The reviewer dissed a lot of the things I like best about this album. What can I say? Some get it and some just don't.

I don't know...I think that besides the last part being pure biased speculation, the review was pretty thorough. And don't get me wrong-all reviews are biased. The time this person took for each song is a good sign. Each song is reviewed in detail, not glossed over. Although I had to laugh at the last bit of the Clevermind review. I don't think this person knows about Marko's range. :P

More... "to an old Linkin Park song" - :D
Psychosis... "distorted screaming" - :?:
"Clevermind: The opening almost reminded me of The Killers... It’s not abusively heavy with the guitar like Psychosis... " - WTF?! :D
"Passion Colors Everything: …and Marko goes back to his false... " - I can't stop... :D   :D

:D   ... NO need to argue, but I'm so tired of RATING's... [I'll love to write to all ratings... something so ugly... :x ]

Too many critics on this planet... :x

I appreciate the time the guy put into writing this review, especially since he only gave it a mediocre score. I for sure wouldn't have done that if I hadn't been completely amazed by it.

However, I believe that variety and therefore change is the Poets' greatest strength. If you don't go forwards, you go backwards. To me, it's like they are becoming more complex with every one and this complexity makes the old stuff shine in a new light since there are so many sides to POTF that you don't experience if you only listen to one album.

I've been reading some of the opinions expressed by others on this thread.
First of all: I must say I've been quite surprised at reading that so many consider RR the less good album or even a "not-so-good" album (and, on the other hand, I was surprised that some have been reacting in a bad way to those who were bringing critical opinons: I believe every opinion has its dignity, if it's well argumented. And it's good to listen to different opinions, because it's just impossible that something is liked by everyone)

Anyway, for me, I must say that I've adored the whole cd from the very first listening. The "first impression" has been even better than those I'd had with previous cds.
Before listening to RR I was thrilled but also somehow "afraid", because many times, with other bands, it's happened to me to like their first albums and to be quite disappointed at the 3rd, or round there.
But when "More" started.. I just could not believe it :o All I could think was "WOW!"
And this is what I've been thinking of most of the tracks.
"Phsycosis" just thrilled me: it was quite unexpected.. and I love its sound, and I love Marko's voice on it.
I don't think they have changed too much their style.. and even if they have, I'm definitively not complaining :) I'm one who usually prefers fast/heavy songs

It doesn't happen that often to me to love an album from the very first listening; not only hadn't it disappointed me (which was what I feared), but I was (and still am) TOTALLY ENTHUSIASTIC with this album: I could not listen to anything else (except SoL and CoR  )
I think WDWDTL at the end is just as perfect as it can be: first because I like the fact that they use a calm, meaningful song to close their albums; second because this is particularly beautiful, and it really grew on me, as I was listening and by the end I was already sooo singing it along..

what more... the songs I like most are Passion colors everything and Where do we draw the line. Right after in my list are More and Phsycosis.
The only song I like less is the title track, Revolution Roulette.

whoa, you never realize how mad you are about an album until you write about it :D

human hater?
I'm sorry you felt that was about you: I was not talking about your post (indeed, I agree with what you commented about that critic :P )
I was talking about the fact that some pages ago in this thread there were some debates among users... I now guess I shouldn't have mentioned this, because I'd rather not cause any other debating.. so... just forget it, ok?

Yes, human hater... I mean, I do not hate all the people around the world... But I hate our characteristics... Like rating everything, or our selfishness and... That why I called me human hater... We all have bad side, and I hate that... I hate when some people kill for fun wild animals. I do hate those disgusting things, which identify what is human... Is it clear why I called me human hater?

"I'd rather not cause any other debating.. so... just forget it, ok?"

And I already forget it.

can you really affirm you are a human hater because you hate bad things?
i mean, nobody likes bad things... thats why they are bad
in this case we're all human haters

you can say "i'm a cucumber hater, because i have to vomit if i eat one" but a cucumber aint bad at all - just in my taste

but to hate bad things... its strange to accent that...

First: Let's stop this, because the topic is not about that...
:) Yes, it strange. I know that... But when I look 5 years ago, I see how my friends call me: Human Hater! (It was joke at the beginning)
I hate some positive things, too. But I won't write them... Because you will totally say, that I'm a freak….
I'm really unsociable! And I do not like at all – our human being nature. And the way we think, that we are so smart. "Superior most amongst all the creatures" - This thing is just a big lie for me. And I hate what we do to our planet and nature. I really DO hate that. I hate when I hear: „I will have great career no matter what...” Or „I prefer great career instead of great family...". And I hate many other things... But I won't write them... I try to do not think about my hate...

THIS is the dark sound that Poets of the Fall is looking for

I am so happy there are external people to tell the guys what it in fact is that they want. It would be strange if they knew this themselves by now.

Congratulations potf for giving us RR. It's tremendous.

After releasing Revolution Roulette, potf have settled a new benchmark in their discography. The best rhythm management I have found in this album till now.

This album is heaven for head banging specially songs like More, RR, Psychosis, Miss Impossible & Save me. There are more progressive & psychedelic strains in vocals & guitars.

And as usual all songs sounds good. And as I expected they became more hard. Yeah, that's what I want.
Here's the Iron Clad of potf. It's energetic. 8)

Ohh my god..they are so smart lyrically. They covered so much. I feel so much depth in it..really few bands can give such lyrics.
_Hats off_

Thank you very much potf for such brilliant album.
:)

Perfect wording! I couldn't say it better, That is my opinion of the album!

I like the difference, especially because in the others it shows that they haven't forsaken the roots. Incredible Album, more rock than it ever was but never sacrificing the lyrical majesty. I'm amazed!

Yeah, you are right. There are more heavy songs in this album.
Considering songs like More, TUF, RR, Psychosis, Save Me...I must say that they are being more psychedelic. And I love that.

Looking forward for more psychedelic & depressive music from them in future albums.
:)

Depressive
If there is one word I can never ever connect with PotF's music, it's depressive. There's always that ray of light in every song that seems depressive, and how can you get depressed when you see that sunny smiles on the guys faces?

Yeah!

The tracks which contains psychedelic session can result in depressing.
Psychedelic rock is style of rock music which eventually leads to mind-altering experiences & results in invoking depression.

Like early Pink Floyd albums 'The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn', 'A Saucerful Of Secrets', 'More', 'Relics' etc can also be categorized in psychedelic rock.
Many song are way too much depressive.

Yes, thank you for the nice lecture in psychedelic rock, I happen to listen to such stuff for quite some time now and I have to say that PotF are FAR from being psychedelic... whatsoever.
And no, I can't agree psychedelic rock gets you depressed. It's your mind that gets you depressed. But that's a slightly different matter.
