The video is absolutely amazing and it just makes me so proud such talent comes from Finland and that the band is not afraid to "advertise" their origin.

Not homesick or anything :| Just really really think it's a great piece of work!

where's it happy? oO

hmm, I remember, how wonder was one of my friend, when she read a translation of Clevermind. She thought that it was very happy song.
I think, there it is - Potf's lyrics. You think that it's happy, but it's not.

I'd say it's mostly because the melody in those PotF-songs is pretty uplifting, so it fools people. And then there are the ones like me, to whom the melody and the what the lyrics sound like are more important than what they actually say. I know Clevermind isn't the happiest song in the world, I've listened to the lyrics that much :P, but there's still a bitter-sweet happiness in it for me, mainly because of the melody. Happiness, like everything else in life, isn't black and white, and it's a thought that gives me hope.

On to the topic then :P The song is growing on me, mostly because the new video has a far better version of it than the radio-captures on Youtube :P After a few months it won't be my favorite, I know that much, but it's more in the line of the songs I like -clear and strong. It may not be as gritty as CoR or LutS, but there's a lot of strength in it, and that familiar uniqueness that I hold dear. I love the moments when I find out I have been wrong.

The video is not what I was expecting, a different take to PotF and to the song imo. Not my favorite video because I was hoping for a bigger twist, but quality-wise the best made PotF-video, beautifully shot. I wonder at what time it was shot, because it hasn't been too sunny in a while and there's a lot more snow around here these days ;)

I love the usage of black and white clothes, it's something that struck me right away  I suppose I'm easily pleased.

I feel it's a deceptively simple video. I wish I knew where Marko was standing (if it wasn't all faked) because it was breathtakingly beautiful.

Of course, there was a lot of sadness and grieving in the video but for some odd reason it took its time before it hit me. I knew it was sad, but I didn't feel the sadness until about 30 seconds after I saw it the first time. When I did, it sort of scrambled everything inside. Then I had to watch it again. :P

Okay, I thought so, but was unsure. Anything and everything can be faked on film these days, especially backgrounds. But then, what do I know?

The truth is: there is no Mark - he was faked to appear in the video. Proof: Nobody could stay smiling at this freezing cold...

I'm just curious admin is the Director of this song has a youtube account or have an id of "aquaf0x"? :?:

We started asking randomly asking questions on the DWA youtube page and he is claiming to be the director of 'DWA'. :D

This is what he wrote..
"I'm a big fan of Stobe, but when the Poets contacted me they wanted a video in the style I work in (my previous videos were for Phoenix Effect). You're allowed not to like it, but I'm quite happy with it actually :) We froze our asses making it but had a lot of fun. Working with PotF was a great experience, hope I can make more videos for them.

Best wishes, the director "

I Loved the MV as its using 'RedOne' that is the colour is sharp and vibrant the tones are original. The sharpness of it reminds me of 'District 9' Dunno why...

I don't know, but the comment you pasted certainly has all the facts correct, so I'd guess it's Oskari himself. :)

Yeah, me too. Progress progresses, as they say...

what is a Redone?
ok, that's a question that can be answered by some googling, but since all I've understood for now is Redone is a camera... what makes you understand the video has been shot using a redone?

I don't know if Oskari mentioned it somewhere? Anyway, the video was indeed shot with Red One:

http://www.red.com/cameras/

The camera has over twice the vertical resolution of a regular HD camera, and while I'm not an expert in this area, I very much like the picture quality. :)

Well I randomly asked on DWA youtube page by any chance this was shot using 'RedOne' due to the clarity the director claim:-

aquaf0x: "Yeah,Red One all the way! 8)"

One of a few cameras that Director 'Peter Jackson' love using he owns some due the ultra high resolution...you can see this on 'District 9'. :P

Some quick answers -

aquaf0x is indeed my YouTube nick. The video was shot on the Red One camera with an Angenieux 7-81mm zoom lens that gives a beautiful flare. The place we shot Marko singing was on the top of the Cirrus building in Vuosaari, Helsinki (http://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cirrus_%28tornitalo%29). No special effects were used in any of the singing sequences - the sky is real, the light is real, and it's REALLY cold, -24 degrees celsius.

I'm happy to answer any other questions!

That's really amazing to welcome here the director. Terve, Oskari! So, I wonder what was your first impression of the song? I mean images, ideas, scenes - everything. What did you think?

Hello, Oskari! Firstly, very good video.
And now some questions:
1. What's really about this video? Cause I have some ideas, but I don't know which of them is right:)
2. What means these scenes - with snow (why she's like she died, why he's carrying her and what means this fall), when he's going in the streets and this flower in the end (very interesting moment...)?:)
I'm sorry if I'm asking too much information, but I really want to know what this video about.
Thanks.

You did a great job with that video!

No big question here, just wondering if you can give me the telephone number of the girl from the video? :P

My first impression was that it's not an easy song to make a video to. It's very powerful, but also long - over four minutes. I immediately came up with the idea of being in a whiteout world of snow and ice. Everything else came in later.

It's a video about reacting to loss, about a man living on the border of reality, not always sure what's real and what he's imagining. He has never gotten over the loss of his love and replays the moment of her death in his head over and over. It's very suggestive and can be interpreted in many ways so it's not necessary to try and find the "real story" behind it.

The actors are Kai Bäckström and Jemina Sillanpää, both are students at the Theatre Academy of Helsinki. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3421008/ http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2299007/

Kai has his own web page, in Finnish though - http://kaibackstrom.com/

The flower is symbolic of life in the middle of a dead world of ice and snow - he's grasping for it, but can't find it until the end when all seems lost.

Oskari

It really reminds me of Eternal Sunshine of Spotless Mind, is that intentional or just coincidence?

OskariSipola, thank you very much. I'm really happy to understand the video in your way. To tell the truth, your words about it are very close to mine. Though I wasn't totally sure about her death...

Thank you for the insights Oskari and a sadly beautiful video. I love the visual language - very powerful. It carries the song and adds a new layer of meaning to the lyrics.

Oskari, big thanks for answers)))

hmmm... btw, Kai is very attractive

About flower - this is a sign for him to start a new life, yeah?

*thinking about this video and about own life and love*
hmmm.... so, I'll never recieve this flower, I think...

Oh! Another question. That's ok with place where Marko sings.
And there you found place in moments with snow and running?
*sometimes I think that you shot it in a field near my house
It's look like it.
