I'm starting a team for PotF in the US. I can get the message out on the net.

PM Tiia to let her know you want to join. Other than that, I'd say the MySpace page is the best way to start. And Welcome!!! :)

It's good to have a U.S. Street Team. I tell everyone I can about Poets. I enjoy wearing my POTF Morpho T-shirt because ppl like to ask "Who/What is Poets of the Fall?" My cell is an MP3 player also and I have their music handy at all times. (Poets is the only thing on there including the only ringtones). It's hard to get the radio here to play POTF since the CD is not "for sale" in the U.S., but we have to keep trying. I have a couple of women I work with completely hooked on POTF and many friends outside of work both young and old. (not to old.. about my age 40) :)

I've been trying to get the radio stations to play it here in Atlanta but they keep hiding behind legal jargon when I make my requests. Even when I SENT them a CD that I paid for myself and donated to the station, they didn't play it, it just got sent back to me. Does anyone have any suggestions?

As I understand it (and if someone knows better, feel free to correct me) until POTF has an American distributor, they can't be played on any radio station except for independent ones. If you can find those, go after them.

Count me in! I'm already making my own POTF stickers and posting them in various places around my city.

I'm curious if Marko & the rest of the band would object to making and distributing free compilation CDs of various POTF songs to random people or people we know. I'd love to start doing that if it was ok with the band.

Ask Admin or Tiia. I know they'll get a response back to you a.s.a.p.! 8)

Free cd's.. we've talked about this before. Basicly, it is very illegal to copy music and spread it around (as we all so very well know), but to be perfectly honest, how could the band possibly stop anyone from doing that? And how could they be mad for it? They just can't and won't ask anyone to do this since it's illegal.. and of course, some bands might even be very strict about it and not allow any freebies to be spread.

My personal opinion is that it would be a great idea to have cd's with a song or two to give out to friends or other people, but then again, where should we draw the line (I had to say that :D) to separate a good promotional work from piracy..

So, maybe I'll just let Admin answer this and hope he has some better thoughts for you guys :)

For the past two years, I've been giving away singles (not copies, mind you) to friends, family, and anyone else interested in hearing the band. You could always try that.

Great job, Will. My goodness, that has to take some doing, (not to mention $$$, though it is going for a good cause, hehe) but how fantastic! What has the response been like?

Reactions overall have been pretty positive from my understanding. I've probably given away at least a hundred dollars worth (which doesn't really buy much nowadays). Most of them were started with "Locking Up the Sun", since to me, it seems like the most accessible release. A couple people asked me about any other singles and some wanted to know where to buy the albums, because I always made sure they knew the band is independent and every sale counts. With the dollar losing value against the euro, whether or not all of them actually ended up buying the CDs is another story though...

Last I heard, Kaysea, the girl who runs that page, was busy doing stuff in real life. I'll send her a message, too, see if I can't get her to respond. :)

I'm gonna go and try to join the Myspace US team, too. I've already been pestering my friends to listen to their music, and two of them really seem to like it. :)

Lucky you. I always pester too hard so my friend are all like ... "Meh" when they finally DO listen.

Anyone heard of the Radio Show "Passport Approved?" We should try and see if we can nag the music director to give a listen to Poets...

Ah, yeah...luckily, I'd already done that with other things (I tried to get them into Star Trek a while back) so I'd learned a bit about how to get them to listen to it without annoying them too much. xP

Nope, never heard of it...if it's what the title makes it sound like, though, it's sounding like a good idea.

It's on Indie 103.9 and they had bands like Coldplay on US air before they ever even had a record deal.

Maybe a well-put proposal would work. More then one though: no one wants to look like an uberfan. http://www.passportapproved.blogspot.com/2008/07/contact.html
