What other Finnish bands do you like besides POTF?
I like:

Mannhai
- Great 70s style heavy rock, you can download few of their songs from their homepages, http://www.mannhai.com

Wigwam
- Finland's only really succesful band in the 70s. Prog rock at it's finest.

Waltari
- You can't really describe them, you gotta hear them.

Kingston Wall
- They played Hendrix-like 70s style psychedelic rock. It's a shame that they didn't last more than 3 albums.

Zero Nine
- Great heavy metal band from the 80s

Well you forgot:

Eppu Normaali
- Legendary finnish rockband that has been together since 1979. Not so well known in other countries coz their lyrics are in finnish.

Nightwish
- Rising finnish "soft" heavyband that gets better every time it makes something new. www.nightwish.com

I&I
- Young finnish rockband from Turku. Their music sound very fresh and free. www.iiband.com

Hihi, eipä suomalainen suuruus vie paljoa tilaa ;)

Just making a remark in mi owne language that this list is awfully short.. I'll just HAVE to put these on it, although they aren't quite my favourites: Hanoi Rocks and (the) Rasmus, of which the latter was very much my fav, when I was fifteen.. Now it's become mainstream bs, too thick to listen to.

It would be SO cool to see that kind of growth happening to the Poets IF only it means they won't change their music.

I have listened to Eppu Normaali as long as I can remember. Other good bands are Neljä Ruusua, Zen Café, Soul Captain Band, Nightwish.. there're lots of them.. and HIM (now I said it :D).

Varo vaan

No, it's cool :) One of my all-time favourites is Egotrippi. It took them over ten years to become really popular, gotta respect that effort they made. And are still going strong!!

Finnish bands don't tend to be particularly known in the UK so my list is somewhat short :( (and I think all previously mentioned too!)

HIM
Nightwish
Sonata Arctica
Sentenced
Agonizer

Less US rap cr*p and more Finnish bands for the UK Pleeeeeeeease!

Children of Bodom is a Finnish band I believe.

Cool Bands from the cold North are mostly from Norway or Sweden.

hih... I must be the only one here who listens to more "soft" music. :D

Any of you know
Sister Flo
Wojciech
Lemonator
Office Building
The Crash (my love since Comfort Deluxe)
Daisy
Absoluuttinen Nollapiste?

Well those are the ones whose carreer I've been following most.

Nightwish
Sonata Arctica
and many other various Finnish artists are good too, I just don't have enough time to get to know them better. First I'm planning to get to know the nynny-indie  rock/pop-scene in Finland thoroughly, before proceeding deeper.

Nightwish's new album is bloody amazing. Tuomas has turned in to a sexy bitch and Marco is now my hero. That goatee is friggin' amazing.

How come nobody mentioned Bumfunk MC?
Or, aren't they from Finland?
I remember they had a BIG hit in Denmark back in 97 or something like that...
And the Rasmus also had a hit... In the Shadows...

Bomfunk MC's is from Finland, but at least I don't consider it being a great band.

Well, who would?
The only reason I mentioned them, was because I didn't remember if they WERE from Finland...
But you heard it every day for two months or so...

If you like hiphop, then try this finnish artist Redrama. He can beat Eminem :)

Always wanted to do this, so:

22-Pistepirkko
69 Eyes
Amorphis
Apocalyptica
The Crash
Day Eleven
Don Johnson Big Band
Giant Robot
Hanoi Rocks
HIM
Husky Rescue
Killer
The Latebirds
Lodger
Nightwish
Nuspirit Helsinki
Paleface
POETS OF THE FALL
Private Line
Quintessence
The Rasmus
Redrama
Stratovarius
Velcra
Wigwam
The Winyls

A couple oldtimers, few already known and some up-and-coming... And didn´t count in any artist singing finnish.

I've heard of Quintessence, only in passing though. Are they very good?
