well, since it's something you do once and for all (I mean.. you can have more tatooes, but each one is to be done once and to last a long long time), then 60€ is not that much, is it?
and looking for the cheapest one might not be the best for a tatoo...

You're right, 60€ isn't really that much for a great piece of art on your body but the prize goes up with the size and complexcity and being a poor student I don't think I can afford one in the near future.

Come to Ukraine for a tatoo. We have really great tatoo artists (at least I know a couple of such in my city) and the prices are considerably lower than in Western Europe. A basic one starts from EUR 25-30. So, welcome :)

I don't doubt that you have great tattoo artists in Ukraine, but I don't think I'd ever go to a different country for a tat (or get one on vacation).l I'd just be too scared that I'd have nobody to turn to in case something does not tiurn out the way I wanted it or something unforseen happens. Besides, a trip to Ukraine costs some money too.
Just my .02 cents

To me it also means a whole lot where I get my tattoo done. I also need a connection between the country and the meaning of the tatt. For example I'd never ever get a Finnish moose head tattooed in lower south-east Uzbekistan. That's why I got my POTF tattoo done in Finland. Now when I look at it I always reminisce of what it means to me, the memories, the story behind, where it all started, what it did to me, what it helps me to become. :)

I didn't know you had a POTF tat Sascha. :)
And you have a point there. A decision about something you will have for life should not be so lightharted that it does not matter where you have it done or by whom.

My first tattoo! <3

Image

I have wanted to get a tattoo for almost fifteen years. And when I heard Stand Your Ground I understood that I have the right to be myself and if I want to get a tattoo, I´m gonna get it! The song had and has still a very profound effect (no pun intended :D ) on me cos I realized that I have the right to my feelings like we all do. But that doesn´t mean or give anyone the right to hurt another person intentionally.

The picture is a bit blurry, but it looks really cool :) I especially like the shadows. Uhm, where is it? Is that your shoulder? I really can't tell.

Must be an age thing, I also got my first tattoo last year (and no, I won't be showing a picture of it online).

Yep, it´s my shoulder. And the tattoo was a bit dry when the photo was taken, that´s why it may look a little blurry.

Part of me getting this tattoo was an age thing for me too! :D

@ redbossfan sure, why not! :D

@ lisa I had a picture of a tattoo that I liked and wanted to be done to me but the guy who did my tattoo asked me if it was ok if he made my tattoo better than the one that I had thought and in the end result the tattoo doesn´t look at all like in the picture I had with me, it´s 100 % better! I like the shadows too! :)

I think I will get one eventually.
I'm thinking either a barcode on my wrist or arm, or a Buckethead tattoo.

Not sure which picture would be a good tattoo though.

Awesome! I'm a big fan of literary tattoos! Just can't decide on specific lyrics/quote for myself

Same for me :D I've had an idea for a tattoo I'd like to have for a loooong time now. But the song I want seems to change over the years (from Nightwish to POTF) so I haven't quite dared to go for it yet. Maybe some day. I'm hoping to have it by my 35th birthday... 3,5 years or less left to decide! Or what the heck, maybe I'll get BOTH Nightwish (Oceansoul) and POTF (Dawn)...

Thank you, redbossfan :)

The song i got lyrics from isn't actually my favourite. But it has special meaning for me and i knew i'd like to to see it every day like friendly reminder :)

I'm gonna get more tats in the future, damn, it's addictive

Cool link :)
Even though I don't think I'll ever get a tattoo (or at least not before I'm 30-35..), I like seeing them =)

I desperately wanted a tattoo when I was at my twenties, now I am 30-35 and I don't have any. May be when I am 40-45... :D

Oh I understand that fully. From the first thought of "I might want to get a tattoo" to actually getting it, it took me over two years. Now I have this idea of a quote from a book, but I think it is too much text for the place where I want it plus I'd like some picture to go with it and I am undecided as to what it is going to be. About a months ago I was at a point where I thought I might wanna go and talk to my tattoo artist about it and then the idea changed again, so I am not ready yet. It was the same with my first one. I had an idea, had a phone number of a tattoo artist I wanted to ask and then never called. Later I realized taht the idea was just not "it" yet. When I found "it" I immediately knew it was...

As for the quote I'm thinking about it's: "Wir sind alle Träumer. Wir schlucken es nur zu tief runter, weil wir immer wieder hören, daß man im richtigen Leben nicht träumen darf."
(translation: Each one of us is a dreamer. We just push it down deep because we are repeatedly told that we are not allowed to dream in real life). This has been a guiding phrase in my life for over 20 years now, so I'm sure I'll do something with it, I'm just not sure what exactly it is going to be.

I have two tattoos.

Image

Image

The first one dates back to 1997 and the second to 2006. I'm thinking of a third one including the Latin motto Nulla dies sine linea (no day without a line), but as I put a lot of time and thought into each tat, if I do get it, it won't be anytime soon.

I've decided. :) It just happened today and it feels right. I'll get it done a few months from now (because now is not a good time due to my temporary blood thinning medication).

Oh, Cags1162, that's my favorite line! Among others of course! :)

If I'll ever get a tattoo it'll be a line from a Poets' song as well. I even know which line but that will remain a secret. :)
