Such a good book that gets you hooked right away but it is really pg-13 so be careful. The first book in the series is Succubus Blues.

If you like fantasy novels, I highly recommend picking up "The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss. This is going to be a trilogy, with the second book (titled "The Wise Man's Fear" coming out in March), and the release date of the third book still unannounced.

It is about one man telling the story of his life. Here's a huge quote from the author's homepage:

Quote:
"My name is Kvothe, pronounced nearly the same as "quothe." Names are important as they tell you a great deal about a person. I've had more names than anyone has a right to. The Adem call me Maedre. Which, depending on how it's spoken, can mean The Flame, The Thunder, or The Broken Tree.

"The Flame" is obvious if you've ever seen me. I have red hair, bright. If I had been born a couple of hundred years ago I would probably have been burned as a demon. I keep it short but it's unruly. When left to its own devices, it sticks up and makes me look as if I have been set afire.

"The Thunder" I attribute to a strong baritone and a great deal of stage training at an early age.

I've never thought of "The Broken Tree" as very significant. Although in retrospect, I suppose it could be considered at least partially prophetic.

My first mentor called me E'lir because I was clever and I knew it. My first real lover called me Dulator because she liked the sound of it. I have been called Shadicar, Lightfinger, and Six-String. I have been called Kvothe the Bloodless, Kvothe the Arcane, and Kvothe Kingkiller. I have earned those names. Bought and paid for them.

But I was brought up as Kvothe. My father once told me it meant "to know."

I have, of course, been called many other things. Most of them uncouth, although very few were unearned.

I have stolen princesses back from sleeping barrow kings. I burned down the town of Trebon. I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life. I was expelled from the University at a younger age than most people are allowed in. I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during day. I have talked to Gods, loved women, and written songs that make the minstrels weep.

You may have heard of me."

So begins the tale of Kvothe—from his childhood in a troupe of traveling players, to years spent as a near-feral orphan in a crime-riddled city, to his daringly brazen yet successful bid to enter a difficult and dangerous school of magic. In these pages you will come to know Kvothe as a notorious magician, an accomplished thief, a masterful musician, and an infamous assassin. But The Name of the Wind is so much more—for the story it tells reveals the truth behind Kvothe's legend.

What a coincidence! I just bought this book today, had been wanting to do this for a long time and finallly gathered the money to do so! Now I'm even happier with my choice (I had several books I might have wanted to buy) :D

Ruusun aika by Raija Oranen

The book is based on a same named Finnish Tv series from early 90s. It about family Ruusunen and their life in Helsinki. The name would be translated in English as "Time of the rose" or "The time of rose".
I liked it very much, but I knew what would happen in the book, because I had watched the series way before I read this. It has drama and humor in it.

It is easily one of the best fantasy novels I have read. Of course that's just my opinion, but I read a lot and like to believe that I am not easily impressed...

I originally read it in English, but the German Translation is really good, too.

I hope you enjoy it! I'd be glad to hear your opinion on it once you've finished it.

"The Wise Man's Fear" will be released on Tuesday, March 1st - I can't wait!

Saint-Exupéry's Little Prince. I particularly love these quotes :

"One should never listen to the flowers. One should simply look at them and breathe their fragrance"

"Here is my secret. It is very simple: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."

A beautiful poetic and philosphical tale...

Nightwish-book

Just bought this last weekend and it's really interesting.
It's a biography about Nightwish from the beginning of the band to Tarja's breakup and little after that.

The last book that I've finished top-to-bottom was something by Rick Riordan (Either 'The Lost Hero' or 'The Red Pyramid). However, I have read almost all of two books:

Roman Empire: A complete history of the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, chronicling the story of the most important and influential civilization the world has ever known (note: jesus christ that's a long subtitle), by Nigel Rodgers.

and:

Daily Life in the Middle Ages, by Paul Newman.

Recently completed the 5th entry in the Vampirates series. "Empire of Night." Justin Somper is an incredible author, and I am waiting for the 6th and final book with bated breath.

Stolen, by Lucy Christopher

Excellent! It's meant for teen readers, but was written so well it's really ageless. It's about a girl who gets kidnapped to the Australian desert.

I enjoyed reading it. The book is mostly based on true facts which are sometimes really scary.

I enjoy Dan Brown's writing, but I was having doubts if this book is any good. He always manages to mix fact and fiction very well. Thanks for the feedback. :)

I've read Deception Point a few years ago. Unfortunately I cannot remember if it was this one or Digital Fortress that totally annoyed me, because his characters were so flat, steretypical and unbelievable. Possible spoilers: The heroine has an IQ of 150 or something, but always makes really stupid mistakes that a little common sense could avoid and of course the villain is ugly. *shakes head* Nope, didn't like that one. I think it was Digital Fortress though and Deception Point was OK.
