I still can't believe The Happy Song is the last song of the album. W00t? I'm just going to have to believe it. I wanted it to be OGoA. :P But nevertheless, I really do like it. The abundance of repetition in the lyrics is well made up for with Marko's huge variety of voice tricks (some of them undoubtedly aided by Captain's tech tricks). It's not going to be an ultimate favourite (there's no instant lightning of love for it), but I doubt I'll ever resort to skipping it either. Very, very, very enjoyable, in a deliciously twisted way.
(Oh God, now I sound like Jorma Uotinen in Finnish Dancing With The Stars...)

Wow, I guessed right
Temple of Thought is going to be something incredibly awesome! CiL and The Happy Song are in the album already, so nothing can ruin it anymore (and I think there's no need to be scared - seems like Poets aren't generally able to ruin anything 8) ). Still one month to go till I get ToT in my hands, can't wait... If something will be for sale in the digistore, I'm gonna buy it right away!

Poets Of The Fall fans are open minded! Those who are not are gone by now! I like every single song of them although I like it rough! :P

I could have my guesses and hopes but I knew it will be The Happy Song, theirs not OGoA and we won't get that slow ending ballad... And I'm more than fine with that.

Just a thought, they've released 4 albums and compilation, like an end to a certain stage, so even if ToT is meant to be a part of a trilogy, it's a whole new "era" of POTF. Hence no slow ballad at the end of the album. And maybe experiments with sound and stuff.

Oh, and the Happy Song - god I love this one straight from bits we heard, I need it like now :P

I'm surprised too that they don't choose to put a slow song in the end... :/

OK...here is my review of the new songs so far (that I know of anyway):

Balance Slays the Demon - Old Gods of Asgard
Where do I begin? This is by the far the most epic song I have listened to in a really long time. And I love all of my precious POTF/AGOA songs like I love each of my favorite fruits. Mango is sweet and tangy. Watermelon is refreshing and crunchy. Each has its own special qualities. This song begins with Marko speaking in a deep, booming, echoey voice that I don't think I've ever heard before. Besides, any song that starts with "deep in the ocean of darkess, in the mirror of light..." is going to be epic, period. For some reason, the beginning instrumentals remind me of early Nightwish. I had to listen to the song a couple times before I could focus more on the lyrics than the instrumentals, since they draw me in like a vortex. POTF rarely write cheesy lyrics, and this song is no exception. It is intense, but Marko's poetry is beautiful and uplifting and the instrumentals are both melodic and ethereal. So epic!

The Happy Song - Poets of the Fall
I LOVE the strings at the beginning and the way they play with Marko's voice in this one. He sounds a bit like Gollum at certain parts, which is fitting for the song. It's so much fun. Honestly, not what I was expecting but I still love it. It's creepy and I can actually feel Marko's breath on the back of my neck in this one. The guitars and percussion absolutely rock in this song. Also a great song, but maybe not one I'd listen to before going to sleep. Marko should play with his voice more often. It really is incredible.

Thank you POTF for putting these songs on iTunes! I ended up finishing American Nightmare earlier today and at first I became a little disappointed that "The Happy Song" was not able to be listened to in full in the game (at least from what I have seen) but now I can listen to these masterpieces in full.

@emeraldincantations I have to agree!

Having not heard any other song other than 'Cradled in Love', I think that 'The Happy Song' would make a great opening song or song just prior to the encore song for the upcoming shows. I cannot wait to see The Happy Song live.

For those who want slow ending song: Just play the songs in a reverse order. Maybe Running out of Time will be a ballad?

And what about a song #12 hidden at the end of the album, long after "The Happy Song": it would be a very soft and sweet ballad in Finnish? (no worries... I'm kidding! )

I caved and bought the songs off iTunes (and will get the FLACs from the Digistore tomorrow).
Don't even know what to say about The Happy song other than that I really like it, even though it is really strange. Very little lyrics to ponder, but oh so interesting musically. <3

While listening to The Happy Song I had only one thought: wtf is it? :D

Very unusual style as for Poets of the Fall, in my opinion. Can’t say I really like this one. Explosive thing? Yes, but I won’t listen to it again and again.

The discography isn't quite up to date, I'll take care of that soon...

I need to say it again: I adore The Happy Song *.* (and even my brother asked me to play it again! :D )
It's gorgeous! What's great is that, with so little lyrics, it's the music that does the talking: Olli's great guitars, Marko's amazing vocal performance.. and Captain's crazy tricks

It's so 'unusual' that you can't expect the album to be like that, but I hope it is kind of at this level of genius&madness XD

Just listened to The Happy Song! Damn, it's amazing! I just start laughing everytime I play it. :D It reminded me of Nickelback's album Dark Horse.

Well, I think I've found the whole story of the upcoming album: It's about a person who starts a journey to find Temple of Thought, no matter in himself or outside, and finally finds that there hasn't been even any sort of thought, because the one's a psycho!!

The Happy Song...

Holy s**t, this song is pure madness!

I so love it. Since I listened to it for the first time I have so much enegry in me, I just want scream, jump and do some weird stuff  :?

Although there's not too much lyrics, I like the way how everything else works, it doesn't feel like there's lack of anything. The way guys mixed Marko's voice in some parts, and the music is amazing. I love when the refrain starts, it's just like explosion, I just wait for it, the most epic part of the song. When Marko screams and drums and guitar starts playing.
LOVE IT!

I've bought THS today, couldn't wait longer :P

First, it is a bit strange for POTF, I admit, mostly cause of the repetition of the lyrics - there won't be much to think about when it comes to searching the meaning behind them. But it suits the song and crazy obsessive thoughts going on in a psycho's mind.

Second, again stunning guitars. And overall so powerful sound, it feels like it's going to blow off the roof :D

Third - how awesome is Marko's voice in that?? All the variations, even with Captain's tricks, screams, whispers... all in just one song :D About the whispers, with headphones it really feels like Marko's whispering from behind my shoulder "I'm gonna get you". Never thought I'm gonna say this, but he actually gets creepy :P

Now I understand the title - whole song makes me happy in a twisted way :D

PS. The single artwork is amazing and hilarious for me too :D

I couldn't wait either, just that I listened to The Happy Song at YouTube as soon as it was available there. (Will buy it tomorrow!) This song is so awesome! I'll take back my words about not having an instant lightning of love for this song. I love it! :D And the title couldn't be more accurate: listening to this song is making me laugh!

The strange loup/sample/whatever I should call it (which is first heard right at the beginning after Marko's voice) reminds me so much of a certain famous part in Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho theme. It's not similar in melody at all, but the spirit and feel (or should I say sound, although the instruments used aren't the same at all) and flow of it is in the same mood category.

Aaaa, this is going to be so much fun at gigs if POTF performs this!

And I was hoping for some kind of Captain's remix for any song on this upcoming album but if there isn't going to be one, this more than compensates for it! :)

And how were they able to make Olli's guitar sound almost like a chain saw at one point..

Now combine that with the Alchemy promo shots make up and clothing and it gets creepy in a very cool way.

@Chen, Yeah, I can see how it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea. And you don't have to like it. Don't be sad, I'm sure the whole album won't be like that and you'll find songs that you will like in there. What did you think about Cradled in Love?
