Good news for people living in Europe, the game will be released a week earlier on May 14th, followed by the US on May 18th. :D

In the latest Inside XBox video, which gives a little tour inside the Remedy offices, you can briefly see Stobe working on the game. :) The video is available on XBox marketplace, also some crappy versions on Youtube...

720p is crappy? I'll remember that next time POTF releases a video.

Stobe actually worked for Remedy? Niiiice...

Hm, link? The only versions I could find on YT were really low-quality (like this one).

I thought everyone knows that by now. :) Yes, he has been working on Alan Wake for quite some time now.

Microsoft created a live-action prequel named Bright Falls which will be detailing events leading up to the beginning of the game. The first episode will air on Xbox Live on April 25 with a new one being released every week until May 19th (the day after the US-release-date for Alan Wake).

You'll also be able to watch the prequel-episodes on http://www.brightfalls.net

A preview-trailer for Bright Falls can be watched here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTw7bBGNY2Q&feature=player_embedded

Do Remedy/Mr. Lake have something to do with it? Or we should expect a crap...

Wow this game is super popular! I am not a gamer but I have a friend with a son who plays them a lot and we had to make a stop at one of the video games stores and put in an order for it! OMG! I was talking to the video store personnel about POTF doing the soundtrack and it's amazing how many people know POTF simply because of the games :D . Of course it was an opportunity to talk about POTF and ask them to watch the vids on YouTube. Cool.

I can tell you that the only song from TT featured in Alan Wake is War. :)

Just played it yesterday. I recognized Mark's voice on at least two other songs which I had never heard before. What are they called and where can I get them? :(

I didn't hear those songs from AW, but Poets wrote on their Facebook:
Quote:
We'll spend some quality holiday time next month, but of course there will be lots of activity around the release of Alan Wake in mid-May. Keep checking the news, there might be a surprise acoustic gig in store, and even some completely new music...?

So I think (have hope) that we will hear those songs someday

My ears are itching! :D
Acoustic gig in store? Did they bankrupted? :? I hope the gig won't bother the other customers...

Nope. The gig is in Tiger (a club, where they have also performed before, it was called Lux back then), and they are giving autographs in Anttila (which is a store) earlier the same day.

I edited the text a little on the Tour Dates page, I hope there's no confusion now?

So, we know the name one of those new songs from Alan Wake, it’s “Old Gods of Asgard” like Captain said^^
Quote:
You mean Old Gods of Asgard song
It contains story spoilers, but it'll find its way online at some point in the future. Not just yet.

I suppose that it is Captain^^

No, that's another Markus. The "RMD" in the username means this guy works full-time at Remedy, and reading some other posts of his in the AW forum makes it pretty obvious too. :)

Old Gods of Asgard is the name of a band, not song. It all makes sense when you play the game....

So there will be TWO brand new songs in Alan Wake? Will they be AW oriented (like OGfA), or just songs that don't fit in TT?

PotF should be paid by MS for selling some new Xboxes to people wanting to see the Poets and hear the new songs in Alan Wake. :P

Now if only I was even able to play these sort of games I'd be actually considering this. As it is I am just so not a gamer. I never even made it past the first scene of Max Payne...

you can also participate in a competition and win all our four albums with signatures + a T-shirt! (Or an Xbox360 + the Alan Wake game, which is pretty cool too.)

What a dilemma
I would choose XBox option only if the set also comes with a hammer (and if I could get Alan Wake CD playing on my PC, at least soundtracks). Naaah, still not as good as having signed albums...

Alan Wake is in stores today (in Europe at least)!

People stop whining and go get an X360 + the game! It will be worth it! :D

(No, Microsoft is _not_ paying me for this post!)

Well, it's a shame it won't be released to PC, I agree, cause that's where I play most of my games, but I understand their choice of Xbox exclusive release. Of course in the end it's about selling consoles and about selling copies of the game - it is not cheap to make games like this and money has to come from somewhere. Moreover, PC games are considerably easier to copy and duplicate illegally which probably also contributes to the decision rather than screen resolution/intimacy, whatnot.

The history of malfunctioning consoles doesn't change that, compared to contemporary consoles such as the PS3, Xbox also has the most interesting selection of games, Alan Wake being the latest addition to that list.

My cup of tea anyhow, and that said I don't yet own an Xbox myself :)
