Pretend for a moment that you have the opportunity to help write the set list for a private event performed by Poets for you and whomever else you wish to attend. The set list need not be exclusively Poets' own songs; you may choose absolutely any song you desire. With this in mind, which songs would you like to see the boys perform covers of?

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Marko cover "Dancing in the Moonlight."

I was actually thinking about this the other day. I thinks Poets would do an AMAZING cover of Hallelujah.

I'd love to hear them perform "Total eclipse of the heart" or "Objects in the rear view mirror may appear closer than they are"

Funny you should mention "Total Eclipse of the Heart." Another band I like had something amazing happen to them with that song. While fooling with the audience, the audience took over and sang the band a song. It's the kind of thing that every band should experience at least once, I think.

Walk Away & Liverpool Rain & Feels Like Flying - Racoon

Me & My Monkey & Let me entertain You - Robbie Williams

Lightning Crashes & Run to the water - Live

Somebody to Love - Queen

Dang, I was sure we already had another thread about cover versions, but apparently I was mistaken. Anyway, some interesting suggestions here. I have to think about this some more.

There it is, thank you. I searched, but could not find it. Wrong search term I guess, because this thread never came up.

I didn't see it either, but then I was also looking in the wrong place.

If that means this thread must be deleted, I completely understand.

Wut? No. :D Don't worry, sensible posts or threads never get deleted here. :)
They can be merged, but I think we can keep both threads since this one has so many replies already. And I didn't find that old thread either even though I tried. Now that the old thread has been linked to in this one, people can go check that out as well if they want. :)

Beautiful Day by U2

A cover version(read it as POTF version!) of this song would rock! :) I'd really like to hear Marko singing in this great song *imagines*

That'd be actually a challenge. I love to hear how Marko would scream, Olli play the insane solo, and touches Captain would add. 8)

The Doors - The Crystal Ship.
This song is absolutely amazing. It had been covered earlier many times, btw in 90s, by Duran Duran - their cover was brilliant, I liked their version even more than the Doors' itself... And I'm convinced that this song would fit Poets' style and Marko's voice quite well... Well, just a little dream

Speaking of Duran Duran, there are many songs by them which would sound awesome if covered by Poets.

Oh, wow. My list could go on forever  okay, let's think...Enjoy the Silence by Depeche Mode, I'd love to hear them cover that. Dance with the Devil or Anthem of the Angels by Breaking Benjamin, either one of those would be beautiful covered by the Poets, or an acoustic version of Oliver Boy by Flogging Molly.

Dharma, speaking of Duran Duran, they are really a good band with a huge amount of really good music :) but frankly, in my opinion, their style is a lil bit modern and probably too trendy for Poets' cover...

@moomrick I'm glad and even a bit surprised if you feel Duran Duran are modern and trendy :D Because for me they are a band from the far gone '80s. But that only shows us how well the band has aged - meaning they haven't aged at all. I think that's awesome :)

Dharma, maybe it is because I'm rather old  their music is one of memories of my youth :) and as I feel myself still young, they remain modern and actual for me.

Honestly, here's my top setlist for what our guys could do for other artists' pieces.

The Earth Song-Michael Jackson

Mad World-Gary Jules

Everybody Wants To Rule The World-Tears for Fears

Seasons of Wither-Aerosmith

Bohemian Rhapsody-Queen

Paint it Black-The Rolling Stones

OUT OF LEFT FIELD: Yellow Raven-Scorpions

And many, many more....(so goes the endorsement)

Someone's just reminded me of this song on Facebook, quite possibly my favourite French song of all times, and although it sounds great by itself, I think POTF could make a wonderful rendition of it.
There's no official video, so if you're interested, I suggest you pray Saint Google.

Morphée, by F.F.F. (dates back to 1996, I was young back then)

Since Marko apparently speaks some French, he could bend his voice around the lyrics, I guess.

Fun fact: F.F.F.'s lead singer's first name is Marco.

It would be funny to see Marko try to do Rap God by Eminem. Especially the "Super Sonic Speed" part. LOL  But seriously, I think covers of Live and Learn and What I'm Made Of, both by Crush 40, would be pretty sick :)

How about this.... Jeremiah Peacekeeper is a beautiful ballad and I think it would be interesting to hear them do some of the old cowboy ballads. For example, Marty Robbins had a lot of them, but I would specifically like to hear Streets of Laredo. And maybe for a bit more modern ballads, Garth Brook's In Lonesome Dove.
I think the vocals and guitar would be phenomenal.
