After six plays of this song I listened to My Heart Will Go On. Feels like these two pieces of art have the similar mood. :)

I've had ants in my pants since last Friday when guys tweeted that we can expect something new this week and today at work was just a waste of time. I couldn't concentrate on anything, I was just waiting to get home to hear the new song.

I wasn't surprised to find out that the new single is slow one. I don't know why but that's what I had been expecting all the time.

When the song started playing for the first time I closed my eyes and just listened to it. After about a minute I started crying, first tears streaming down my cheeks and few seconds later I was sobbing almost uncontrollably. I think I scared even myself with such a strong reaction :? Yes, the song is very beautiful and the lyrics are very deep but to cry like a baby... :D

I suppose it was just all the anticipation combined with the stress I've been having at work lately that made me feel so strongly (see how good I'm at explaining my freakism!!)

It's definitely not the style I'd usually be interested in, neither expecting it from PotF whatsoever, but there's something I really really love about the song (apart from the Bee-Gees revival!). Dunno what exactly, but it feels just right listening to it. Pure finnish melancholy paired with positive attitude expressed with the lyrics.
And as I've been saying in another topic, I have a tendency towards ballads performed by Poets of the Fall, so..

First reaction: This is different. This is not what I expected. So this is what a POTF lovesong sounds like these days. OK

I have to say I'm not really sure about this one. I love the music, especially the beautiful guitar. I think the singing is amazing, and the lyrics are great too. Yet somehow, the song as a whole does not work for me or does not elicit the reaction I would expect from a combination of the factors I just mentioned. It does not make me cry or make me go "awww." It does not give me goosebumps like NENB did when first heard it. Instead it leaves me with a weird feeling in the pit of my somach that I cannot name it this moment. It feels as if me body wants to show a reaction but does not know which.

That being said I won't call this a bad song, because it I think objectively it is brilliant.Sadly, it does not work on me. Not for now anway. Maybe it will grow on me, maybe it won't. Maybe the knot I feel in my stomach will dissolve and I'll know how I feel about it. Right now there are many things I love, but something that bothers me and I can't put my finger on it.
Maybe I am just not in the mood for lovesongs right now.

So there, you can go ahead and shoot me now for being critical.

Thank you Griffo for the link and Admin for the lyrics.

@redbossfan

First, I won't shoot you :)

Second, I was in love with the song at first sight and after 20 times I loved it even more and after listen to it with the lyrics I'm an addict

Third, perhaps it was good that I didn't have expectations at all. I never have any ... I think :)

Sure, it is an unsusual song for Poets, but I love unusual

okay ... I still won't shoot you :)

@redbossfan: Most likely what Porthos13 said :) I'm kinda the same as him. I don't want POTF to make any heavy or soft songs. Just see what is up next. What they make is always perfect though. Not every song gives me a "Wauw" feeling but eventually I'll love every single one of them. I like these guys because they always try something new. But we're not gonna shoot you because you need some time to give the new song a place ;)

Juts to make that clear: I think different and unexpected is good and I love the Poets for always trying new things. Still, I don't feel I have to love every song they make, there are a few that don't work for me and it looks like this might be one of them.
As I said above: It's a good song, but it's not for me.

Well someone can correct me if wrong but I don't think it's bad if you don't like all POTF-songs :) Or would that make you an überfan if you did?

I totally agree with you redbossfan. Even though I love Poets to the bits, they do have some songs that do not work for me. And I think by "admitting" something like this doesn't make anyone "a less" fan...if you get what I mean.

The song has this awesome "everything has come to an end" -credits style wibe. Could actually work really nicely as an ending song of the album.

Lookin' forward to the second single release 8)

"You had the blue note sapphire eyes, to back up all those gazes
To pierce my guard and to take my soul off to faraway places
Told me I'll never be alone, cos you're right there"...

"You were my beacon of salvation, I was your starlight"...

"So don't cry for your love, cry tears of joy
Cos you're alive cradled in love"...

"I kept the love you gave me alive, and now I carry it with me"...

"So with the fire still burning bright, I wanna gaze into your light
If I could see my fortune there, you know how flames can hypnotize"...

Guys, I AM CRADLED... in this song's softness... everything, but mostly lyrics and Marko's voice... since the first moment, I just closed my eyes and... that warm light inside me started lighting up... and I was embraced by that so familiar feeling... a merging of emotions, that I am really not able to describe... delicate tears in my eyes, a sweet smile on my face, aware&disarmed by.. what?.. don't ask me... just feeling the love inside and safe&protected.. why?... again, don't ask me... About Marko's falsetto: simply I find it so "his own", perfectly recognizable and it made me think to that "recording so soft&delicate singing", if I recall well...

IN LOVE, ONCE AGAIN, WITH A POTF SONG!
How can it be possible?

Sure, I don't love all songs equal. And to admit this is okay! When it comes to Poets of the Fall I have two categories:
1. I love
2. I love with goosebumps

and this one is 2. :)

But I understand when some of us don't have that feeling and it doesn't make anyone a "less fan".

So redbossfan I still won't shoot you

who will stand than in first row with me and calm me down :?

I love it!
It makes me forget time and place - and the fact that I have an exam of quantum physics in just about 12 hours

Thank you Poets, I'm sure I'll smile all the way to that exam - and hopefully all the way home from it :P

Oh and by the way, any news on when this single is being released for buying? (If ever). Or the album? (I'm not good at finding this stuff at the moment - damn you, exams!)

If everything goes as planned, tomorrow! (The single, that is.)

Technically speaking, that will be the first single release in Germany, while Cradled in Love is the first single in Finland. But with the internet and all, the releases in different countries kinda lose their meaning, the whole business is mainly meant for radios.

Will both of the singles be digital releases or can we actually buy a copy to put on our shelves?

The "hardware" would be great, but I think I can live with mp3 and FLAC too :)

I just have to say this: A great big thank you and an even bigger hug to Admin for allowing the youTube link to stay here!

Needless to say knowing I can buy the real single tomorrow is great!
And having a single release in Germany means I can finally go and pester my local radio station(s) about playing it!

They can't prove you killed the cat. If they don't open it, the cat might be alive. If they open it and the cat is dead, it would be not your fault, iy will be theirs...

Back on topic: I might just quote all redbossfan wrote and say "I agree with that".

The song was really not what I expected. But this isn't significant, I mean: iif POTF did something I'm able to imagine or predict, they wouldn't be such a great band. Everytime their new music has been something different from what I expected, but almost all other times that meant goosebumps and my heart skipping a bit.

At first I was going to say the song just doesn't work for me.. but while this was extremely true at first listening, after a while I must admit the song is starting to sound better to my ears, and it even has something inspiring... Yet I can't say that I adore it.

Same here. For my part, I'm wondering how that's possible 'cause usually bands have only few songs that I like. Well, nothing's impossible when it's a question of Poets
And I think too no-one's a "less fan" because of difference. Isn't it usually quite exceptional if someone loves and adores every song of a band? :? Oh, such a monster sentence.

By the way, I was outside tonight and had a GREAT experience - concerning the GREAT new single. It was dark, cloudless and very cold weather today, the temperature's been like 20 degrees below zero during the evening. Usually I don't like freeze, but this time it felt very nice.
Well, there's also thick snow cover on the ground, so I fell on my back on the snow and looked at the stars, listening Cradled in Love. When Marko sang "I was your starlight", I started hoping if I could see a shooting star, and right after that I saw one! It was a perfect breathtaking moment! I found it difficult to believe that it was real. And I'm happy it was :D

Hopefully you understand what I'm writing about. If I made lots of mistakes, I hope they are just funny  *Holds securely her head*
