'Consciousness Explained' by Daniel Dennett. Last fiction book I read would have been The Curious incident of the dog in the night time, or Angels and Demons (by the bloke that wrote the Da Vinci Code)

Jonathan Glover: Humanity

Way heavy book which tells the tales of the ones that have been responsible of massmurders and torture but also the regular soldiers in war. What is the way they reason to themselfs the things they do. It was good to read this but it makes you so sad

Philip Pullman - The Amber Spyglass

And it's not just a book with a pretty cover. It's the last book in Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy and it's just.. wow. So many twists and turns, and a bittersweet ending. You hate it and you love it, it leaves you both happy and sad. The whole trilogy is just amazing. Some call it better than Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. In a way, it is better. In another way, there are no Elves. So boo :(

Astrid Lindgren's My brother Lionheart (Bröderna lejonhjärta or something, Veljeni Leijonamieli anyway.)

It's actually somekind of a fairytale, but I think it's touching and adults can read it as well. I can't say anything else about this one. It's kind of a classic here in Finland, I guess.. (Is it?)

I agree 100%. The trilogy is highly undervalued and i think it has suffered from all the fussing around Harry Potters. As if there is nothing else going on the fantasybookworld when new Potter is released.

Robin Hobb's Fools fate ( Tawny man 3 )

IMHO her Farseer saga is pretty good.

Again??? Alreary the fact that she had to go and kill ** totally spoiled the series for me... It's not a like I was a big fan before, but I kinda liked them. Don't shoot me

Oh, and not to go too far off topic :D last book read: David Eddings - Book one of the Belgariad

I l ike the way the Harry Potter books get increasingly mature as the characters do. It's a nice touch.

And don't forget, she's killed two characters now - one of Harry's fellow students died in Goblet of Fire.

So who do you think's due for the chop in 6? I'm thinking maybe Arthur Weasley.

Oh, and to keep this on-topic - last book I read was American Gods by Neil Gaiman. Unsurprisingly a fantastic work of modern fantasy/mythology. I read an average of a book every couple of days though, if not more often, and frequently I have more than one on the go at once, so that's just the last of a long list.

(In case you're wondering - this week, Demonstorm by James Barclay, latest in the Raven Chronicles; Warriors of the Tempest, third in the Orcs! trilogy by Stan Nicholls; Mortal Ruin and Gothic Pursuit by John Malcolm, murder mysteries in the art world; and about a dozen comics, because my monthly order arrived two days ago. Score!)
