The hallowed Donington turf has played host to some of the biggest names in rock over the years, and now YOU could join the list of elite alumni who have rocked out the Download horde.

We’ve teamed up with Marshall to support The Ultimate Band Contest – a beast of a competition that’s open to any band over the age of 18.

The winner of this illustrious contest wins a 1 year endorsement with Marshall, a full page feature in Kerrang! Magazine – and a coveted slot on the line up at Download 2013.

"Entrants and winners acknowledge and agree that their video entries become the property of Marshall UBC, which thereby has the right to edit, adapt, modify, reproduce, promote and otherwise use entries in any way it sees fit for promotion of the competition."

I don't think so.

If only everything was that easy... on the surface this competition looks really great. But... I looked into the terms and conditions. Apparently it needs to be an unpublished work, which feels like an impossible feat right now when POTF is touring.

And if I understand right the entry has to be a live video performance (and knowing POTF they would like it to be very pro and there will not be enough time for that either). Later on, if they were selected or voted to be in the final five, they would be required to go perform live at their own expense on November 17th which just happens to be only 1 day before POTF Germany tour.

They'd also have to give up the rights to their work and be available for press later on, which might prove to be difficult and might not even fit their schedule.

So, I wish I wasn't so negative about this, but it has "impossible" written all over it... at least for this year, maybe.
