Here's a link to the Rockbaren-part of Radio City Mix Megapol's site:
http://www.radiocity.se/gbg/2163.aspx

The show is on Saturday 18.00-21.00 and you can listen to it live over the web on this link:

http://www.radiocity.se/gbg/2153.aspx
Just click where it says "Lyssna live genom att klicka här"

This is probably one of the most unnecessary posts in this thread since everyone reading this knows how too read swedish and how too use a computer well enough to find this for themselves..
Wisdom fades, links are forever..(I made that up)

Doesn't hurt to be specific, right? :P Which songs have you requested? I asked for Locking up the Sun (again), thought it would have the best chance...
And StenFan, there can never be too many Roses, we're glad to have you! :)

Yeah, Carnival of rust would be awesome too! Especially since it's the title track of second album, might ease it up for people :P Yeah tune in folks, I've even convinced my boyfriend to back off the computer for a while

May I join? Ytterligare en skåning. ;)

I've already had my boss and a few of my workmates and friends get their eyes open too POTF and I've tried to get Rocks (I work in a shop next to Rocks, the musicstore) to open their eyes as well. Oh, and I ordered one of the hoodies today. :P When I get it, Malmö will hopefully start noticing them.

I'm trying to come up with new and inspiring ways to promote POTF, here are two ideas along with some thoughts and issues that need answers:

1: Print out the sticker-sheet that is downloadable from this site and print it on sticker-paper.
The stickers can be put up anywhere(within legal limits ofcourse).
QUESTION: does anyone know where to find cheap sticker-paper to buy and/or if you need som special kind of printer?

The sticker sheet is available here: http://www.poetsofthefall.com/streetteams/

2: EDIT: Idea deleted, it was'nt lega(see my next post)

Another issue: how do we make the street-team-leaders(Tiia on this forum for example) notice what we do?
It's a vital part of the work we do since we dont want to miss out on all the sweet merchendize or free tickets available, do we?

I think both of your ideas sound great! I don't think you need a special printer, but you're gonna need that sticker paper. Maybe you could buy it at a local book store? I'll check it out.
When it comes to the CD's, yeah, getting POTF's permission first would be a good idea. Maybe we should check with Tiia or something before we do it.
And don't worry 'bout the merchandise and tickets... I'm sure we'll get our reward when the time comes :D

We have stickerpaper at work for sale. I don't know if we actually have it in store right now, but I know for sure that I can get it within two or three days. That's the positive part about working in an Expert store. :) But you wil need a photoprinter to make best use of them, though. Oh, and we'll get them alot cheaper if I buy them... About 50% cheaper.

Okay, you think you could get it for us and we'll pay to you? And if I can only access a normal printer, would it still work, and maybe just not look as pretty as with a photo printer? :?

I got an answer from Tiia about burning CD's that we could hand out to DJ's or the local pub.

Quote:
Hey there!

We finally talked about this with the band & the management and unfortunately the answer is no.. the biggest problem in this is the fact that restaurants can't play CDR's cause it's illegal. They might get a fine for doing that. As a restaurant is a business and a public place, they must get their music through the official routes which basicly means they have to buy the records or mp3's or whatever they play.

I'm sorry to tell you this the idea was ok, but these things are always difficult.

So the best way to promote must be the flyers & the stickers.

--Tiia

Flyers, stickers and any new ideas you might come up with it is then! :!:

Ouch, what a shame, I really liked that idea... Couldn't hurt though to wish for POTF at the local clubs? Maybe if we nag about it enough and stick some flyers in their hands, they'll get curious eventually and check it out...

Welcome, fellow Rose :) Nice to see us expanding
About burning CD's, I read about a Street Team who had burned some CD's with a few POTF singles on and 'accidentally' left them in strategic places... Now I was thinking if this would be illegal too, like the pub & club idea? hmm... :?

Welcome Raven and Nemmy and all you other Roses!
Becalli, ask Tiia about that. Leaving them in places might be legal since you dont give them to someone specifically to play in public places... :?

Another idea that crossed my mind when I was reading a newsarticle about it.. does anyone here know about geocaching?
Read about it here: http://www.geocaching.com/faq/
Might be one way to spread a burned CD 8)

I've done some research about spreading CD's in public, and it seems we are free to go. Let's launch that project right away!

Great, we have both coasts covered! Atleast part of it.. we need more people from the other side of the arctic circle.

Stoffie, whats the story on that sticker paper? Did you get any and can it come to good use? 8)

I've checked the paper out a bit more and no, it needs a photoprinter... It's to thick to work in a normal printer, I'm afraid... That's the problem with all photopapers.

But I se no problem to help you out by buying them with my discount for you. And we'll share the cost... I won't let you take the whole cost for it. ;)

Okay! Well, unfortunately I only have access to a regular printer. Guess I'll put my energy in promoting in other ways. How bout kicking some life in to the CD idea? I figured I'd make some copies and have a nice walk around town leaving them in different places. Just thought I'd look into where you could get the cheapest CD pack first :)

How about doing something like a "spread-the-word-day" where all of us engage in our different cities? Or maybe even meet up and do it? We could spread both flyers and CD's, and it just might have a better impact on folks if we do some kind of organized effort... and btw, how we gonna make our my-space-thing?

Hi again Beccali, sorry to have been away from this forum. Let's get on this again street team Sweden!

I'm up for a meeting or anything special. I'll start with a mix-cd of rockmusic, including POTF of course, to pass out to friends and family around town.

Becalli, do you have a myspace? Mine is http://www.myspace.com/rickardsernlo
Feel free to visit, I'll add you as friends without questions 8)

I don't know alot about making a great looking myspace profile, but I know Ebeeto is a handy when it comes to webdesign. Today I sent a message to the German street team asking for tips.

No prob, I think many of us have been lazy doing this thing lately, but that's about to change! CHARGE, people! :P

Yeay, let's arrange a special day/week/whatever when we really put our asses to work. Me and my pal can do flyer/CD handout in Gothenburg, which city will you cover, Sandrew?

I checked out your Myspace, thought it looks nice! It's a shame we don't have one for Sweden yet, but maybe we could work something out together? I don't have a myspace-profile, least not yet, I gave it a try when I wanted to fix one for our street team, but it just made me go competely confused... I'm not scared to try again if you folks would like to, but I think it would look a lot better with someone who knows his stuff  Let's see what the Germans say about it, maybe they can help us out? I know their site looks awesome

Hey fellas, I got great news! "Don't Mess With Me" was played last Saturday, Rockbaren radio again, and again due to fan requests! This means we're down the right track, so keep requesting, the least we can do to support our boys :D

Radiopromotion for The Ultimate Fling Single has started in Sweden so all the requests are very much appreciated!

And I think that it´s time to remind some of the promoters and the festival organisers which bands they should keep in mind choosing the line-up for festivals like:

-Hultsfred
-Arvikafestivalen

...and all other Swedish festivals.

thanks!
