Would you like to hear my tour report? Because I have one!! RBF called my cell from the gig tonight and held her phone so I could hear CiL! My favorite song ever in the history of ever! And my report is that it was so beautiful!!! I heard the beginning and the first chorus and the tears came when I heard "I was your starlight...". I'm in California and I heard Poets live on my phone! From Finland to California...Thank you RBF, thank you so much for such a wonderful and amazing gift!! I will cherish what you did for me for the rest of my life, I kid you not!

Wow, Tobyanca, that's awesome. Amazing interaction between two PotF-fans and friends... 8)
Tonight's gig was amazing.
Hehe, I think I got some weird looks from the crowd.. or at least some of them. I guess it's funny, that me, big, almost bald dude, who was wearing metal band's hoodie tonight, was singing along CiL  (hopefully that came out clearly :) ) I didn't mind though :)

Amazing night!

@Donan, we saw you standing two or thre rows behind us,regocnized your shirt, looked for the matching shirt and found your gf too. I thought I'd say hello after the gig, but didn't see you any more then. Pitty

@lukess: hm, didn't see you I think. Sounds like you had as much fun as we did.

@tobyanca: thanks for the kind words on my reports. I'm always happy when people enjoy them. :)

Edit: a huge thank you goes out to Lisa, claudia72, serinde, Porthos13, sky_69, kazu and Vlad the Great for the pre gig and after gig fan meetings. It was amazing seeing all of you (again), laughing with you, sharing amazing moments at the gig with you. I hope you all made it home by now and all your trips went smoothly. I'm still high with happiness and I hope you all had as much fun as I did. POTF fans are really such a lovely bunch! I sure hope we can repeat this soon. *big hugs to all of you* :D

To everyone else I've met, huged and talked to: It was great seeing you again. If I start naming names, I know I will forget some, so I better not. ;)

Oh and to our two "first timers": I hope the gig was everything you expected and hoped for and we didn't promise you too much. ;) I also hope it will take some time for withdrawal to kick in (because I know you are POTF gig addicts now, just like the rest of us :P)

A full report on the gig shall follow some time this week. :)

Stef: Thank you yourself! And thanks to you all. It was an amazing evening and gig, and fantastic to meet you all. I had a wonderful time. I will definitely return to Helsinki soon to see POTF (and you!) again.

Yes, Redbossfan, it was such a great time with you and with all the other fans before, during and after the gig.
I wish/hope that I can do some more later this year :)

@Vlad yep, you have to come again to Helsinki visiting the "rock church"

Thank you to all -newbies or old-timer :P - who were with me this evening/night. Without you it wouldn't have been the same :)

the gig in Helsinki was stunning (that's the most accurate report I can give you :D )
Loved every moment of it.. our guys are just awesome beyond what words can say <3
Also, they seemed to be in a great mood, giving us funny moments too... beside the music ;) The acoustic set too was great (can hardly believe I got to hear Sorry Go Round and Someone Special ♥)

Hugs to all the people I met there too: we had some good laughs and nice times :D

Poets of the Fall, Temple of Thought Tour, 31.03.2012 Tavastia, Helsinki.

It's the little things that make you the heart of my temple of thought.

It might be long (and sound crazy or fangirl-y or… ah, you know I'm obsessed :P ) Dunno if it can count for a real gig report, it's rather a collection of impression. Read at own risk

It was April 25th when I heard a nice song in "Bones" fanvid on youtube. I thought, ok, not bad, nice guitar, pleasant voice, it's good... I also realized I had heard and liked other song from this band so I thought it might be nice to check them out, maybe they have something else worth listening. In my wildest imaginations I couldn't think that after 2 weeks I'd be deeply in love, after 2 months that baritone would be so familiar and dear and that I'd start saving money to ship their albums from abroad. That after 3 months I'd be spending ridiculous amount of time listening, digging the net and organizing my archive, that I'd write way over 100-pages long essay covering facts and commentaries on the band (yep, it's quite a novel, it's actually longer than my master's degree thesis was  ) That I'd be walking the streets with headphones smiling like a loony to myself and mouthing songs' lyrics and do an awful lot of other silly things. Lastly, if somebody would tell me then that in less than a year I'd travel 1200 km in straight line to foreign country on my own just to spend over an hour listening to the band live (when frankly, I should be saving money for a dozen of more reasonable things) I'd dub that person insane. But I did all of the above. The song was Carnival of Rust and I've just returned from Finland.

Never thought a music band would let me discover such a passion in me. Guys, you have to force of gravity of a real star (I know you don’t claim yourselves "stars" and it's wonderful of you, but you are the stars on my personal sky).

My trip to Finland could be easily counted as one of the most exciting, happy but also nervous days in my life. Well, I was terribly nervous till the last minutes before leaving home, as it was my first trip abroad alone and my first flights ever. I'm that kind of person with sick imagination which can give me the best of dreams but also the worst case scenarios. But everything went so smoothly. I arrived to beautiful Helsinki one day before the gig so I had some time to wander around the city, see some places and just enjoy being there. The whole time I was scribbling my thoughts in a notebook to keep as many memories as vivid as I can.

Next day arrived quickly and I just couldn't stand waiting in my hotel room. I was so happy to have my first gig in famous Tavastia (but the first day in Helsinki I just walked past the club without even noticing it). A couple of hours before the gig I went to a meeting with fellow fans. And here I'd like to thank again to all of you: it was wonderful to be a part of the group and share that day with you. And soon after that we saw first members of the band arriving at Tavastia. Then there was waiting, waiting and some more waiting, but it seems a fan always waits for something so I'm getting used to it. All waiting has an end anyway.

The gig soon started... and it might have been one of the greatest five minutes of my life. Seriously, I could swear it lasted like five minutes, I have no idea where I lost other 85 minutes of it. But it was simply rocking awesome. Both we in the audience and the guys on stage seemed to have the best of fun.

I couldn't have more perfect place in a first row (I owe you!) to admire the guys on stage. Ok, I admit, I was a bit hard to take my eyes off Marko sometimes, but I managed. Jari is the one a bit difficult to observe behind all the drums, but it was so clear he plays with huge passion. Captain is like the epitome of cool. Jaska – this awesome tattooed rockman, it was so great to see how much he enjoys playing for the crowds. Jani – his smile is the sweetest thing I've seen in Helsinki, period. I loved it when he came to play at my side of the stage a couple of times. Olli – he's so cute, but he's also a genius, so focused on playing. It was wonderful to see amazing dexterity of his fingers from such a close range. Whenever he played something acoustic I shifted my focus from Marko to him. I think I even managed to catch Olli’s gaze once and he returned my smile :D

And Marko... hey, what can I say. He's Marko. One hell of a performer. Stage antics had to be restrained a little cause the stage was pretty small, but still: crazy eyes and devilish smile (that parts of his stage persona that still scare me a bit) were there, splashing water – check, hugging band members – check, hanging around Olli during his most impressive solos – check, being just a tiny bit dirty – yep, check that too (and that has to be the reason why Poets gigs are K-18, not some club alcohol issues, I'm telling ya  ) And however weird is that remark, I noticed he has such a fluid movements... it was evident already in CiL video, but seeing it live makes even greater impression. Marko seemed to have a ton of fun during the gig, and it just makes me happy to see him smiling. The funniest moment of the gig had to be Marko laughing on the floor when Olli and Jaska messed up with the order in which they should come back to the stage for acoustic set. During the breaks between the songs Marko was talking, but of course in Finnish so I didn't get a thing but I hope he said that line about "taking care" as he promised in an interview.

And we all know Marko CAN sing. But what he showed during that gig... I was stunned, especially by Someone Special, it has to be the best version of the song, and the shout during LG duel with Olli – wow, exactly how long can he hold one note? Did he get that another set of lungs he mentioned in one interview? Well, of course, it might be just cause it's the first time I've heard him singing live, so I'm in no position to judge, but it was utterly awesome.

The setlist was the same as in Russia/Ukraine. No wonder, the guys clearly didn't have time to rehearse. When I saw what they played in Russia I was a bit disappointed for a sec that there were only 4 songs from ToT. I kinda anticipated to hear new songs + immortal LG, IaD, CoR and Lift. But then it turned out I'll hear some older songs which I frankly said goodbye to after Alchemy Tour ended. So I was really delighted to hear songs like my beloved Stay. And Roses. And Someone Special was really something special.

The gig was everything I could hoped for, I mean, I got a first row place, I got to touch Marko’s hand, I waved, I sang LG chorus, dishonesty (but stupid me, I forgot to have something to raise my glass) and shouted at the end of Lift. I also got a setlist (thank you!) and had the guys sign it. And something I really hoped for – I got to give Marko little gifts I made for the whole band. Funny thing, he was so into giving autographs then that he started to sign the gift bag too till I repeated it's a present. Then he tucked it away into his vest. I hope you liked it, guys.

As I said the gig was over way too fast for me, but it wasn't the end for my amazement. I know how all of you have been saying how open and nice for fans the guys are and how simple is that, but still I was bewildered – I mean, come on, I've been watching them on youtube for a year now and here I had one of them in a restaurant I'm just sitting in, and then after the gig I had Jaska hanging out with fans even after giving the autographs just like that.

The best came next day after the gig – with the ability to relieve the moments. During the gig I was too… overwhelmed and dumbfounded to even feel happy. It was kinda meditative state. And right after the gig… It's probably unusual to feel that way, but I was actually rather sad when I came back to the hotel that night. Like, ok, that's it, I waited for it for so long, I've dreamt of it and now lived through it and now it's end of the story? But the next morning, while I was saying my goodbyes to Helsinki, I played a playlist I made earlier, with the gig songs at order and memories were replaying in my head, I recalled standing there and shouting my lungs out and probably smiled like a loony. And then I came back home and at 4 am in the morning I googled first youtube videos of the Tavastia gig and it was all pure happiness. It's not the end of the story, it's just a great beginning. So even though I might be developing laryngitis right now (chill and singing at the gig wasn't good for my cold, I've lost my voice completely) and I think I've hurt my back by long hours spent uncomfortably in the buses (seriously, I can't move, but now I admire the guys even more for touring across the whole Finland in their bus) it was so worth it, I want a repeat already! (@redbossfan, I think I had the withdrawal the minute the guys left the stage after giving autographs). I am so coming back, I'll be there next time freezing my butt off for even longer if I have to. And I'll try to catch 2 or 3 gigs in a row so it'll be at least 10 minutes long

Such a wonderful report serinde. Thank you for sharing.
And yep, most of their gigs are over in 5 minutes (or at least that's what it feels like). ;)

Tobyanca that is just awesome! I didn't know it, so happy for you! :D

donan I missed your T-shirts... and you... :(

Serinde your report is fantastic! I'm starting to doubt we were at the same gig... But that's my fault, cos I don't remember almost anything about it! :| :P
No funny at all, actually... :(

Lisa, DID THEY PLAY SOMEONE SPECIAL??? And where on earth was I??? I don't remember that, at all!!!

Vlad the Great, aaah! so glad to know you are who you are, here in the Forum!!!! :D And I totally second you, here: "I had a wonderful time. I will definitely return to Helsinki soon to see POTF (and you!) again.", YEP! Let me tell you that you are "delicious" :) .

redbossfan, a huge thank you to YOU, indeed! And all the other wonderful people you mentioned, hugging you all! :D
About your "hoping": I'm having some memory-problems, at the moment... But sure the Guys played wonderfully, what was wrong/weird was my state, cos I was soooo absurdly quiet the whole time... No heartbeats, no tears, no goosebumps... I can't say no emotions at all, cos I sure delighted in the performance totally, but not as I use to do with POTF stuff... :|
But guess it was just my personal mood that influenced my feeling&acting, somehow...
I just know that I succeeded in watching every single member of the band, performing and that was just great, loved that, really! Aaand I also have to confess that (as I already knew) I'm an atypical fan, cos I really find hard to be at ease asking for autographs or pics; that's just not something fitting me. That's why I have to thank Porthos13 for signs on my booklet and two pics (still gotta see Olli's one but Marko is simply gorgeous in that pic  ).

I'm sorry, I've always thought my first report would have been a river of emotions but I have almost nothing to say instead... That is pretty sad... As there's the writer's block, guess I'm living "the fan-sharing's block"... :|

Awww claudia72, I am sure the memories will come back to you eventually. Maybe in bits and pieces, but still.

I was surprised you were so quiet at the gig, but you clearly were enjoying every second so I wasn't worried. The huge smile on your face said it all. :) The most important thing is that you had fun, anything else doesn't matter. Enjoy the feeling of having been there, wtach some videos maybe and dream about it. ;) I hope you'll make it back soon. It would be great seeing you again. Sorry we didn't talk as much as we could have.

And you think it's atypical to be shy about asking for autographs and picturres? :D I actually think that is the standard fan reaction: not to be at ease about it. :D
After all this time and all these gigs I am still shy about it sometimes

@donan: nice preview. :mrgreen:

@Claudia72

I stood next to you and often saw your happy smile and how you claped and sang.... actually all the normal fan stuff 8) so you probably loved it
At the moment I sit here with a grin on my face because you didn't notice that they played "Someone Special" Oh Claudia, your poor brain must have had definitely a blackout. ---- A little hint "They played it in the acoustic part" :)
But don't worry, I guess it's normal. After a Poets gig it's hard to get all the details at once. Take your time and your memory will come back. :)

@Serinde

Oh what a beautiful report. I was able to enjoy the gig again. Thank you so much for it and the details. They made me relive all these wonderful moments. :)

@redbossfan @claudia72 @Porthos13 thank you, I'm so glad you liked the report:D

claudia72 wrote:

thanks goodness, you too? I thought I'm the only one to experience the gig that way... I mean, I can be so crazy happy and excited just sitting with my laptop and watching an interview that I was kinda scared what the live gig will do to me. But while I definitely enjoyed it, I was rather cool about it. And as I said, the best came the next morning, and only now I'm able to be really really happy and touched I was there. So maybe you and your memories also need time :) And maybe a little help of youtube ;) Don't worry about having nothing to say, I managed to write the report only because I have a notebook full of scribblings and thoughts, without it I'd have nothing too.

Ok, there's one thing I wish I remembered, what song they played when Marko was shaking hands with the audience where we were standing... maybe I'd find it later on youtube.

As for being shy, I had no problems with asking for an autograph, it was pretty much all about giving the guys the paper and saying "thanks" with a smile after, but asking for a photo... well, that's a goal for next gig :)

I hope you find it! For me it's like this: I can hardly ever remember which song it was and however much I search youTube, that very moment is not to be found there. :D :D :D

Hmm, I recall he did something like it during Sorry go 'Round, at least I remember during that he said he wanted to touch everyone in the room and feel their skin :)

@Vlad, yep this one I remember, and this one is on youtube ;) but I meant other time, earlier, when I actually got to shake his hand, during SGR he was too far left... Haven't watched everything that's on youtube yet, but I have a nasty feeling that this one won't be there. Well, it's not that important. Though I'm very happy to find War from Tavastia, this one will be special for me

Hey you lovely people who were with me ....

I know that Marko shook my hand and I even know what they played during the gig (somehow) but to put it in any context to what - when - and why ? No I can't recall !

@ Vlad, you saved me from this "woman" now can you @Vlad and Serinde safe me from my amnesia? :?

@Porthos13 I'd save you gladly if only I recalled the whole gig better. We could be talking about the same moment of shaking hands, you were standing so close to me. I looked through the setlist and youtube videos and think it might be Roses playing then, but that's my guess, since there are no videos of it.

Hell, it looks more and more like some student's party - been there, had fun, can't remember much of it the next morning, lol.

@redbossfan thanks for your report, such a nice and fun read :)

I'm pretty sure the handshaking was in one of the first songs.. Roses may be, cos it was the 4th one :)

oh, and I was sure i'd written a post here after serinde's report  well, I can just write it again: great report, serinde! ^^
And one more great report from redbossfan too
Going through that and reliving all the memories is great: there are so many bits and moments that come to my mind again... and, even better, the overall feeling of it all <3
And I'd just spent almost the whole day thinking "I wish I could see POTF again soon"... now I feel that way even more

ps: Last year, after seeing POTF at Tavastia, there were A LOT of things I could not remember at all.. guess it's a side-effect of being exposed to too much awesomeness all at once ^^

redbossfan, again great report! :)
Thanks for your so nice words and glad to know I'm not atypical and that I'm in good company... Sure I hope to meet you again and get the chance of a talk, as soon as possible. :)

Porthos13, oh yes, guess you might be right and I probably loved the gig, indeed! :P
Hey, "Miss Understanding grinning through her teeth"! I just can see your face...
I saw the video of Someone Special on YT and I saw myself moving head, so probably I noticed they played it (cos really I can't think I was singing some other song while the Guys were playing SS...), but can't remember it right now...
Actually my brain is "under blackout" since a looong while...

serinde Aaaah what a beautiful news, yours! Now I don't feel so alone in having such a mood, thanks for your words, too... :)

... ... And now, once again I forgot why I entered here... :| I had to post a thing I remembered, but seems like it ran away from my memory.... :?

Great GREAT reports RBF and Serinde!! I LOVED reading them!!
@Serinde, my first exposure to Poets was also a fanvid made with CoR, A Supernatural one and like you, I sought them out after hearing it and fell in love, and also like you, I will be saying ""I've just returned from Finland", hopefully next year!!!

Awwwww! And I thought: "What the f... Stef does with her mobile" :? So it was you on the other end. :)

Yes that was me, sitting there with a silly grin on my face and tears in my eyes! Stef gave me a very magical moment in my life!

@Tobyanca, thank you! I really hope you'll manage to attend Poets' gig next year, fingers crossed, and then you'll be the one writing report :)
