I dunno if anyone's made this topic before so i thought id make it myself.

So today my girlfriend and I broke up, and my method of dealing with a brake up is to put on some music and go on a long walk, but i found every time i'm in this situation i always listen to the same songs:
Beautiful Ones (PotF)
Everybody Hurts (R.E.M)
Heart's A Mess (Gotye)
I Dont Wanna Miss A Thing (Aerosmith)

and recently:
Somebody That I Used To Know (Gotye)
Snuff (Slipknot)

So this got me wondering what songs you guys and girls listen to to help you cope with a break up? this could be useful to expand my repertoire or maybe you'll find some new ones yourself ^_^

"No End, No Beginning" by potf describes my whole current life. The very first sentence pretty much says it all. "We can't seem to let go." Kamikaze Love is a good one too.

Take care man. Relationships can be so hard sometimes :(

Yeah well, Poets of the Fall just tends to be the only band that usually make me feel something lyrics-wise.

But one other non-potf song comes to mind: Rise Against - Roadside. Gives me the chills when I'm in the right mood 8)

Maybe you can try:

Mumford & Sons - White blank pages
Vertical Horizon - Best I ever had
Matchbox 20 - Leave
Joshua Radin - One of those days
James Blunt - Goodbye my lover & If time is all I have
Hinder - Better than me

First of all, you should not just lay down and waste your life with regrets. Congratulations, you just lost somebody that doesn't love you, if she left you.

To stay on the topic:
I warmly recommend The Swell Season - Strict Joy album. At the time the album was written, Glen Hansard (lead vocal) broke up with Marketa Irglova (lead vocal). The whole album is spiced with all the emotions that probably you go through now. It's more than just words and melodies. Imagine you have to work intimately with the person that you were together just yesterday. Basically, they sing what they want to tell each other (I know we are not what I promised we would become). Be very careful when listening to it - a man killed himself during their gig! If you feel dragged into a black hole for too long, change the music with something faster and more happy. My suggest is Phoenix Effect - Phoenix Effect album (When trouble clouds surround you, you need to stand your ground).

Take care and never lose faith!

Broke up with my Girlfriend Saturday September 1st. (A relationship of 2 years and 5+ months...)

I can listen to all music, but whenever I'm sad, (Especially for the last two weeks) I always resort to nearly all songs of Poets of the Fall. They really help me through it. I can't explain it.

I love her so much still... Can't let her go... My heart won't let her go...
But it was better for her that we broke up. Yet my mind doesn't seem to agree...

Here's a song that's still kinda new-ish. Really speaks from a place of bitterness.

Aranda-Satisfied

I really need to thank everyone for all their support right now, such kindness from strangers is just unheard of, so thank you all, i appreciate it more than i can express. and i think i speak for everyone when i say our thoughts go out to Timecontroll and every other broken heart that's read this thread. Arvigeus had the right attitude: "Never Lose Faith"

In relationship trouble I tend to listen to Springsteen's Tunnel of Love album, especially the second half.

Less than that:
- Loose Ends (Springsteen)
- Breathe (Melissa Etheridge)
- Amnesty is granted (Sammy Hagar)

oh and of course The ultimate Fling, because it's OK to feel angry too.

*hugs* to those who recently went through a break up.

In a PotF Forum "The Beautiful Ones" obviously has to be mentioned.
But other songs I'd pick would be "Play Crack The Sky" by Brand New and "Nichts In Der Welt" by Die Ärzte (a German band).
