I didn't like this song either... I mean, it's not bad, but the Poets can do so much better. :|

Just a reminder: The song was made as a game soundtrack, not as a stand-alone song. It's normal to sound out of place. Let's see first how it'll suit Death Rally. It's not actually that bad.

I have a question: Remedy used to be supported Microsoft (for Alan Wake), but now they are developing a game for their competitor's device. Actually, there is no question, it's just odd...

I was thinking of a possible meaning of "doors cry opening": maybe it refers to the feelings (possibly love) hidden, locked into one's heart and when the heart's door opens to let these feelings show, it might be painful making the person vulnerable... fortunately, "love will find an answer"! :)

I really like this. It is not my favorite by far, but it is another good song. It is great but the cover art is rush and nothing like their others. I wished they had put more thought into it or just done something different.

I don't think they were like: "Hey, this a song for a game, let's make it less-potf". It's new music, no matter it's for a game or not, and I think it rocks! :)

I don't like it, at all.

I have to admit, it does look.. rushed.

Posterize filter and five minutes, four of which were spent getting that heart shape right.

Arvigeus, I don't think it's "out of place," quite the contrary. It's very bland, just something I could have playing in the background and never notice there's music playing. It's not superbad, but it's not that good either. But I guess it's okay since it's going to be on the album with the fiercest songs anyway :'D

They can't say that, but the big bosses at Remedy could. Although I'm pretty sure they gave POTF full freedom when recording it. I just hope that the fifth album will have much more variety than this song.

it is in effect different than respect the poets of the fall style, but I don't consider it a bad song, instead I like it, it is pretty interesting and goes better with the times I listen to it

Officially now, I HATE THIS SONG!
It sounds like a modest mid-tempo song that you could easily skip, and then slowly it starts crawling in your mind and can't let you go, like an obsession. You've got me, Poets!

Listening to this song reminds me why I fell in love with this band all over again, and makes me wonder why I ever stopped listening to them for a year or so.

Amazing.

I like the cover art - graphic, bold - clean and simple

Quote:
"it doesn't sound like POTF...'

it does sound like POTF - remember, it is a commissioned (paid for hire) piece and needs to fit into what they wanted it written for. If someone hires you to fit a peg in a round hole, and you make square pegs, you can not just shove the square peg in - you have to reshape it to fit into the hole and still make it your own style...not always the easiest thing in the world.

that being said - i like the song - not love but like. Listening to a band that has an extensive career it is interesting to watch them mature - grow and keep who they are, but never becoming predictable - not being afraid to take a side street once in a while.
What i see are artists loving what they do and doing what they love - not selling out to people who want to see them do the same thing over and over just to make a buck - i know as an artist myself i do things to pay the bills - pieces i normally wouldn't do - and then i create what is inside my head - sometimes people get it, sometimes they don't - but for those pieces it does not matter - but they are usually my quickest sellers because they come from the soul...

*shrugs*

just my ramblings on a saturday morning with coffee :)

Just wondering, how do you know they made the song for the game and not the opposite? Marko said in Voice's interview his was origin of Olli's random inspiration after not seeing for a while. It's funny how fans try to find out weird explanations for different things :)

I have a question...
What does Marko sing in the one of the last lines instead "Can you hear me"? I think that is something different (am i right of this?) but I don't get it... :D

Ok so I didn't really looovvveee CYHM... it was ok. Better than whatever's going on these days with music... but I expected more from them.

And I find it really funny that people justify the difference in the song by saying it was made for such and such purposes. Anyone recalls "Late Goodbye"? Anyone remembers it didn't suck? :)

BTW, CYHM is awsome, Marko's lyrics and vocals rules as well as Olli's guitar.
And i don't know why but it reminds me about DWA.

Probably because it has (in my eyes) the same structure.

"See right through me" - at least that's what Dark Side of Light and I hear

Yeah, guess you right... Especially this "echo style" part after second refrain :)

It's different from their other songs, which are all different from each other album to album, which I love about this band.
This isn't exactly my favorite, but it's still really good. It has the feeling of Poets of the Fall but reminds me a lot of a band called Vega4 that I really liked before it feel apart.
(that song I linked might not be the best example.)
Also semi U2ish. But yeah, I still really like it. I cant wait for their next album!

I really liked the song from the first time I heard it. Of course now I have been listening to CYHM more than the other songs and of course it's different; each of the band's songs is different! And I don't have a "favorite" POTF song since each day one might sound different than it did the day before......that's just the way POTF music works with me  I also really like the cover art too. I think it has that "distressed" look, like some lithographs do and it looks cool.......understated....what should it look like?

I don't know "Death Rally", but then I don't play video games, but I'm sure it will fit

The song is definitely different compared to the older songs by Poets. I like this song but it's definitely not going to be one of my favourites. Lyrics are fun (now that I finally saw the real ones... the ones I wrote down by listening to the song before lyrics were released had sooooo many errors...now the lyrics actually make some sense ) like always and even though this song has a very different sound compared to the older songs, it still has that "POTF-sound" that is in every song by Poets.

There are few things I didn't like that much in this song. One minor thing is how some words and how they are pronounced in this song don't work out that well (example the chorus' "...an answer.." part just sounds a bit weird), this is somewhat nitpicking though. However, my biggest issue with this song is the chorus. It's way too bland compared to the rest of the song and if I had to change one thing in this song it'd definitely be the chorus.

Not sure about whether Poets' were hired to create a song for the upcoming remake game or did Poets just make this song and the developers just liked it so much they wanted it to be in the game. The radio interview (where Marko spoke about CYHM) implied that Poets just came up with this song with no game in mind whatsoever, but would need an official answer for this matter to be sure.

I like it a lot :D Didn't impress me at first but it's slowly found it's way into my head and now I find it quite catchy especially the 'I know I'm just a whisper' part
As I said somewhere else it reminds me a bit of U2

Also who else wants a mopho megaphone from looking at the cover? :D

what is this Voice interview everybody's speaking of? Is it the one from Monday?
Any kind soul willing to summarize it a little?

I'm glad I'm not the one who thought it :|

about CYHM: at first listening I was shocked, I thought it didn't even sound like potf.
Then I got over that shock... It's not a bad one, but I can't say I 'love' it: I don't feel that familiar compulsive urge to click 'repeat'.
I think most potf song are better than this.

I just extracted the flac files, burned my own single and listend to the song for the first time on my stereo. Weeee! Awesome! So many more details than on the mp3. Now all I need is a single cover to print and I can put it on my shelf. :)

I have to say that my impressions about CYHM are changed a lot, after listening to it more times in HQ sound..it doesn't make me crazy, but I really like it! :) Maybe cos of that certain 80ies back-sound, Marko's voice, lyric's reason for existence... by the way, got to say something about "broken lyric" effect: at first listening it seemed lyric was hardly fitted into melody (just in 2/3 points), appearing not much fluent; after more listening this impression is diminished... Anyway, this is the first time I notice something like that in one of POTF songs, if it's so, it's pretty obvious they did it on purpose.. it has been just a stylistic choice and nothing else... I'm sure about that... also because you could expect such a "thought-lessness" from a beginner, but, surely, not from "so very" author as Marko is...
