hmmm, best rock band in the united states? ummmm.....didn't think there was such a thing  . Honestly, I dont like much music coming from my own country, I literally will only listen to european music. I think music coming from the USA has lost all value behind it and has turned into trash. But that's just my small opinion. *Thinks about it some more*, no, I'm wrong, there are good bands here, I just dont follow them religiously like potf. If I had to call one of the bands we've got here my favorite it would have to be Counting Crows, and not the "new" counting crows, the old school counting crows. I was about to say Coldplay but then remember they are british, lol. See, I just can't get away from Europes great music! Thanks guys!

Check out the Polish rock band Myslovitz. They're pretty good! You can watch the video to their song Sound of Solitude (the english version of Długość dźwięku samotności. See more at YouTube. (I suggest Sprzedawcy marzeń (Dreamsellers) !)

For Canada? I'd have to say Nickleback or Rush. Enough said.

LoL.. I guess your right. But there aren't many good choices here. I would gladly move to Europe any day, where better bands are.
But Rush is still my fav.

Wow, dj_lumberjack you never cease to amaze, amuse, and give me insight. I totally agree, most of Americas music groups are total trash. Lets see, my favorite American band... um, R.E.M., Forigner, I would say The Cure, but they are british. REM and Forigner are my 2nd and 3rd favorite bands, The Cure is the 4th. Yes, Poets of the Fall is #1

Yeah, Flex... we Canadians don't have much in the way of good stuff here.. too hip-hop infested.

I'd like to say Garbage, but well, they're Scottish.. so.. gagh.. i dunno.

From here in good ol' Canadia, I'm gonna go with Rush too. 2112 Overture: thing of awesomeness. 8) Gotta love a band brave enough to base a song on an Ayn Rand book.

Though I like a lot of bands from the U.S. I would have to say my two favorite would be. . .

Switchfoot
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJdgAvd97lU

And

Augustana
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxtIfWMy3Es

there are others. But I don't want to fill this topic with links.

Very true, there just isn't really much worth listening to in the US anymore. I have a hard time finding new rock music anyway, we're being bombarded by too much sick rap. Not saying there isn't anything good, but it's hard trying to find something good among all of the crap.

As for some choices, there is Panic! At the Disco, a band that has some really interesting songs.

There's... The Nadas, a band that is probably mostly known about around Iowa, being they are from Ames. I've only heard a few songs from the radio, but one that seems to stick out is "Walk Away", which can be heard on the show "Pinks" from the Speed Channel.

System of a Down is a pretty good hard-ish rock metal band. Interestingly enough, they're apparently going on haitus for a couple years to do their own thing, then come back again.

Those are some of the few I consider around the US that actually play 'music' nowadays. As for past artists (I enjoy the oldies more than the new stuff), there's...

The Cars
Foreigner
Guns N' Roses
Hall and Oates
Mötley Crüe
Quiet Riot
REO Speedwagon
Toto (actually released new material earlier this year)
----

Even through all of this, they hardly compare to foreign artists, like Bryan Adams, Cutting Crew, and the incredible Poets of the Fall. :)

We have even more good bands.
IRA - probably the best polish rock band
Negatyw - similar to already mentioned Myslovitz, but with not so good PR ;)
Coma - one of best newcomers of last years
Sweet Noise - well, it is rock... but it's in kinda Sweet Noise way :D
Bracia - may be a surprise, but their debut album is very good and it's rock-in-good-ol'-style :)
Blade Loki :) - not so known, but really nice :)
and, playing rather hard, Vader and Behemoth.

aaaaaand, of coooourse, Ich Troje, Virgin and Blog 27 :P

Oh, btw, we have had a band that could make a world-wide success, O.N.A., but unfortunately the band no longer exists.

I checked the site, too, and I got frustrated. :D

And what comes to my favorite finnish band (and not counting Poets), it's so damn hard to say.
Best bands making music in finnish are 51koodia and Zen Café (aaaand Egotrippi and Ultramariini and... *sigh*) and best ones making their music in english -besides Poets, d'uh- Deep Insight and X-prophets, perhaps.

And hey, you americans! You've got LIVE! Isn't that something or what?

Er... Favourite moroccan rock band?  ... Actually there are some cool bands here, like Syncop (Progressive metal, singing in English) or Hoba Hoba Spirit ( some kind of fusion between rock, reggae and "gnawa"[a folklore music] , singing in French, moroccan arabic, and sometimes in english...), and by far my favourite : Mastabe ( an electro-rock band, english singing too )

Check it out ^^ :
http://www.megaupload.com/fr/?d=FE7CJWWS = Syncop - State of Mind (more like a ballad)

http://www.megaupload.com/fr/?d=XHT6N9YS = Syncop - Excpectation ( I love the bass intro, very oriental melody :P )

http://www.megaupload.com/fr/?d=E74Z4SXR = Hoba Hoba Spirit - Lmirikane (A crazy song about the US of America  )

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ASWWSFN3 = Mastabe - Acid Tears

http://www.megaupload.com/fr/?d=453CBAIP = Mastabe - Chemical Pain
