Okay, so the general consensus so far is that it's too long. That's fine, I only threw in the Wikipedia article for the facts, nothing more. That can easily be tossed. out. As for saying they are unsigned, yeah, I was afraid of that too, but put that in so they can see that despite that fact the Poets are doing so well. 8) Anybody else got some ideas? We should really get going on this a.s.a.p.!

EDIT: No, I don't mind any and all changes, I want this to be a group effort. 8) However, I am worried other Americans won't see these comments, even in the Street Team thread. Would it be all right to unite them somehow and put it in a place where everyone can see it? Like in FreeTalk or something? :?

Hmmm, would MySpace help at all? They've got a *LOT* of US fans over there, who prob never read the forum.. but that would mean a lot of work - to try and find them (read: go through people one by one just to find out where they're from) and send messages and/or a link to the forum and the idea or something..

So if anyone's really really bored and has too much time on his/her hands...

To Mr. Conan O'Brian and Co,

Hello from several voices around the world! No, this isn't someone with Multiple Personality Disorder, though that would make for an interesting guest, wouldn't it? Nope, I'm just an ordinary American with some extraordinary friends from all over the world, and well, we need your help.

No, we're not asking for money or fame, or to help with some great cause to save the world. Actually, scratch that last statement, because I and my friends truly feel that music goes a long way to heal hearts, souls and minds. The music I'm writing about comes from a little band hailing from a country that you, Mr. O'Brian, came to visit and did a show about. I'm talking about Finland, and the music is made by a band called Poets of the Fall.

Poets of the Fall is without a doubt the most unique, refreshing rock music on the planet. I may not be a music critic, but I can tell you that their blend of catchy melodies, powerful rhythm, and thought-provoking lyrics are a breath of fresh air in the rock music scene. This is something that is so desperately needed, especially in America, and so this is why we have created this petition. You have the power to bring this band to the attention of America and thus, the world.

All of their songs are in English and are unlike anything you've heard today, primarily because of the very different musical backgrounds of the core 3 'Poets'. They have released two albums to this date, and their first platinum selling album "Signs of Life" is one of the most successful self-produced and self-distributed albums in the history of Finnish music. The band has won several awards which include the 2004 Game Audio Network Guild Award in the "Best Original Vocal Song – Pop", two Finnish Grammys, aka. 'Emma Awards' for "Best Newcomer of the Year" and "Best Debut Album of the Year" and the "Best Finnish Act" at the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards.

So, if you are willing, please have Poets of the Fall as your musical guests. You can visit their websites, www.poetsofthefall.com or www.myspace.com/poetsofthefall to hear just how inspiring they are. If you do bring them to play on your show, then truly, you'd be doing the world a favor.

Sincerely,
The Fans

I have to admit, I really do like this cleaned-up version better (with one minor correction.) Thank you for your help. Okay, I can't do it now, as mySpace is banned here at work, but I'll send this to the American MySpace page and see if they can do anything with it. I haven't gotten a response yet, but I'm not going to give up. As the old saying goes, the squeaky wheel gets the oil! :D

:D Hey miss squeaky wheel! Start a new topic about this on the Poets' section!! LET'S DO THIS!!!

Also, we need to think about sending some postcards and fan letters first to just one person (who?), who'd then collect them all in a huuuge BOX and send them over to Conan. (The postal fees shouldn't be a problem, I'll take care of them if nothing else.)

Yes:

HUUUGE. BOX.

We'll get it FULL.

Or: you can come up with better ideas people :) HOPHOPHOP!! as we say in Finland.

Hello USA. I heard that POTF are going to perform in Los Angeles. I am very happy for you because it's one of the new places that POTF are performing. I hope that you can bring some pictures of the gig after the show. Congratulation. :)

Tiia,

Why do you say "hophophop" in Finland? Do you all speak English? Is it anything like "chop chop"?

Also, do you know of any interviews with the band in English? Watching Finnish tv interviews is only so satisfying when you don't understand a word.

Thanks very much!

I agree that POTF needs to come to America. I posted a comment on their Facebook asking if they were going to tour in the US, and I got a response! They responded that there are no promises, but it's definitely part of the plan. <3

I'm new here but I'm also from America in Las Vegas, NV though I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. I do solemnly swear that I shall agree to the statement that POTF shall, must, and will come to North America and tour! But considering the little fanbase here, they need to open for some major American bands. So to come to conclusion who they should tour with based on sound and distance from countries (meaning bands from Europe) and popularity here, they should tour with these bands:

H.I.M. (They're also from Finland as well :) and they have toured North America a lot due to their mainstream fanbase here)
Coldplay
Muse
Deep Insight (They could also open along with POTF)
Lacuna Coil
Rammstein
Shinedown
The Veer Union
Alter Bridge
COLD
U2
Coheed and Cambria

Anyone agree?

Wow! I had no idea this thread existed, which is weird, since everyone on here was talking about the same exact thing I have been doing for a month

Now Conan is on TBS, in LA and I think the best way to get to him is to send postcards. Like someone said earlier in the thread........make it short so they will read it!

Better yet, make it short, and include pretty pictures of Tennessee........ok well maybe not Tennessee........

And contacting TBS by their email and they even have a phone number for viewers!

Awesome, because most definitely, America does <3 Poets of The Fall!

About the poll...

Well I personally like each individual song on Signs of Life better but for some reason Carnival of Rust as a whole sounds better to me, and since 'Maybe Tomorrow is a Better Day' is on CoR and has made my day so much better countless times, I'll support Carnival of Rust.

Man it would be great to see them come tour the Rockies.

Hey guys, is anyone like me from North America and wish Poets would tour through soon? I personally think it would be the greatest thing since Brendan Small was born.
