I tried to send a request to the Host/Programmer but my computer just won't let me do it. I will keep on trying though. The more the better, as you say :D
There was this radio station that my sister said plays all kinds of different music, and they will probably be open to POTF. I will have to ask her again what is called. She said there was a high chance. Hope she is right :)

Also, I noticed there's a California-specific thread here, so is it alright if I make one for Massachusetts/East Coast?

I think we're mightier together then we are separated.

It's like they say. "One person mentions a rock band, it goes in one ear and out the other. Second person mentions a rock band, it kind of sticks in the back of your mind. Third person mentions a rock band, you think 'hm, I might have to check this out.' "

One person ranting about something being great is going to look like a nut and do more harm then good. I know this from experience. We're a Street Team, we really SHOULD start acting like a Team if we want to help Poets of the Fall break in the USA.

Well said, although I believe the CA thread has a bit more info on it. But since this is on top now, let's stick to it. :)

I agree. much wiser.
My sister told me the name of that radio station that would probably play POTF. It is a Twin Cities station, so it would only be in that part of Minnesota. but it is better than nothing. It is called Current and it is on 89.3. I will find their website and maybe we can bombard this station as well with POTF requests.

That sure wouldn't hurt, Amo, but in the meantime, I cannot stress this enough:

"Passport Approved" is a thing we really should do!

Not only is it specifically geared to non-American unsigned talent, but it's syndicated. That means it airs not just in LA but all over America. It couldn't BE a better fit. We've got a much better chance with this then we ever did with KROQ, so lets not just talk about this one. Lets actually DO IT.

The addresses:

Sat Bisla (Host/Programmer)
sat@passportapproved.com

Brandon Fuller (Press/Marketing)
brandon@passportapproved.com

Pete Chalmers (Production)
pete@passportapproved.com

In your email, DO NOT be rude, be snotty, be a troll or spam.

DO: Stress how much you love Poets, how you think they'd be a good fit for the show, how they've had some success in Finland and a grass-roots but steadily growing fan-base online thanks to the internet. Construct your letter in proper format and let them see how funny, smart, and charming Poet fans are.

There's also snail mail. This is where any music we want them to review should be sent. They probably don't want submissions from fans, but there's nothing written on the website that they don't want submissions from fans, and anyway, writing letters couldn't hurt, and carries a different kind of weight then an e-mail does. TheArtist, I think you might be the person for this job.

PASSPORT APPROVED
attn: Music Review Team
8383 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 100
Beverly Hills, CA 90211

We should get some other Street Teamers involved too. If they can break here, they can break anywhere.

I'm trying to spread the word in Atlanta along with a couple of others, but it's hard to get the radio stations to even pay attention to us. I even had an extra CD that I bought and paid for to donate to a radio station, sent emails with links to the band's MySpace (where they could once more hear the music without it being an illegal download) and nothing seems to work. Can someone give me some ideas? I really want to see these guys hit the East Coast too, not just LA (even though I am originally from LA, just transplanted in the deep South  )

I just shot an email to Mr Chalmers. Come on people, lets spread the word!

Now you see why it's so important for us to work as a team. One person alone, even a very dedicated person, sounds like a fanatic. We PotF fans gotta stick together if we're gonna make this happen.

Anyone else sending e-mails? The more the merrier.

Probably not, and that's probably because Americans have had a few other things to think about, like the economy, the debates, etc. Big things. However, we should maintain bombarding these guys (nicely!) about playing the music. As for sending things snail mail...I think the best thing to do is send a single, at least, along with a letter full of glorious accolades. I can still do it, but I'd have to purchase another one, and that will take time.

i agree, we should keep bombarding this station. but what i hope is that Late Goodbye is on the Max Payne movie. that would help a little bit :? and true there has been a lot of big things happening lately.......including corn prices going down :( not god for farmers :(
sorry, a little off topic there :P

Last info that I heard was that Poets have no connection whatsoever to the making of the Max Payne movie. Besides, how should Fox get them into the movie if they don't even know that the band exists? :?

ah, as i feared.
well, i thought that, considering it was on one of the games, that Fox would be a little knowledgeable of at least the songs existence :? well, i suppose if the movie bombs, we don't want Poets on there anyway :P

I think Fox barely knows the Max Payne video game exists. It's like "Hitman." They know what it is...kinda. They know it's a name. It's a game about a detective, and it has slow motion. That's all they really need to know, right?

I think we'll have to wait thirty years or so for a "good" video game movie, just like we've had to wait for "good" comic book movies. When video game FANS grow up and start making movies, they'll be good. In the meantime, stay away.

WRONG! Your work has just begun. Make sure they get a lot of airplay, and I mean A LOT of AIRPLAY! Talk to him on the phone on the air and tell him how much you love that band and want to hear them again! Mention the website and MySpace!

Go Go GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've introduced a lot of my friends to the good Poets so far, and everyone's thought they're nothing but an amazing. I have a few friends that are going to be starting a college station, so I'm sure I can get them to play some Poets on there.

Also, I sent a request to the myspace U.S. street team group but I don't think they've logged in for quite a while.

Great job, Ryvius, and welcome! :) I've spoken to the keeper of the MySpace page. (Kaysea here on the forum.) She's been going through some stuff, and has had some comp problems and things. Don't worry, she's still floating around. Although at this point I'm wondering if one of us shouldn't take over for her (or just plain create a new page) since it's clear she's having a hard time keeping up. :? I've suggested it to her before, but she hasn't responded to it so far. I'll keep you posted.

College stations as well as your local Community Colleges, might be the ticket.
