Because most of the people that work in music shops know absolutely NOTHING of music... :|

Because it's pretty fair to define POTF as pop music. Remember, pop music is not in itself a specific genre, but consists of many genres that have one thing in common: They get playtime on the radios.

Following that logic, everything is pop then. :D

Seeing that the POTF CD's here are labelled "Pop", but are found under "Alternative" in the shelves, my conclusion is logic is not what rules the CD shops. 8)

Not necessarily. There's a lot of for instance reggae, hip hop, trance and heavy metal that gets (practically) no playtime on the radios. And there are a lot of rock bands as well, thus can't go under the definition of pop.

Aw man! So not fair! I just orderd a week ago and they did not have those badges yet. :(

Now I'm gonna have to go and order again...

Now how do I get this back to topic? HAd two of my colleagues listen to the CDs. They both liked them, but they didn't become fans. I tried...

I also talk about the Poets in my Finnish class (ocasionally anyway ;))
Again though: No salvations yet.

I might have converted my coworker... at least he likes the variety of the music and the general style.
I think I'll know for sure when he comes back after this weekend.

It gets cooler: I did convert him... and this weekend he succeeded in converting another friend of his. You gotta love that domino effect

Definitely! It's weird, we all know that you can't help but love POTF but every time someone gets hooked on them it's still like a magical feeling

One of my kids in class today asked me if I was going to bring a CD of that band I keep talking about any time soon :D I promised I would. I'll probably make a sample CD and we'll have a listen in class. It'll be interesting to see what the kids got to say about it, they are mostly very picky (although I don't take my musical advice from anyone hailing Katy Perry to the skies :? ). In another class one of the girls said this music was "boring"... I hope the effect will be better with these more grown up, mature kids ;)

This might not count as any real success, but my best buddy keeps reminding me how much a masterpiece Roses is ;) and even requested it at our last party even though it had already played twice :D Now remains, I guess, to convert him fully, haha ;) He will need to love all the scopes of POTF

Also it seems Lift in the Dramadance remix is a big hit at every party. It also found its way onto a blend CD I put in my buddy's car and she loves the song :D We just went on a road trip and this song went warm in the CD player! Next is to play her the original, see if she likes it, it's not really her style but then what style is POTF really!

hehe those are exactly my thoughts..

I hate labelling, it's always wrong :S

and I've been 'salvated' myself, and I've tried to salvate some friends. I think I succeeded :D

Tell us more :) I can see you've already made some street teaming efforts, hoping that will pay off further ;)

This morning I accidentally woke up my sister's boyfriend by playing very loudly Lift :D I thought he would be pissed off but he just came out from the room with his thumbs up saying I was playing some really good music, that the guys were really gifted  So we listened through all of SoL and then about half of CoR before he had to go. Promised to make him a sample CD ;)

More salvations, ftw!

I might have won over my coworker as well. His taste of music is quite eclectic, (he knew who Loreena McKennitt is and who Tangerine Dream was) so wish me luck, peeps!

well I started uni this year.. and I made quite a lot of new friends, and I found out that a couple of them were listening to poets a lot.. so I went to one of them with my external hard drive and copied a lot of his music xD
I like in flames too, now :P
and well since then I've been playing it a lot, about 300 times in the first 2 weeks or something?
and then I've been spamming around about poets, and one time, there was this guy.. and he was like 'you know what one of your friends told me' 'errhm.. no..' *I had no idea what he was talking about, I was like 'oh shit'* 'that you like poets!'
'OMFGOMFG YES!'

turns out he knew and loved them too :D

and I still haven't gotten any further with my street-team plans.. and my holidays are almost over *fuck*

Which reminds me.

*heads to POTF section*

Ok, so now I'm here
I played the Lift - Dramadance Remix at the opening of my sister's new job (from my sister's laptop) and this girl I don't even know came up to me and asked me what band this was. I gave her the name of the band and she wrote it down on her cell phone in order to remember it  I think that is a good sign, not wanting the name to be lost in her drunken haze

Assuming she'll still like it when she's sober :|

Turns out I did convert one of my colleagues after all.
We chatted about music the other day and he told me how he listens to POTF all the time in his car now. He also told me abot a friend recommending Sunrise Avenue to him. He thought they are boring. Thus I told him to check out Phoenix Effect ;)

Oh and I had to promise to keep him posted regarding a possible Germany tour. Yay!

I think I just got my friends' mom hooked. :D
She's listening to Signs of Life right now in the next room (we're staying at their house for a couple of months).

I just had a buddy call Roses "musically boring but lyrically brilliant" :|
I sent him a few other CoR songs to try and persuade him they are more towards the brilliant direction, but he seems... well... difficult to salvate. :D

If all else fails I guess this dude will have to stick to his synth songs!

...and he'll stay PotF-ignorant. :|

I managed to get one of my childhood friends literally addicted to Marko's voice and Sleep. :D She doesn't even listen to rock and said CoR is kinda hard to take because of all the guitars ( ), but besides that she's sooo hooked. 8)

Uhhh  I don't think I yet met anyone who disliked CoR :? Said friend above was sceptical towards Roses but adored CoR :o :)

(How anyone can be sceptic towards Roses still amazes me... in a bad way)

She liked it, she just said it's hard to take, which, in her world means that the song will be played from time to time. :)

(I keep quiet on the Roses part or there will be blood. :| )

How so?

Haha okay, it's just difficult for me to see how CoR could be hard to take... cause I use that expression with stuff I dislike
