I know, I know. I am happy about that chance I got last year, because it has... well, totally made my year.
So, asking for more would be selfish perhaps... I know you are right. Maybe it's even allowed to go there underage when you've got another adult with you? Or is it so strict in these clubs that not even that works? However, for now I shall not worry, because as you've said, nothing is ever over! :D
It just even made me feel ashamed that I haven't considered the fact I might not even get into the clubs their gigs take place in, eh. :D

No need to feel ashamed. I didn't know either before my first gig in Finland. And I have no idea if being accompanied by an adult would help. *shrugs* I must admit it makes me happy that I do not have to worry about these things.

A question to Redbossfan: did you attend ALL the Poets gigs? If so, you are the luckiest person in the world... Congrats! I wish I had wings to fly straight to Helsinki on March 18, but... :(

lol, no. I wish I could have though. I attended 29 concerts in 3 years and I am happy to have a job that pays me enough to be able to afford this and where my vacation time is quite flexible. I doubt it will always be like that so I'm making use of it for as long as it lasts.

But all of you who are a bit jealous now should also remember that I am in my late 30ies and it took me many years to get to the place where I am now. I didn't see anywhere near as many gigs when I was younger, none at all until I was 16 and only very few each ear until I was well in my 20ies. I had a lot more time then, but not much money.

Also, I prioritize music over almost anything else in my life. Other people my age drive cars, build a house or have children. I prefer to go to concerts.
So, lucky? Yes, to have the opportunity in the first place, but it is also a matter of taking my chances and doing what is important to me. I have traveled to many gigs for different people and for me it has always been worth it. I have met people who do the same from many different countries - for most of them, music is the most important thing in their lives and they do what they have to to see the artist/band they want to see. For me and many people I've met, the questions are: How bad do you want it? And what are you willing to sacrifice? That, of course, are questions that each one of us has to answer for themselves. I have made my choice and for me, gigs are the way to go, but what you do is entirely up to you.

I feel sorry for anyone who does not have the means (or opportunity) to travel to gigs, but I do not feel sorry for anyone who complains, even though she or he has the time, money and opportunity to go to a gig, but is simply not willing to to do so.

Disclaimer:I do not mean to say that I am a "better fan". Being a fan has nothing to do with how many gigs you have seen, how many fan products you own or how many forums you hang out in (just to name a few things). It is a private thing where everyone decides for themselves what it means to them. And the person who sits at home and enjoys POTF music quietly is as much a fan to me as the person who has traveled to 100 gigs. I hugely dislike people who believe having seen a band more often or owning more stuff makes them better or special in some way.

I'm not jealous but happy to see that people loving Poets as much as I do go to see them live. I think our beloved band deserves it. They work so hard to produce the wonderful music we love and to bring happiness in our lives. Of course it would be a dream realized if I could go to Helsinki or in any other town during their next tour. Anyway, just listening to them at home, in the street or anywhere else and I'm in Paradise... I just can't live without music and at last I found with Poets, what I was searching for during all these years (and I'not so young... )

I hope you'll get to see them someday.
And I didn't mean to accuse you of being jealous - sorry if it came across that way. I just know some people who are...

Don't worry! :) I am so glad you've understood perfectly what I meant... Being fan is something personal, something you feel inside, in your heart, in your soul... So, I wish you to enjoy many more gigs, in particular the next one and please, give us a report, it would be nice and a bit like to be in Helsinki as well, I mean for all "unjealous" people!!!

Although the law doesn't forbid the presence of underaged in restaurants/clubs/bars, it does forbid selling alcohol to under 18. Barstaff is also obliged to monitor that someone else doesn't provide alcohol to that underaged person and if they aren't able to do that, it is same as selling to that person. And they can get shut down because of that.

As it is virtually impossible to monitor that, most places just don't let underaged in, no matter how many adults you are with.

Heyhey!
I would really want to go on the concert too (not sure there are still tickets now though but anyways..) but I live in Sweden and getting across this big "ocean" in between is quite d**n expensive. Anyone know of some smuggling freighter or whatever that I could get across on =p?

Unfortunately the concert is sold out. (Or actually fully booked, which means it's possible some extra tickets will be available, but it's not certain...)

Staying at a friend's place. :)

By the way: Did you succeed in getting a ticket for your friend?

No unfortunately not. He was thinking of maybe coming hoping that they will sell some tickets from the door, but I don't think he is because is crazy to do the entire trip for nothing.

Question. Do finland have any kind of issue with sport shoes? In Spain there are some gigs and pubs you are not allowed to go that way. Hope is not an issue here :)

Not at the Tavastia - some night clubs might have issues there though (but these clubs also mostly have an age limit of 24)

Not sauna-hot, but warm I would say. I usually wear a T-Shirt, but always have a hoody with me in case it gets cool. I think I was wearing a long sleeve shirt when I was there in December (when it was -17 outside)

Now it's about zero degrees Celsius in southern Finland but it'll most likely go minus in the evening...... + there might be windy in Helsinki, so dress warmly, all of you outlanders!

Ok guys, you won't believe what just happened. I just went home from buying the train tickets to Helsinki, and realized that I lost my ID card with the CONCERT TICKET inside! I have no clue where I lost it, I was the entire day at the university, then to the centre, then to the supermarket.
Now I'm trying to go and find it.

There are no words to describe how angry I am.

Oh crap :(

God luck in finding it. Was it a real ticket or a pdf one?
