Earlier tonight, at exactly 6:43pm, Locking Up the Sun played for the first time on 107.1 KDSN on the "Class Days" event. Lemme tell ya, it was a strange (good) feeling... I'll be contacting the station early next week to see if they'll run it during their regular programming.

That's fantastic, Will. I hope the chrous did not lose its magic and a few people got interested in POTF by LUTS.

Keep on spreading the word. 8)

Earlier today, I ended up getting the single back in the mail from the radio station. Apparently it didn't get accepted or something, I dunno. There was no note explaning why or anything, so I guess it was just a one time deal. I'm assuming they were worried about copyrights, even though I told them it was permitted and all that jazz and that I already had three other copies at home.

Ah well... a friend was with me at the post office, so I just gave it to him. I guess it's back to passing out singles to random people on the streets... :D

Thanks, M! :D Okay, gang! Let's bombard these guys! Remember to tackle the other link I sent in Milwaukee, too! And if you can find any other independent stations or independent anything, post it here and send a note to our MySpace page, too!

Hey gang! I posted this on the International thread, but I'm guessing many of you don't visit that, so I'm posting it here, too. Some of us came up with the idea of petitioning Conan O'Brian to have the guys come on his show, since he once aired a show right in Finland. I wrote a draft, lemme know what y'all think!

To Conan O'Brian and Co,

Hello from several voices around the world! No, this isn't someone with Multiple Personality Disorder, though that would make for an interesting guest, wouldn't it? Nope, I'm just an ordinary American with some extraordinary friends from all over the world, and well, we need your help.

No, we're not asking for money or fame, or to help with some great cause to save the world. Actually, scratch that last statement, because I and my friends truly feel that music goes a long way to heal hearts, souls and minds. Music is a form of communication and healing, and is a far better way to deal with something you can't express in just words.

Well, how did I meet these friends of mine, all of whose signatures are at the bottom of this clever (I hope) little piece of literature? I'm glad you asked, for it's the very reason why we need your help. I mentioned music, and music is indeed how I found myself greeting people who I have come to love as friends. The music I'm writing about comes from a little band hailing from a country you, Mr. O'Brian, came to visit and did a show about. I'm talking about Finland, and the music is from the band, Poets of the Fall.

Poets of the Fall is without a doubt the most unique, refreshing rock music on the planet. I may not be a music critic, but I can tell you that their blend of catchy melodies, powerful rhythm, and thought-provoking lyrics are a breath of fresh air in the rock music scene. This is something that is so desperately needed, especially in America, and so this is why we have created this petition. You have the power to bring this band to the attention of America and thus, the world. It's not often I hear music that strikes my heart and makes me feel more alive than I did a minute ago. I do not compliment these men lightly, but they did exactly that for me, and for many others.

All of their songs are in English and are unlike anything you've heard today, primarily because of the very different musical backgrounds of the core 3 Poets, Mark, Ollie, and Captain. They merged three different worlds together to form POTF: a rock singer, a jazz guitarist, and an "industrial-machine-trance-man".

Here are the facts as well as we know: Poets of the Fall (POTF) are an independent rock band from Helsinki, Finland that was founded by Marko Saaresto and Olli Tukiainen in 2003. The members are Marko "Mark" Saaresto, (lead vocals/guitar), Olli Tukiainen (guitar), and Markus "Captain" Kaarlonen (producer/keyboards); during concerts, they are accompanied by a bassist, a rhythm guitarist and a drummer.
The Poets released the singles Late Goodbye and Lift before releasing their full-length debut album Signs of Life in Finland. The album was certified gold in May 2005[2] and platinum in April 2006. It topped the Finnish Top 40 chart in weeks 4 and 7 of 2005, and stayed on the list for more than a year (56 weeks), which makes it one of the most successful self-produced and self-distributed albums in the history of Finnish music.

The song Late Goodbye should be mentioned as the beginning of the band's popularity since it is featured in Max Payne 2 as the game's ending song, as well as a recurring theme in the game. The second single, Lift, is featured in the computer benchmarking program 3DMark 05 by Futuremark which has close ties with Remedy Entertainment, the developers of Max Payne 2.

The band has won several awards which include the 2004 Game Audio Network Guild (G.A.N.G.) Award in the "Best Original Vocal Song – Pop" category for Late Goodbye, "Best Finnish Newcomer" in YleX's "Best of 2004", "Newcomer of '05" during Musiikki & Media Events, two Emma Awards for "Best Newcomer of the Year" and "Best Debut Album of the Year" and also the "Best Finnish Act" at the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards.

Poets of the Fall performed live for the first time ever outside Finland in Berlin during Popkomm 2005 and released Signs of Life in selected countries. The second album, Carnival of Rust, was released in Sweden in September 2006, in Australia, Russia and Ukraine in October 2006 and in Germany on April 20, 2007.

The Poets are currently working on their third album, which is supposed to be released in spring 2008. A new single called The Ultimate Fling will be released in Finland on February 6, 2008. The whole song can already be listened to on the band's official MySpace-website.

Sirs, if you are willing, please have Poets of the Fall as your guests, and let them show you what they can do. You can see on their website, www.poetsofthefall.com or www.myspace.com/poetsofthefall just how successful they have been so far, even though they are as yet unsigned by a major label. I encourage you to see for yourselves the sort of impact they have had in Finland and in other countries. I guarantee that they are also the kindest, most down-to-earth gentlemen you'll meet. Truly, you'd be doing the world a favor.
Sincerely,
The Fans

Or something like that. Then we'd make a list and everyone can type their name or something. I don't know, does it sound too desperate or cheesy? Any comments would be great! I'm going to post this in the Street Team thread, too.

It reads good, but please delete the reference from the Wikipedia-article you copied.

edit
You should also link to their MySpace when it's mentioned in the text.

Well, I figured the article would help with the facts, but would hurt if they knew it came from Wikipedia. But thanks for mentioning MySpace, I knew I forgot something. :P

It's good, but imho you shouldn't really delete the link to wikipedia. I saw some US show, they were making fun of wikipedia, meaning that anyone can edit it, so you could add some reference to this fact, plus then put some links to the official PotF website.

Not to mention that Wikipedia is actually accurate when it properly links to sources... I believe PotF article does the good job on that :P

Alright ya'll Lindsey is here
MO here and want to help as much as possible for me
Mostly what I can do will be net work, since I don't go to school anymore and I don't have many friends whom like them, at least not enough to promote! :(

So what can we do?
Wat if we make lots of accounts on different places i.e: bebo,Hi 5,face box and so on,and put banners on our pages and such and also get a "project Playlist" that way when people come to our pages they can here them as well

If you all think that sounds good I can post links of places where you can do that, the only thing is,if you do it you need to check fairly often to make sure you're able to awnser questions if you get them.

Anyways thats just my idea!

TA: I like the Pathfinders, pilgrims not so much, but I think Pathfinders is cute! And the article reads quite well, just wish it was coming from a critic and not fans, people like to ignore us fans LOL

EDIT:
Thought of something else to say LOL
I think tomorrow I will make a new thread, the USA Streeteam, instead of California LOL
Sound ok to everyone?

Okay, here's the shortened version of the petition:

Set up a link so that when clicked on your Email opens up with the document already written and all you have to do is put your name on it. I did this to my Sentor about internet radio tax and I actually got a letter back from him and they haven't imposed the tax on internet radio. So who knows maybe that willl help; I think if more than one person sends in these E-mails/letters it will have a better effect. It'll show that losts of people care. Just an idea.

We're also working on an idea that involves sending in a bunch of postcards, which are far more substantial and I think will create much more of an impact than an email with 13 bazillion siggies. :P

Hello! I see that POTF will be at House of Blues in Los Angeles, I want to get tickets but can't seem to find where they are sold. No ticket bastard, not even the House of Blues site. Anyone know how I can get tickets for just that night and not have to attend the entire music expo? I'm flying down from Seattle to attend so I want to make sure I have ticket for the show before I leave home.
Thanks

Unfortunately we don't have much info on this yet, but we are working on it... be sure to check the news often, and subscribe to the mailing list, and you'll be the first to know. :)

Hey guys, I'm trying to help get on the Radio here in LA.

One of LA's biggest (and oldest) radio stations is KROQ, a Rock station that actually specializes in Indy rock. http://www.kroq.com/

I've been writing in to request "The Ultimate Fling," but I'm just one person. Obviously can't do it by myself.

Anyway, click the link, click the bar "KROQ Music" and then the drawer "request a song" is all the way at the bottom. Poets aren't in the menu, so click the "write in" button.

Please and thank you?? Please please?
