My thoughts exactly...
The reason so many people are angry is not only this particular case. OK, I don't have XBox and I'll buy one just to play Alan Wake. No problem. Oh, GTA 5 is coming to Nintendo DS... Oookay, I think I could afford that too, no problem. Yay, Modern Warfare 3 is coming to PS3! What I am, a cow? Buying new console every time a game pops out is not my taste. Would you like to have to buy separate cars for going to work, going to shop, going to anywhere? Not to mention that game controllers are very different one from another and you have to change your habits for every game. This is not just a single case with this game. Many people here have different consoles after all.
Now the next crap: "It's much easy to concentrate on a building a game for a single console". Considering the fact Remedy was working 3 years for a PC platform, and then having to completely rewrite it for a different platform is anything but "easy". Even if it is, then it would be just that easy to rewrite it again for PC. I don't blame Remedy, I'm sure they were "happy" to trow away everything and start over. It's better for the gamers to have late released game with morally old engine just to satisfy Microsoft. We all lose. But Remedy can't complain, they don't wanna loose their jobs. Thanks, MS!
Third: At programmers' point of view, this war is disastrous! To spend big part of your life just to learn how to build something for one console, to get a job doing that, and one day they fire you just because they are shrinking programming teams. And programmers are out of job and if they want to work what they like, they must relearn programming for a different console just to get a job. That is waste of talent! Instead of improving, you have to start over. This is not the way of progress, this is to skid at one place.
And not to say I'm just flaming, I'll say it would be cheaper for you to get a XBox, than to upgrade your PC for a PC version of Alan Wake (upgrade would cost much more).
