I'm stoked. Seeing this today made my day.

I'm here to beg and grovel for the release of the entire POTF catalog as instrumentals.

Anyone else excited?

Glad to hear you like! :) There will be more instrumentals in the future, but making them actually takes a lot of work, especially for the older songs. Good things come to those etc.

Glad to hear that. No matter how long it takes, I'll be happy to get them.

I must say it is amazing how much the Poets put out. I listen to many different bands and most make one album every two years, then a tour and the occasional music video. They all are with major labels, i.e. they do not have to take care of every little thing on their own. And yet POTF, an idependent label band ,manages to continuously give the fans something new. And it's all high qualtity too. Kiitos. Poets. :)

Don't the guys have any records without vocal tracks? Or they had to re-assemble these ones?

No "ready for release" -instrumental versions exists, and all songs must be re-opened, re-mixed and re-mastered to make them. Older songs are tougher because they use older technology which doesn't always work nicely with today's technology. With newer songs, it's somewhat easier. Still, all instrumentals must be remastered, which either means lots of money, or lots of time & effort.

I can already see new bands appear like "Poets of the Spring", "System of a Poet", "Red Hot Chilly Poets", "MC Poet & The Fall" etc.. to sing along with your songs... :? :P

Oh, funny. I was under impression that it was just like deleting one track from the song. I have no idea what program POTF use for music editing so please ignore me, haha.

As a wannabe singer myself, this is great news, and a pretty clever way for POTF to make money. I'm stating the obvious here but they need money, so what's better than publishing small things like these for the fans, especially when the fans love it?

Of course that's the basic procedure. :) But like I explained, before you can get to that stage, you first need to open the song in the program. And if the song was created 7 years ago using software that doesn't even work with modern computers... then it's going to be lots of extra work. At worst, you have to go through each single track, finding EQ/compression/etc settings similar to the original, just by ear.

And after that, the song still needs mastering. Of course the instrumental does not need to have the exact same overall sound than the vocal version, but still, it would be nice for it to have a "proper" mastering. Since POTF songs have been mastered by several different mastering engineers using lots of different hardware, you either have to mimic the original master (takes time), or use the original mastering engineer (takes money).

So it's not that simple... but just give them time. :)

Sounds very interesting as I've grown more interested to the technical stuff of music making lately. I used to just compose stuff without touching the soundscape :D

Just out of curiosity, do you have any idea what software the guys use?

Ah darn. I can't really tell from that pic :D. My best guess is FL Studio with some kind of custom GUI.

I bought immediately the two instrumental songs, they are awesome, thank you PotF :).

I could imagine my two favorite songs as instrumentals, Illusion & Dream, and The Ultimate Fling. The director's cut of The Ultimate Fling has an instrumental ending anyway, so it would be a very nice 7 minute instrumental song :D.

Oh my, what an amazing idea to have original POTF instrumentals! I've tried to make them myself just a while ago, but that was a really, really bad idea as I have no idea about such things  So I better get the official ones if my father agrees to use his PayPal account once more (or I should finally get an own one ^^; )

It’s great! No offense to Marko, but from now I like the non-vocals version of Lift more than the usual one. :P

"Logic" is a completely new software name for me

Well not really surprising as I mainly focus on tracker music (hi Captain!)

Thanks so much Admin for all the information. This makes me realize that behind Poets' perfect work there's always a lot of hard work done... just for us. We are so lucky to love a band like Poets :D

Gotta wait a while to buy these, same goes for Alchemy. Any chance for non-official (Old Gods of Asgard) instrumental releases? Like The Poet and The Muse? I would love to sing that one at school :) Thanks for the 2 instrumentals already in the digishop/store.

:D What an excellent idea guys ! I've downloaded and heard both versions in detail and its amazing how Marko's voice compliments and mixes with the music so well. This also goes for the music blending & enhancment which compliments Marko's voice. Without one there cannot be the other !!!!!!

MORE instrumentals please ! that would be great. No wonder POTF are such fantastic artists !!!! 8) :D :D :D :D

These are great :D Now it feels like Poets are giving their fans a all year round Christmas, if these keep gradually coming ^^ I tried to sing along too. It went alright, I suppose, but it just doesn't sound right. A girl's voice isn't Marko's voice and so... meh. But I'm going to keep listening to these. Marko's voice seems to cover up a lot of "background" details, it simply takes up a lot of one's attention. So it's great to hear more of the beautiful magic behind the singing :) Thank you!

I'd like to second the request for War off Twilight Theater; and for the "Old Gods of Asgard"'s Poet of the Muse. Alan Wake is how I ran into PotF, and War is one of the songs I've always wanted to show up on Rock Band. :)

I have been thinking a lot about buying, but decided to wait until there's at least ten of them to form a "real album" (ideally both RR and TT in their entirety, but that's too long shot i guess)
