I have a bad feeling about this movie. Probably the only common points with the game will be the name of Max and Mona, and eventually the death of his family.
bad bad bad...

How about waiting for the movie itself?
I'm not a movie expert, but I think some promo pics or snapshots of the main actors in some random situation don't tell you much about a movie.
There's also something like a script or at least a plot. I kinda doubt that in his role as Max Payne Mark Wahlberg will look exactly like he looks when he goes out. Otherwise, the movie should be named Mark Wahlberg.
Simple analogy: When you apply for a job, you dress and act a bit differently than when you're hanging out with your friends, right? Same situation here.

IIRC, the plot summary on IMDb sounded pretty much like the first movie...

I'm not a Max Payne video player so the only way I will see any of the Max Payne movies is if they have a POTF song in it.

Sorry

I think i'll have a look at the original movie before I check out the fan film.
At the very least it looks like the original will be out before the fan film. ^_^

I can't wait for The Max Payne movie!! Be humble because I'd rather have John Moore directing it that someone like Uwe Boll.

from what i've read about the movie it seems like it 'may' be pretty decent. so far it seems that Sam Lake is writing the characters for the movie, so if the writer for the game has something to do with the movie it'll more than likely be a decent faithful adaption, still though it could just end up sucking like most video game movies. MP has the makings of a noir classic, and another thing i noted that just helps make the movie seem crappier Mila Kunis (you know Meg from Family Guy) is allegedly playing as Mona Sax i dont think she could really fit that role too well especially since shes usually in comedies. and Jack Lupino is going to be a Mexican Mobster which is a big change especially since Lupino isnt a Mexican last name

I'm a huge fan of Max Payne games, I've finished them both many times. When I've firstly heard about a movie, I was really scared. But there is still some hope. I am able to cope with many changes, even if Late Goodbye won't be included in movie. But there is one important aspect which cannot be ignored - Max Payne is not Max Payne without voice of James McCaffrey - not even in a case that EVERYTHING will be like in a game. At least that's my opinion... :?

By the way - the movie itself is not the most frightful thing - in a case of failure, it can be succesfully ignored by fans. But what about third part of a game which is not developed by Remedy? I just don't believe in a skills of the others

I don't trust this movie.
How exactly are they hoping to do a Max Payne movie?
Max Payne already IS a movie!

And videogame movies are predestined do be failures. That's the way of the universe, just like bread always lands butter side down!

I don't know, Kuborion. Silent Hill was pretty good. True, it wasn't a box-office smash, but it was pretty faithful, which is rare for an adaptation. Why don't we just wait and see what happens?

Yeah, that seems to be the only way to be sure.

But I still prefer scepticism - that way I'd be pleasantly surprised in case the movie is actually good, not dissapointed if it's bad. ;)

That was my thought, without James McCaffrey how can Max be Max. The one thing that made Max who he was, was the voice of McCaffrey without him it'll seem more like a Wal Mart version of Max called Pax Layne instead

What do you mean with it? :) The first thing which came in my mind was that you cooperate with McCaffrey on the movie - that would be...WOWOWEWA, awesome :D Bah, I think I'm too optimistic now, but it would be really great :(

Dont worry Luke there are many who would kill to see your movie, such as myself.... Though there will always be others who'd rather the other version... Those who dont care for the thought of yours... the thought is firm

But seriously SAREK to speak this thought aloud is kinda inconsiderate

I never gave Silent Hill The Movie a chance for one choice they made very early: Changing Harry Mason into Rose Mason.

Harry Mason is one of the deepest, most disturbed game protagonists of all time: he faints, talks to himself, runs from monsters, cringes in horror, acts paternal... none of which are gender-appropriate for Big Screen males. So they changed his character into a woman.

They were faithful in re-creating the game's imagery, but they missed the most important part, which is that this town always brings you in and builds it's horror for you specifically, around the darkest secrets you have. The Silent Hill of the movie wasn't nearly so personal, which robbed the horrifying monsters of their psychic bite.

The Max Payne movie will suck. Mark Wahlberg wasn't cast because he reminded anyone of Max, he was cast because he's Mark Wahlberg. Why's John Moore directing it anyway?

The Hitman movie sucked too: the cool thing about Hitman is all the stealth kills and the Silent Assassin ranking. And Bateson. Olyphant is just too damn young, and all the gunfighting One Man Army crap pissed me the hell off.

The Prince of Persia movie is going to suck too.

Because all video game movies suck. Until the day comes when directors, writers, and producers start taking their source material as faithfully as they would any other respected work of art: by actually examining what makes it good and why it's liked, THEN maybe good movies will start being made.

In the meantime, I'll take a fan movie born of love then a Hollywood film built to capitalize on OUR love any day.

Dreamer just because vital aspects are as a difference, doesn't mean those movies sucked, just means they were unfaithful and you weren't open to the change. I can understand this but try to open your mind, you might just enjoy the mangled world of Silent Hill, however different it truly is.

They're making a movie of that? Interesting...

I don't know what they're going to make of it, but I could imagine something like the Indiana Jones movies. The greatest problem here would be getting enough of both the action and the story into those 2 to 3 hours... But I won't say that it's definitely going to suck. Then again, maybe that's just my usual optimism...

Oh... and sorry for going Off-Topic, everyone

I actually found a woman protagonist in Silent Hill to be quite refreshing. Even better, the strongest characters in the movie are all women. How many films do you know can say that? And, like many of SH's characters, she runs around, not knowing what's going on, nearly dies several times, but by the end she's strong and capable.

By the way, I don't know if you already know, but I was really surprised to learn that apparently Nelly Furtado is going to star in this movie. She will play the role of Christa Balder, a wife of Alex Balder, known from the game. :D

I just wanted to say I think it's a strange idea and now I think that this movie might actually be a flop.

I've always wondered what's up with all the "look at me, I am a famous actress who now also attempts to sing" or the other way around, "look at me, I am a famous singer who now also attempts to act"...
