Hello fellow Danes,
Since there was no thread covering the Danish involvement in the Poets of the Fall Street Team, I wanted to start this one so that we may start discussing what to do in Denmark.

I was thinking of several locations in Copenhagen where we could spread some posters and stickers around; for example, many schools and universities have blackboards for such subjects. Placing such adverts in the centre of the city would be a wise idea too. Additionally, we could make several song requests at radio stations nationwide to help spread the word.

Lastly, I recommend reading through this thread created by Tiia, which covers some advertising at MySpace, which could definitely help. If you know any Danish community or music related web sites, please feel free to share them here.

I guess we have some time to plan this, since there have been no specific announcements regarding them visiting Denmark yet.

I'm willing to see what I can do to spread the word in Århus. :)
I was thinking of grabbing my stereo and driving to Bruun's Galleri and see if I can stand there for a few hours and spread the love.

I suppose promoting in Copenhagen would be ideal, now that they play at The Rock in May :)

I dunno if I am able to do that, since I'm pretty busy here in my last year of high school, but if I get some time, I will find a way of doing something. Otherwise, starting to request them on the radio would be wise, I think. And in "Boogie".

Yeah. You should definitely promote the gig - we can send you flyers or stickers to do that, I think :)

Oh well, something should definately be arranged. I have tried to request them for Roskilde, but apparently I have failed :(

Otherwise, requesting them on P3 would be an obvious try. Natradio is, as far as I know, the most likely to accept requests, so here's a link for that. http://www.dr.dk/P3/Natradio/

:?

Here's a link for radio 100fm's JUKEBOX:

http://radio100fm.dk/?artikelid=1731

Mix fm

http://www.mixfm.dk/

In general, it is difficult to request songs on Danish radios afaik :(

Great to hear from all of you! I was wondering if we should make a logo for the Danish Street Team. If so, have we already decided on some universal style? I am seeing many different variants in the various threads covering each country, so I think we will have some artistic freedom for this. It would be nice to have some clarification regarding this matter.

As to other radio and TV stations, which we could request the band on, here are some more to choose from:

MTV (http://www.mtv.dk/)
The MTV web site does not state anything about band or song requests, but perhaps it would be possible to somehow contact them and ask about these things? Information on how to contact MTV is available at the following web site:

http://www.mtv.dk/overdrive.php?StoryId=125

The Voice (http://www.thevoice.fm/)
It is possible to request songs at http://www.thevoice.dk/mobile.jsp?subpage=smsdj&menuId=626185 by sending an SMS with the following text (without the quotation marks):

"Voice + your request" to 1999.

Since this is an SMS service, the fee for sending such requests is 2 DKK per SMS (always nice to see corporations using such techniques to earn money...). According to the page above, this service may also be used for sending in regular comments, which might be used for promoting their visit in Denmark.

TV2 Radio (http://radio.tv2.dk/)
The newly launched TV2 Radio could be another good place to request Poets of the Fall on. It is possible to contact the radio station using the following formula. However, I am not sure if it should be used for requesting bands and songs.

http://radio.tv2.dk/kontakt/

That would be it for now. Feel free to drop by with your comments and suggestions at any time! :-)

I don't know if I will be able to do anything. My sis and I are driving to Copenhagen on the 24th and staying until the next day, but I won't be able to go to copenhagen before that, mostly because it is way too expensive to drive over there. :(

Although, I could ask if I could hang up some posters and stuff in the trainstation in Århus. Loads of people from Copenhagen are going through there, so maybe that was an idea?

Actually.. the gig posters were meant to be spread around Copenhagen (where the gig is), but guess it's not bad to have a few somewhere else too

Some crowded parts of the main street in the centre of the city should now be covered, as well as outside of The Rock. I also put up the posters and flyers inside a university and at a high school, which will hopefully give some attention to Thursday's event.

A few more posters have been up for quite a few hours in central Copenhagen now. :)

Next time I'd suggest using smaller POTF stickers - less is more.

edit: typo..

Thank you, Tiia! MelesMeles has also done a great job of spreading the posters :-)

Another batch of good news: I managed to put up another poster right at the beginning of the biggest main street in the centre of Copenhagen right next to a flashy McDonalds. I, of course, asked for permission beforehand, so that the band would not get in any kind of trouble (with that said, I made sure not to connect Poets of the Fall with McDonald's in any way).

Before heading home, I made sure that the rest of the posters were not taken down (I had to fix one poster near The Rock, as some people had decided that it was okay to tear it down).

See you all tomorrow!

Radiopromotion for The Ultimate Fling Single will soon start in Denmark so all the requests are appreciated!

And I think that it´s time to remind some of the promoters and the festival organisers which bands they should keep in mind choosing the line-up for festivals like:

-Roskilde
-Skanderborg Festival

...and some other Danish festivals.

thanks!

Do you know which radio stations will be promoting the single?

Hey there everyone!
I thought this would be a great time to start hearing more from the Poets in our Danish regions (a new album is out, after all), so here is a compilation of some well-known Danish radio and TV stations and festivals where it is possible to request their music (thanks also to Tiia, Mariamus, and Vlad the Great for sharing their findings):

Boogie (Radio)
http://www.dr.dk/boogieradio/20061004160023.htm

Boogie (TV)
http://www.dr.dk/DR1/Boogie/Skriv+til+Boogie/

Mix FM
http://www.mixfm.dk/ (lower left corner)

MTV
http://www.mtv.dk/overdrive.php?StoryId=125 (I am not sure if they accept requests on this page)

Radio 100FM
http://www.radio100fm.dk/?artikelid=1731

Radio ABC
http://www.radioabc.dk/indhold/posthus.htm

The Voice
http://www.thevoice.dk/mobile.jsp?subpage=requests (There are several categories to choose from, so why not go with them all? :-))

Train
http://www.train.dk/musikbooking.asp

TV 2 Go'aften Danmark (TV)
http://goaften.tv2.dk/tip/

TV 2 Radio
http://radio.tv2.dk/kontakt/

Unfortunately, Tiia, the Roskilde Festival web site states that all submissions are now closed for the 2008 festival. However, it will be possible to send in your requests again in October, where the submissions for the 2009 festival will begin.

On a different note, it would be cool to spread some flyers around Copenhagen. Would anyone here know some good clubs, pubs, concert halls, and so on where this would be possible (something like The Rock or Faust, for example)?

Two new additions to the list:

Radio City
http://www.rockdukender.dk/musikonsker/generel.htm (a new Danish rock radio station)

Rockfesten
http://www.rockfesten.dk/ (now, it is probably not possible to send in requests, but it might be interesting if they plan on making new festivals in the future)
