I've only just released this but sincly July 2009, the publishers of Alan Wake (Microshaft) have decided NOT to release a PC version of Alan Wake but to make it a 360 exclusive.

Utterly ridiculous strategic decision in my opinion, losing out on a huge Remedy fan base which by the way are mainly PC gamers.

You can sign a petition against this decision though I doubt this would turn any heads:

It's no problem for me, because I already hate Microsoft in the guts! Shame that they are taking down Remedy with them, a nice game manufacturer. They will lose a lot because of MS twisted strategy.

I don't have any more info than you guys, but note that no-one has said there will never be a PC version. The initial release will be only for XBox, and a PC version might (or might not) be released later.

Yeah, too late for prime time and poorly ported over like Halo.

It's a real shame, my sympathy is with the community of PC gamers who have been waiting 4-5 years for this.

Microsoft just want more people to buy their console. It's not new, people hate it but will have to deal with it.

You'll still be using their OS even if you play on PC. :)

Figured I should come out of hiding, now that the whole Alan Wake-thing is at its highest on the forum (also, nice to see you all again!)

I recently purchased a new rig, just so I could be able to play Alan Wake when it comes out next year, despite the slighttly depressing news of it perhaps not supporting the PC.

I think my new Core i7/GTX 285 rig should be able to run it pretty decently, judging even from the shots in the trailer, which look damn nice.

Also, yay, Poets shirt. :D

Edit: ...and it would seem I'm not contributing with anything new in this thread. Alas, I shall have to try again some other time, then.

The latest footage really got me interested in the game. It looks really inventive, well made and clever. I'll have to find some way to play it, even if I have to go get myself an Xbox :D

Why did Microsoft need to make it a 360 exclusive? I have been waiting for longer than the 360 has been released for this game. I'm more entitled to it than 360 console owners!

I am surely not going to buy an XBOX for this, too bad would have bought the game for PC or PS3. :D

Because PC-gaming is in pretty bad shape because of software-piracy and the fact that most people cannot afford spending 400 bucks (at least) to build a dedcent gaming-rig. Console-titles sell way more copies on Xbox 360 and PS3 as on the pc, whose main-selling games Blizzard-titles and EA's the Sims 3, all non-causal-games sell way better on consoles, that's way the pc-version was cancelled.

A 360 is pretty cheap, it'll cost you around 200 bucks (which is way less than what you'd have to spend to update your pc's hardware.

Do you have numbers to support your claims?

EDIT:
I'd be interested to read some comparison on game sales, but it is hard to find anything valuable. I checked Fallout 3 which initially seems to have sold more copies on the 360 than on any other platform, but i could not find any continuous numbers. Would be cool if you had some links.

My great-great-great-grandfather told on his deathbed in 1752 that there will be a Poets of the Fall song in Max Payne 2.

So what?!

Hopefully the new songs - particulary this "War" - will have the same effect for me than five years ago. I'm not too keen of this pop style POTF has evolved into, but tunes like Late Goodbye and Lift were the thing why I kept listening POTF over and over again.

Let's hope Mr. Järvi has a good feel about music fitting a certain atmosphere. "War" doesn't sound like a fitting song-title for a thriller-videogame about a writer. Alan Wake is not Call of Duty. I'm also a bit worried about Järvi calling the song "epic" becuase I believe the soundtrack to the game should create suspense and excitement and not feel like a battle whch decides the fate of mankind.

OK here we go again with all the strange worrying and stuff. Lighten up now!

Mr. Järvi did not call the song "epic", he said it has "a very strong mood to it and is instantly captivating". "War" could mean many things happening on different levels, it doesn't necessarily refer something you do in games like Call of Duty. The song is not the whole soundtrack to the game - there will probably be lots of other music too, and also many different places, feelings and events in the game. And finally, don't you think the guys at Remedy and Poets, who are freakin' creating the game and the music, probably know something about what they are doing...? Of course it's possible they do not, but at least have some faith in them, OK? :D

Of course. Late Goodbye and Lift were definitely not pop, but everything they have done after that is 100% pure pop. It's as simple as that!

I read the spoiler in the first link. Great idea, my favorite Remedy's character could be in the game! I also like the "Twin Peaks" theme (never watched "Lost" though)

Heh, great news (not that it would have been so big surprise) :) Having a song in Alan Wake will surely make Poets a bit more popular abroad. Hopefully Poets will be able to make somekind of a international tour soon ;)

Too bad that I don't have a Xbox360. The game looks promising but with my current income, buying a gaming console just to play one game is too expensive. Hopefully Alan will make it to PC as well someday, like it was originally supposed to.
