Hi everybody :)
Just to be sure, I want to warn you that this is not a topic where you ask the Poets to do a cover of this or that. This is quite rude and somewhat awkward to ask such a thing since it's entirely up to them to play what they want to play :).

So instead let's imagine this: what song, in your opinion, could sound great / awesome if the Poets made a cover of it? I want to know what's on your mind, because I find it funny to imagine our dear Poets play other awesome songs we may love :D

Here's my list (click on the links leads to a youtube vid):

- Stone Sour's Through the glass
- Limp Bizkit's cover of Behind Blue Eyes (yes, a cover of a cover :D)
- HIM's Killing Loneliness (hey, why not! ^^)
- Green Day's Wake me up when September ends
- Vanessa Carlton's A Thousand Miles (since when guys can't cover a girl's song? :) )
- Vienna Teng's Lullaby for a stormy night
- Take That's Patience (good falsetto material in the chorus hehe)
- Seether and Amy Lee's Broken (maybe he could also sing Amy Lee's part?)
- Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven

That's all for the moment, I'll update my list later!
What would your list look like? :) don't be shy!
__________

Edit: I just edited the title (added "featuring") 'cause I also thought about this idea as well! So if you have any proposition, there you go!

- Enjoy the Silence by Depeche Mode comes on mind first. Lyrically it's at Poets' level....

- Then for example Linkin Park's Breaking the Habit.... Has kinda the same cool suicidalness in it like Save Me does...... 8)

- The Fray - How To Save a Life: This song shares the melancholic but hopeful vision of PotF style

- The Script - The Man Who Can't Be Moved: The bittersweet touch suits PotF-code

- 30 Seconds To Mars - From Yesterday could turn even epicer in Poets' hands.....

Just to name a few in the darkest hour of the day...................... 8)

Perhaps I get another flashforward soon................... Who knows...........

Yay! I thought about "Give Me Your Name" by Chester Bennington's Dead By Sunrise. It reminded me "All The Way 4 U", somehow....

I'll think about more propositions :P

I'm not a big fan of any covers, although I belive that Poets would rock in absolutely everything :)
So not exactly cover, but I would love to hear Poets version of some Christmas carols  (it seems many artists do that and, as every December I become a bit obsessed with carols, I would love to hear some of them sang with warm Marko's baritone). But that's just my opinion

some great suggestion here. but i would like to throw some into the mix.

"nobody's hero" or "available light" by RUSH. both these songs would suit the poets.
or "fields of Gold" by STING.

and lastly not trying to get a free plug here (honest)
"SECRET WAR" by my own band THE KILLERSHREWS.
the tune would be perfect for the guys. ( and they could have it for free)
as i own the copyright.

here is the link for the tune

Although i think i've already said it in another similar topic ,I believe it'll be great if they'd do some other cover versions of James Bond themes as they once showed it with Casino Royale theme :) *dreams of hearing a POTF song as James Bond theme song*

Anything from AEnima album by Tool (H., Forty Six & 2, Pushit, Third Eye)

Familiar Taste of Poison-Halestorm
Newish band, good hard rock, and I can easily imagine Marko singing this one. 8)

As much as I adore this particular song of 30STM, I don't think Marko's voice is for this song. Lack of screams in 30STM songs just doesn't work.

I'd pick something by Sting, perhaps Mad About You, or Stolen Car. Depeche Mode's Freelove works too... so does almost any song off Exciter. :D So do a million other songs that don't come to mind right now. :|

Well, maybe it would become an acoustic ballad for PotF..... I mean, there are two versions of TUF, for example...... :)

Okay, now I'm imagining Poets doing rock versions of ballads and ballad versions of rock songs...... Like an Enter Sandman ballad....... 8)

Hey, and this Summer Wine song sung by Ville Valo and the woman..... Cinematic rock version of it..... Hmmmmmm..................

*Goes mumbling about his cover ideas...*

You know what... I've heard a song "Shooting the Moon" from the band called Mona. And this song sounds a bit like Revolution Roulette by POTF. Just put there Marko vocals.... *.*

They already ruined Cornell's song, no other song can be deemed crime after that

I disagree they ruined YKMN. I do like Chris Cornell quite a bit and I find their cover better than Cornell's version. Besides, Marko's voice and Cornell's voice are quite similar, so are their singing styles, more or less. With 30STM it's an entirely different matter, as Jared's and Marko's voices differ. :)

I'd love to hear them cover something bei either Sammy Hagar or Gotthard, because of the vocal range they cover. I just can't decide on a Gotthard song yet, have not listened to them in a while. As for Sammy: Amnesty is granted maybe.

Oh and any Queen song could be interesting too.

And since I am a Springsteen fan, I'd like to hear what the Poets would make of Jungleland, even though I am not sure it fits.

It'd be interesting to hear a Poets cover of "Here Comes the Sun." Or perhaps Rob Zombie's "Living Dead Girl."

Funny, it's pretty much the other way around for me. I love the Poet's version of the song, but find Cornell's own a bit bland and boring.

@redbossfan: i'm Cornell's fan in general, both Soundgarden and Audioslave plus solo albums. There's absolutely no way Poets made a better version, i must thank you for not making big effort of trying to prove that to me. While they may have performed it without rude technical flaws, something essential - not sure what to call it - was not captured. Can't say i wish it was, the song itself isn't the most important part of Chris' legacy, but if Poets ever dare to touch anything off "Superunknown" or "Badmotorfinger" albums, they better try ten times as hard.

Something from Linkin Park, like: In the End, Breaking the Habit, What I've Done and Numb

The song Hero by Chad Kroeger and Josey Scott.

Behind Blue Eyes would be awesome, too :)

I should think about it, because I listened to some songs and imagined Marko's voice there, but I don't remember those songs right now...

But from what you wrote, I like this idea:
Mona - Shooting the Moon

Gotta agree with most of the OP, plus these.

Pink Floyd - High Hopes

Sick Puppies - White Balloons

Muse - Take a Bow / Hyper Chondriac Music

Linkin Park - Breaking the Habit

Travis - Beautiful Occupation

Lachlan Higgs - Starshade

Coldplay - Rush of Blood to the Head

Now I have gotten an idea about PotF covering U2. That would be so awesome if they would cover songs like With or Without You, Where the Streets Have No Name, Beautiful Day and Vertigo in example.
It would also be interesting to hear The Fly or Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me covered by Poets

Now that I think about it, Unintended should do fine too. And... well, almost all Muse songs. :D

What I personally would find interesting would be POTFs take on 'This is halloween' from the film Nightmare before christmas.
That or covers from different musicals e.g. Sweeney Todd, Wicked, Dance of the vampires, Jeckyl&Hyde and 3 Musketeers

Needless to say that they would rock every song
