I want to start a Street Team too.. This one comes all the way from India.

The name's Cherry and I'm currently working with Vh1 India. Trying my best to promote POTF around here. Not sure how to go about it, but we've been airing their first two videos (Lift and Carnival of Rust) for the past few months now. Shocking to learn we've been deprived of their music all this while, but hey.. better late than never.. right?! :)

Hi
Its great that you want to start the Indian Street Team.
Great of VH1 to show the videos of poets of the fall on TV as well
I am sure that everyone must be loving them
How do we go about creating the street team

That's the thing, see... I don't really know.. Just read a couple of posts from the 'PotF in India' thread.. was surprised to see a couple of Indians on the Forum already..

Was kinda hoping you guys would be able to help me out in that department..

There are a few things you could do to promote the band

1. tell your frineds, classmates / people you work with about them. I for example gave the CDs to some of my teachers and people I work with and asked them to buy the albums if they like them. This seems obvious, but don't forget that everyone you turn into a POTF-fan is important.

2. Don't get discouraged if people don't like their music. Remember everyone's taste is different.

3. Use the Internet. POTF videos are shown on VH1 so maybe you should visit the channels forum and start a thread about POTF. Link to their website, and to their MySpace-profile because it allows people to listen to four complete songs. The more music people can hear, the easier it is for them to decide if they like the Poets' sound or not. So tell people in other forums, people in your MSN / ICQ-list... about them and ask them to tell others if they like them.

I, for example, have a POTF-avatar and signature on every forum I am registered at.

Oh ok... then in that case, I've created a PotF Street Team long ago without even realizing it! 8)

But, question: Is there a way of defining who belongs to a particular Street Team? Like for instance, now that I've already started the thread, what if more people want to join/ decide to be a part of it..? Any tangible structure as such?

You can either use this street-team-topic to stay in touch or maybe create an own website or forum for the Indian street-team only (that's what the German team did).

Hi Marco !

Welcome to the forums. Thanks you so much for spending your free time on promoting POTF. It's really cool that some of your friends like them, too. Maybe you can go on promotion tour together. It's way more fun than doing it alone.

We should all request their videos on the local Indian music channels .. and also on the radio stations. I am already emailing VH1-India quite frequently (videorequest@vh1mail.com), to request POTF videos. Any other ideas on how to spread the word?

I sent in a request for POTF videos via this site .. they have no other contact info (email or otherwise). PLEASE send in video requests here (just in case it works!)! Thanks.

Could someone call into that request show on MTV India? I think some guy called "VJ Nikhil" plays the videos the viewers request on "MTV Select". I think you SMS him or something, and he calls you, and then there is some "chit-chat" between him and the caller, and then he plays the video. (Not sure as to the exact format however .. so check it out for yourself.)

His site: http://www.mtvindia.com/mtv/mymtv/vjgallery/nikhil/

Anyone volunteer to request their video here?
I will be happy to email in any requests, if someone can find an email link to this show .. post here if you do. Thanks.

... Hold on .. here is his email:
vjnikhil@mtvindia.com

So request away!!!!

Hey... just logged on to the PotF forum after a WHILE and was surprised at the number of posts on the Indian Street Team thread that I had started a couple of months ago...

Don't know how many of you have been watching, but we've been playing plenty of PotF on Vh1 (for those of you who don't already know, I'm a programmer with the channel)..

Also, thought you'd like to know, the Vh1 request email id doesn't apply to Vh1 India.. sorry guys..

So anybody have any idea like apart from advertisements of potf through stickers, banners & cds...what else generally the street teams members do?
