Thought I'd revive this thread.

I have three phobias that all are quite specific:

I suffer at a certain degree of aphenphosmphobia: Fear of being touched. It applies to all people, but depends on the person. I don't fear touching, only being touched (and not handshakes and the like). For instance, I often feel very uncomfortable if someone puts their arm around me, or hug me.

Fear of heights, but only when there's no 'fence' to prevent me from falling. For instance I can easily stand at a cliff and look down as long as there's a fence, but I can't stand on a chair.

Finally fear of evaluation, a type of social phobia. I'm not afraid of asking questions, but I am afraid that the answer will make me look stupid/be evaluated by others in a negative way, so I often make 100 % sure that I couldn't know the answer before asking for help.

Phobias are some strange things. It's not funny to suffer from more or less irational fears, it makes you disfunctional on several levels...

cheese-slicers. as mentioned before

also those big lawn mowers and razors. I know they shouldn't be compared to cheese slicers but they're still scary..

dragonflies, those big ones, and other big bugs (besides butterflies), bugs aren't supposed to be that big anymore, we're not in the neolythic age!! or whatever t's called

wasps. but that's quite common I guess...

I'm really afraid of using escalators... Also, I'm afraid of heights, even seeing people lean over a fence where they might fall off makes me sick. And I'm afraid of spiders, but only the big ones...

Me too. But I really don't like the small ones either. If I see spider in the same room where I am, I won't stay there. I'll leave as soon as possible. :D

And I think I'm afraid of butterflies. Well, actually only moths. I don't know why, but I think they are horrible. Maybe it's because of in the summer those are often in my room flying around. And then I can't sleep. I don't even know how they get into my room, 'cause I always keep my door closed. And I'm afraid of wasps and bees too.

^ I can't stand insects. They fly around.. they crawl... I always fear they'll end upon me, or worst of all, under the clothes... aaahhhrrr, but it's not just fear: it's disgust I guess

I'm afraid of dogs. And it's bad in these days because lately on the road to the center I've met a dog a few times (and it starts following me and barking).. and now I'm really scared of wlaking there. But the other way to get to the center is way longer. Truth is, the paths I go when walking totally depend on the trying to avoid places where I ever met some dog... -.-
Actually I'm afraid also of other animals.. it depends...

I've been thinking a lot about it, and the conclusion I got to is that I fear them because they're not "rational". You (well: I) can't predict what they'll do, how they'll act.. if for some reason they'll attack. It's a mix of fearing the irrational and a maybe also a matter of feeling "inappropriate": when I see that other people have no probelm with having them round... and I know that the animal will do them no harm... but still I'm afraid, I think it could harm me. Well.. actually I don't know exactly waht scares me: do I fear they'll bite me? Maybe I just fear the conctact...
I guess maybe I have other phobias, but this post was already even too long... :P

I don't like spiders at all. I was afraid of them, but nowadays I simply hate them because they can shock you with their look. Especially the big, dark and hairy ones. :?

About phobias.... I have one special, that could be called balconyphobia. I'm afraid of height but only when there's something that should protect me from fall. Standing on the edge of the cliff? No problem. But when there's any small or large wooden/stone wall that should protect me - then I'm scared that I'll fall down. Strange, isn't it? :?

And does paranoia count? :P Being afraid of things that people do behind your back?

I'm a bit paranoid too...

and I have necrofobia. or whatever. fear of dead things :(
started when I saw my granddad laying in his coffin.. he had been ill for pretty long and looked horrible... it has evolved into not daring to see dead people and avoiding to see dead animals and stuff.. I hate it when theres something dead near me :S whether it's a bug, bigger animal, whatever...

My only phobia is that the sky might fall on my head :|

:D

Ok seriously now...

Damn ppl you have some pretty weird phobias (for me:P). And I only read page #4 :P

Uncomfortable while being hugged? If a two-meter-tall, blue-eyed, blonde wanted to hug you, would you say no? :D

Afraid of escalators? How? :?

My phobias are normal I guess... I am afraid of my own blood but not like in minor wounds and cuts. More like when it's gushing out of you and it doesn't seem to stop. Had that once... could barely see... truly a f***ed up moment of life...

I don't fear the dark, I like the dark. Ppl can't see me when I'm in it :D But I fear what could lurk in the dark and can't see it. No, I don't mean monsters or ghosts or shit like that :P I mean muggers or junkies that could kill you just for talking back... Had that kind of encounter twice but fortunately I was with friends so nothing much happened...

I consider myself somewhat fearless... Wasn't always like that though. Had to fight a lot of things to become what I am now. You should do the same

I'm not afraid of my own blood, I can look on my own bleeding wound, thinking "Hmm, that's interesting, what a nice color!", but I CAN'T look on the blood of my relatives and those who are close to my heart. :|

I don't really know... I think it's partly because I'm afraid of heights.. I just don't want to step onto an escalator, afraid I might fall off... It's worse when I have to go down than when I have to go up, but still, if there are stairs near, I'll take the stairs...
And if paranoia counts, it's just one more 'phobia' to add to my list... :P

I'll revive this thread only because I'm REALLY scared right now. And if I don't let it out and stop shaking and looking everywhere I'm going to explode.

I DESTEST BUTTERFLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just my luck in this wonderful day I got stuck in an elevator and a BIG ASS brownish and black butterfly / moth came out from the ceiling. I screamed so loud the whole building thought I was being attacked.

Seriously.. I can stand the sight of them in pictures, television and even pinned in a plexiglas box... But that's it! I never even open the windows in my room after 5pm, and if one manages to reach me.. I scream and run like a maniac no matter how small it is. I can't stand the erratic flying and hovering arround me.. I cope with mosquitos and even flies and bees, but any other flying insect bigger than 1cm freaks me out.

I also have a very mild coulrophobia (fear of clowns) . I don't fear ALL clowns, I can coexist with ronald Mc. Donalds and some other insignificant ones... But those that ARE meant to be scary.. Nuh uh.. Which is weird, because I yawn throughout most horror movies. (I specially fear the clown from that movie 'IT').

I'm afraid of escalators too. I feel I might fall. C'mon! The floor moves!!! :O

Other than that, as far as i can remember, i'm afraid of reptiles, sunshine. Mostly I'm afraid of doing anything new.
