My attitude to FB has changed a lot in the last few weeks. At first, one of my classmates got a task from our teacher to tell everyone that we won't have the first lesson after the weekend. His solution? He wrote it on FB and everyone without an account didn't know about that and came to school an hour earlier. It was only an hour but - I hope you understand the principle.

My current attitude is quite a negative, because at the moment EVERYONE except me is there. I have to pull the important information out of people who are there. And that's not very good, every time I feel I bother them.

I'd create an account just to see other accounts and know the info, but one of my 'dear' classmates wrote on FB that he bets that I'll register in a month, because my GF(and also a classmate) registered there a week ago. I'd register just because of the important information (final exams etc.) but I don't want to look like an idiot who just can't live without tracing every step of his GF

That has happened in our classroom also; they spread some news on facebook, the ones that don't have accounts there don't hear about it and it sucks when that happens.

You should get an account, it is obvious that it has become very important that you do. Let them think what they want to think, you shouldn't worry about what people that you consider as 'dear' friends think if you ask me. Your real friends will know the real reason.

Of course, there will be some people that will be all like "I told ya!"
But I'd take that as an one more reason to join - you really DO need some lessons in ignoring stupid people.

Here are my 5 cents for that:
If you don't like facebook, don't get an account. It's not a vital thing for anyone, and now that your girlfriend is registered, you can get news from her about school and stuff.
I know some people at the university who don't have an account, and they are fine without one, even though a lot of information to the groups go through there (for instance future parties are announced in the fb-group), but they get the information. If you make a deal with someone (for instance your GF) to tell you everytime there's some important news you need to know, then there's really no need for an account if that's really all you want with it, and I'm sure people will tell you if you ask nicely

facebook is the kind of thing that: you have been living years without, but once you get it, you don't know how to live without (well, not for everyone).
By now everyone is there... I find it weird when there are some classmates who aren't on fb (and I can't keep an eye on them

)
Sometimes I think I'd rather not have it (when I realize I've just spent too much time on it; or when someone I don't want to add requests me... but I have to add him/her for some various "social reason").

but then.. most of my frineds are there, and it's a great way to keep in contact. and it's fun: we can share thoughts and comments during the weekdays, when we usually do not see each other

I have a facebook and have a few members of the forum on it. More than I do ppl I actually work with and live around.

I think my friends from the forum are very special people because 1) we are all different ages 2) we live so far apart and 3) we do have somethings in common.. (POTF for one!). I enjoy communicating with ppl I know on facebook...
