall.

Good job, guys! :D 8)

So I got ToT today, and it's really, really good. I am well impressed!
But... The Happy Song is god-awful. I like the atonal/whammy pedal/Buckethead-esque solo in it but otherwise I think its cringeworthy.
Still a 5-Star album anyway, nice one!

Listened to it while biking.. Wonderful! It sounds so fresh! Now at home it sounds even better in FLAC! Seriously a wonderful job done by POTF. Can't remember which songs but one of them, the start atleast, reminds me of NENB and another part from one of the songs reminds me of Shallow :)

It sounds nicer after a few plays, trust me ;)

The distance have one of the sounds of shallow and Skin start sounds like the no end no beginning.

I will write this weekend my review. Just got the album at home and also bought it yesterday from digital shop :D

Pre-ordered my copy from my usual source for POTF stuff (www.cdon.com). I wish it was easier to get the new releases here in the UK. Amazon is OK but only for the back catalogues stuff.

Anyway, I can't wait for the postman to deliver it! I've been a fan (like alot of people I'm sure) since Max Payne 2 and have immediately got all their albums the soonest I can

From the comments here it sounds like it's another cracker. I listened to the preview clips on the digistore and I like what I heard - but now I crave the CD to come even faster so I can hear the whole thing

Thank you donan! I'm glad I'm not the only one who heared the same style in The Distance as in Shallow :) The strings in Skin are so wonderful! I guess that is Captain's great addition to that song, along with other skills :) It has something orchestral.

The Distance is making an effect in me, like the PotF songs always do... Can't get enough!

Funny, at first I wasn't liking The Distance too much. I didn't dislike it either... it's just that it reminded me of Shallow (that is one of my favourite POTF songs) but couldn't hit me as much as that (because, c'mon, you can't beat Shallow :P j/k).
But the song did grow on me short after

I love to read all these thoughts on the album, and I love to see how people have all different favourites. I think if you put together all songs people cite as favourites, you'd get the whole tracklist again: that's great :)

serinde wrote:
And now I cannot resist sharing that view of mine… (though I don’t expect anyone to read it, I realize it's quite a wall of text, it just needs to be out there).
Nah, it was a nice read. And aside from the detail that my from-most-favourite-to-least would be almost the opposite ( :D ), I agree with what you say about the album

Even though I wrote a pretty long review myself, I've been getting more and more thoughts on the album almost every other minute since I heard it. "I should've written this too.. and how could I not say that?".
Being hit by a whole 9 new songs of POTF altogether.. is something you need a while to get over :P

Now I have only one wish: to hear some of the new songs acoustically... And maybe somebody could prepare to pick me up from the floor of Tavastia...
You can count on me to... keep you company on the floor :D

From my first 2 listenings, I have to say The Distance and Morning Tide are my two winners. I need to listen some more to the album before I will give you my thoughts on the rest. Now good night :)

I got the album today, and I've just listened to it for the 2nd time...

I really love it.

Poets, you guys make everything sound amazing - all the songs are so typical you, and still they are so fresh and new... you are masters of reinventing yourselves without departing from your roots.

There's a method I listen to your albums... the first couple of days I just listen. Afterwards, I read the lyrics while listening, as I dig deeper into the songs once they have settled in...

After just doing 2 playthroughs I can say this album will be one of my favourites, just like all the others.

I hope you'll get lots of sales and can tour some places you don't visit that often (like Denmark? :) ) - and hopefully in 2 years from now, like always, I can listen to your next album!

And now to listen a 3rd time...

Truth. This person speaks it. :P

Seriously, I didn't like The Happy Song at all at first, but after a few listens I kinda like it now.

The only song I flat out don't like in this album is Cradled in Love. It sounds like pure cheese to me.

Just briefly "preview" listened to all songs on new album.
Im gonna like them all but seriously....
"The Happy Song" - 3 letters . . . WTF?!

I love every song potf has ever made, many of them apply personally to my life in very strong ways and I connect w/ them well. POTF is seriously badass.
But, they musta had an off day when they thought of putting this song on the album.
I hope its just a "for fun" song LOL! Cuz, it seems to serve no point.
Its kinda funny actually, perhaps thats why its called the "happy song" ROFL!
oh well!

Love the new album thus far, cant wait to listen too all tracks in full length!
Cept for the happy song.. lol

:D It's the theme for the new Alan Wake game, so I don't think it needs to be taken too seriously anyway :)

Hehe :)

How many times have you listened to Cradled in Love? It took me a few plays too before I could dig in well enough.

Oh, well that makes more sense. Too bad its not a powerful song like , you know, "Late Goodbye" .. that song drew me to the band. If "the happy song" woulda been the first I heard of them..I woulda never noticed them...period.

Haha, glad you're on the board anyway :P And as the theme of the song is a bit psychotic, it would be hard to make a emotional theme song, eh? ;)

So I thought I might share what transpired at the time Temple of Thought was released in the digi store...this is a pretty close approximation from memory of the conversation we were having in the US street teams facebook page chat box. I should have copied it at the time because it was priceless and now it's gone, but this is what happened while 4 of us were in there chatting and refreshing the web shop for ToT to appear...
Oh, and we were also listening to Marko being interviewed on Radio Nova at this exact time too, even tho we couldn't understand it...

This is an approximation but pretty close, Jackie might be able to offer more details, she was more level headed..

[T] Hey you guys should read my review I did for (some game).

[A] ok sure!

[J] ok, it's good

(game talk ensues)

[S] We should see if we can get #TEMPLEOFTHOUGHT to trend on twitter.

[S] Marko is on radio nova (inserts link)

[T] But it's in Finnish....

[A] But it's Marko...

(game chat continues, and Kamikaze Love begins to play)

[S] OMG!

[A] AAHH!

[T] (continues game chat with J)

[S] ARE YOU GUYS HEARING THIS???

[A] YES!! OMG!!

[J] WHAT IS IT?(maybe she hadn't clicked the link?)

[S] OMG IS IT THE WHOLE THING???

[A] I THINK IT IS!!

[J] WHAT??

[S] IT'S THE WHOLE THING OF KAMIKAZE LOVE, OMG!!

[T] S, calm down!! it's just a...OMG!!!!

[A] REFRESH THE DIGI SHOP!! CHECK IT!!

[S] IT'S THERE!!!!!!!!! OMG IT'S THERE!!!!!!!IT'S THERE!!! OMGIT'STHERE!!

[A] IT'S THERE!! I JUST RIPPED MY HEADPHONES OUT!!!! OMG!

[T] Hey you guys!! are you gonna read my review??

[S] I GOTTA GO BUY NOW!!! BACK LATER!! OMG!!

[A] I'LL READ IT T, I PROMISE, I HAVE TO GO OUT SIDE AND MEDITATE TO RELAX AND THEN DOWNLOAD IT!!!

[T] Hey guys??

[T] Guys??

[J] Too late, they're gone....

Kind of silly but it was pure adrenaline at the time, we had waited so long and we hadn't listened to anything except what had been officially released(except for J of course), so we were very excitable!

Anyway, I loved the excitement of the album release and all the suspense and sharing it with people who feel the same excitement :) Now I can't wait for the next release.

hahahahaha, this one really cracked me up :D :D :D
(I might add that I was listening to The Happy Song while reading your post XD )

Seriously, they should've put a warning: playing a whole new songs by POTF unexpectedly? Do you want to kill all your audience? :P

Listened to the whole album for several times now, as I listened and still listening to all of the albums, cos they are all really new to me. I'm sooooo overwhelmed from Poets music, but Temple of Thought has touched me so emotionally, that I can't put my feelings in words. Maybe later. First I'll have to sort out all these new and old emotions, that caused in me such a chaos. :D  But in a good and lovely way.
Didn't listen to any other music since I found out about them. And due to my flu, I had the opportunity to listen hours and hours - I really immerged into it.

- love you Poets!!!

Remember to drink a lot of water to prevent water loss caused by all of the emotional songs, like Carnival of Rust ;) :P

I think that the sigh at the end of Skin is the saddest moment in the whole song. On the album. And maybe among all the songs ever made by Poets...
