"Here's my confession 'Cos I can't keep it in me": After listening to this album I realized that I should never assume how the Poets' album is going to sound. I love the album, but first time I listened to it, I thought it's a little bit commercial and cheap, with lyrics ebbed dramatically, and augmented up-beat songs. But after a while, like I adopted myself to the album and blended in its atmosphere, I started enjoying it and then loving it. I just can't listen to any other thing..!

Running out of Time is one of the best songs, every time I just feel I can't sit anymore while it's being played. :D

Temple of Thought, a very hard job the Poets did making such a beautiful melody for such long verses, it's one of the bests, undoubtedly. the lyrics are great. 8)

Cradled in Love sounds more Poets-of-the-Fallish to me, with lyrics and acoustic guitar, so it's one of my favorites, again.

Kamikaze Love is something I really can't understand. It's like they just felt they can't put up with it anymore and decided to finish its process ASAP. I think it deserved more than that. :| But still, it's splendid, and not a Sunrise song!

The Lie Eternal, one of the two I still call a little bit commercial.

Skin, it's unique, splendid, and poignant. That's all I can say.

The Distance, unprecedented, a song I always wanted to hear.

Show Me This Life, this is the first time that I'm able to pick the worst song of an album from POTF. It is cheap, really. I can't figure out how Poets of "the Fall" could write such a song. This is the song I can call "a Sunrise song", but I don't :P

Morning Tide, the least unexpected song, but it's good, after all.

The Ballad of Jeremiah Peacekeeper, one of the best songs I've ever heard.

The Happy Song, No idea... maybe I'm still not aware of being a psycho. A nice song definitely.

As I told before, my view toward the album is positive. I'm just better in mentioning things I don't like than things that I like.

I think...........YES!!!!! :D Most awesome album, not like any other or any formula, it's from the heart, and that's what makes it special!

I love the rocking out songs and have been listening to this cd as many times as I get a chance! 8) Can't seem to listen to anything else right now!

POTF music high!!!!!

Am I the only one who thinks Kamikaze Love ROCKS?

Thanks. Amazon says April 10th. But I don't know if that is when iTunes will have it or not. Probably around the same time though.

ALL songs are PERFECT! And each of them is unique! Image Image

My favorites are: "The Distance" and "The Lie Eternal". They sound so unusually for POTF...

And I like the CD's cover: https://twitter.com/#!/PoetsOfTheFall/media/slideshow?url=pic.twitter.com%2FA4ccvFv4

This is the best album of Poets of the Fall!

After the first time I listened to it my favorite song is Morning Tide .... but the other songs are beautiful too. Even Kamikaze Love, the song I wasn't so happy about after the 45 sec teaser.
It comes with so many unexpected turns. I really hope that the German version will be as good as the one on this album.

Okay, that are my first thoughts. I still have to sort my feelings out

Guys, it's a masterpiece! No doubts.
Congratulations!

I guess the most difficult question right now is: is it the best Poets album?
I listen Poets from the very beginning (before SoL) and I already gave up on answering that question. ToT is perhaps the most polished album till now, but i think SoL and CoR are masterpieces too. Each one of them has something special that can touch our souls. I'm glad to see that a band can still do music like that these days.

Congratulations again!

nope, I am on your side!

But the songs that hit me most were The Lie Eternal, Skin, Morning Tide and.. wait for it.. The Happy Song  and it seems I wasn't the one: I had some friends listen to it since it came out, and a bunch of times they've asked me to "play again that psycho song". Even my brother tried to pick the chords and every now and then is playing it on guitar :D
It's a mindblowing piece

btw: ToT in FLAC version with 2.1 speakers when there's no-one around, is something you have to try :P
(I hadn't fully decided if I'd get it from the Digistore while waiting to get the CD, but then I read Captain's message on FB, and... come on, don't they make you want to support them in any way you can? ^^)

Random question: do orders on Webshop and downloads from Digistore count for charts?

I completely agree with you guys .... i love kamikaze love ... it´s like the hardcore song of the single, one of my favorites in fact.

Anyway...the best CD ever....love every song .... skin, temple of thought, lie eternal, kamikaze love, cradled in love ... i wonder how do they manage to make such epic music all the time!!!!!

My favourite band has finally produced a "bad" album.

Don't really like it. ROOFT, CIL, TLE and TD are nice, but not as good as all the older songs I like. The melodies aren't as beautiful and the songs also sound too similar to my taste. Marko's voice is as great as ever, but the music isn't that good for the most part. It also feels like every third word Marko sings is "Love".

Maybe it'll grow on me over time, but it doesn't have these mind- blowing AAA songs each previous album has.

Yey, got my copy today. Gonna buy it from digistore too when I get teh cash. Too lazy to rip and that wouldn't benefit POTF would it :P

Also, sorry if I spoiled the album for some. I just thought it was "ok" to talk about it since everyone else was doing it. Yeah, got a bit carried away and I'm sorry. But here we are, it's here, awesome new music for the rest of our lives 8)

Perhaps the thing was the goosebumps for me as I couldn't find it in many of them

My most favorite songs are Kamikaze Love and Show Me This Life (at the moment!!)

I've been listening to the album whole evening (ca 10 times now, I think).

I was afraid to read thorough reviews of the album before for it might distort my own view of the album. And now I cannot resist sharing that view of mine… (though I don’t expect anyone to read it, I realize it's quite a wall of text, it just needs to be out there). So behold, my inner compulsive writer was unstoppable. Fair warning, excessive use of word "love" is to be blamed on Poets.

Nothing compares to the feeling of listening to a song for the very first time. Or rather the very moments before, my heart was pounding and I got butterflies in my stomach. After that the feelings got only stronger and stronger (I am a bit afraid to listen the album in public later  )

This album is SOL. No, I don’t mean it's like their first album, though I got somehow similar feeling. This album is just soundwave of love (and I am helpless romantic though I understand it might be not everyone's cup of tea). It differs from all of the previous ones, guys are experimenting a lot, the sound is fresh and playful. Everything is top-notch (that's normal). It is incredible, but Marko actually sounds even better that before. Every time I think his vocals can't be any better he proves me wrong :D It's admirable that he never stops learning. He uses his nice, warm lower register I love so much, but also lighter falsetto to enrich the songs. Rest of the guys are also brilliant, I especially love very "cinematic" powerful guitars (Olli and Jaska must have a blast playing new songs :D) and very distinct drums in most songs.

I love the album from the first minute, and it still gets better every time I play it. For sure it will be the only thing I'll listen for the next two weeks, pushing the stop button will surely be the hardest thing to do. But so will be throwing certain shards of lyrics off my mind.

The lyrics... sometimes I was surprised by their flow, but I will get used to it quickly. I haven't got the chance to carefully go through lyrics to each song and read something "more" in them, so this is just the first feeling: lyrics got kinda simpler in at least couple of songs. Not that they lack meaning, no, and they're still one of the most beautiful text ever written. But there were a little less cases when I went all puzzled "boy, and what did you even mean by that?" or had to use a dictionary than in other albums. Well, maybe I'm just more familiar with Marko’s poetry by now. Lyrics is one more reason to love the album as I found so many of them that suits me, the kind of things I could say myself. It gives the nice feel of belonging and connection.

Now a word or two about every song, starting from the one I like the most.
ToT – Listen, if you won't hear from me in the future that's probably because I was so hypnotized and moved by the song that I missed the change of lights and stepped in front of a car. I'm serious. This song... it feels like I shouldn't be listening to it at all. It's like for this man it's the most important song of his life and he sings it for the most important person in his life and I've just encountered them by accident. But his love for her is so unbelievably strong, that even though it's not supposed to be mine, still a stray wave of love warms my heart too. It is heart-warming but it's heartbreaking too. One more thing: the phrase "you're the heart of my temple of thought" is so beautiful, beautifully sang and so powerful, that if I ever want a potf lyric tattoo finally I know what will I choose. Fully serious here too.

RooT – This song is wicked awesome! Upbeat, rocking, great lyrics. It's fighting with ToT over the first place in my heart. For sure it's the first thing on repeat that will wake me up in the morning while I listen the album on my way to work. Oh, and the sudden ending – shocking at first, so cool when I got used to it.

Distance – Love it, the beat, the duality in chorus is ingenious and I like the theme a lot.

Skin – This one is so full of sorrow that it hurts. It was the one of the album that got me on the verge of tears. If I was to name the saddest Poets' song that would be Skin.

KL – Dunno why, the whole thing doesn't have the same effect on me like the snippet did (it was a crazy feeling, won't be explaining it). But I think it's my expectation to blame here. Sure I love it, but I hoped I will more :P Also one of the few Poets' songs where bridge doesn't work for me at all, usually they have the most wonderful bridges that draw me even when I don’t like the given song instantly (see TLE below). And, please don’t kill me now, but I really prefer the German mix... I still need to hear both to decide though. Last detail: I love the use of "hell" as an exclamation, it gives the sentence such strength.

SMTL – This one is fun and... well, flirting ;) It wasn't an instant hit for me, but after few times I think I'll really like it.

CiL – I've already said all I had on this one.

TLE and MT – I don’t quite feel them. I have mixed feelings about TLE, I can't help connecting it with Different Light, even though it's just one line there but the first verses are interesting from a certain fun point of view for me and the bridge is great so I'll give it a chance. But MT, while soothing and loving, kinda drags for me, I like ballads very much, but this is too much. And it reminds me of Dawn, I've never been a fan of that one. So even really masterful Marko’s vocal doesn't save this song for me (and I can't believe I've just said that).

TBoJP – this one just leaves me blank, don’t know yet what to think of it :?

THS – I like this song very much, but not as a part of the album, it doesn't fit here for me at all. Separately it's a great song, but I don’t feel like listening it after my SOL album

Now I have only one wish: to hear some of the new songs acoustically... And maybe somebody could prepare to pick me up from the floor of Tavastia...

Amazing album, guys! Great work!

My favorite song so far is Skin. I bought it on the Digistore and spread word of the album's release to my POTF-loving friends and social networks. Support Poets of the Fall!

I can remember the good times when I bought previous POTF albums :-

Going back to 2010, I bought Twilight Theater in CD form, paying a TON of extra money to have it overnighted from Finland to the States. But boy was it worth it as always :)

Going back to 2008, I bought Revolution Roulette in CD form, right as I was leaving my home state to have a 4-month internship on the other side of the country. The album arrived at my home mailbox a few hours after I left home, on the day that I boarded the train headed cross country on a 4 day vacation+travel trip. I had my dad rip the album to MP3 and email the tracks to me; I downloaded them using my laptop tethered to my smartphone over a 3G connection and listened to the songs for the first time while I was on the train. It was epic being on an exciting trip with brand new POTF in my ears! I got a few "looks" for having my mp3 player and headphones with me at the dinner table in the diner car   I took my headphones off to say "Sorry, I'd really love to socialize, but I just grabbed an extremely awesome new album from my favorite band so I'm enjoying it haha" and continued to eat my dinner  Because of this experience I will permanently associate Amtrak, Chicago and train stations with the song "Revolution Roulette" and its driving metal-ish melody

Going back to 2006, this is about when I first discovered POTF (or was it earlier?). Their first song I heard was "Late Goodbye" in Max Payne 2, and since then I've been a die-hard fan.

Ah, good times. I'm glad to see POTF alive and well in 2012. Their songs seem to somehow fit like a mold around my mood/behavior/preferences. It's uncanny.

I can't write anything about the album yet, I'm just too speechless, but I have a guestion about Skin. Can you hear what Marko whispers? I think the end of it is "...but carnival of... of rust".

Yeah, I bet Temple of Thought and Kamikaze Love would sound even better acoustically.

Like War, for instance. I don't care for the album version at all, but this, this is awesome.

Oh, wow. Exactly. The first time I heard Skin, I couldn't stop the tears. The same thing happened with Dawn back in the day, all it took was a couple of notes and wooaah the waterworks! :D

Wow! Whan an amazing album! I thought TT was perfect album until they inproved it with ToT :D I really can't say which is my favorite song at the moment because it changes in every listening( or something like that) :)
If I had to pick one song that is my least favorite one, even though it's great song, it would be CiL. :)

See you in Tavastia :D

Ok my turn. And FYI, this was my very first release of an album since I have been a Poets fan and I have had a blast, with the title tweets, the speculation and the countdown, all of it!!
I've listened to it all day today and the only thing I've changed my mind about is, it's not as good as I first thought. IT'S EVEN BETTER!!! This album is simply fantastic and beautiful and amazing. My favorites keep switching places so I don't think I can name any favorites, except for my fav 2 :P Still Cradled in Love is my absolute favorite of all time and Morning Tide tried all day to kick it out of spot #1, CiL held on strong!! Poets is the only band/musician where I like very single song on every single album, I kid you not. That just doesn't happen!! I will say a bit about each song in album order for anyone who would like to read it:

Running Out of Time: The vocals are awesome, I LOVE the way he sings "crazy running, like we're runnin' out of time..." and the music and the mix is great. This song had me bouncing around whenever it came on, couldn't be helped. I LOVE the abrupt ending...

Temple of Thought: The first line of the song describes it perfectly, chills running down my spine. The love in this song is palpable and the vocals impeccable, just perfect. Anyone who has a love like the love in this song is blessed.

Cradled in Love: I already commented on this song when it was first released but real quick again, this song has become my favorite song ever from anyone. The beauty and love in this song just exceeds anything I have ever heard. Someone upthread mentioned getting a line from a song tattoo. Well if I were ever to do that it would be "I was your starlight..." That one line says everything and I can't get it out of my head, even weeks after the initial release. This song is just pure love.

Kamikaze Love: I find this to be a fun, bit of a rockin' song. I LOVE the chorus and I would like to know where it is the angels fall. Also the line "what you live and breathe is why you're dying..." is brilliant and I can totally get that line...a little too much. Great song!

The Lie Eternal: First off, I LOVE the title, even tho I haven't quite figured out what it means yet, as with the song itself. It intrigues me. It's different and catchy and I want to keep listening to it, yet I can't really figure out what it means yet, what he's trying to say. I love the beat and the music and I will be singing along to this one over and over again!! I just want to know what it means...:) This one is in my top likes of the album.

Skin: What can I say about this one except that the sorrow in this song is ever present and heart breaking. This one brought me to the verge of tears. I can hear the sorrow in Markos vocals. And the part that starts "This house is full of stories we both told...", that whole part, magnificent song writing, it just tells everything. And the line "I have you tattooed on my skin..." this is where I tear up and when he switches into falsetto, omg, I don't even know what to say except to use the word that so many have already used, but it fits...masterpiece. This one is the top of my list as well, very high on the top.

The Distance: Different and AWESOME! I replayed this one so many times today! Every member of this band works so well together and compliments each other so well. I can hear everyones distinct contribution in this song! And the part at 2:30 and on in the track, I am just feeling the whole song and if I hadn't been at work, I would have been spinning around the room. Top pick again!

Show Me This Life: Love this rocking song, love the guitar work! And yes, I love the line "Just a fantasy away, your naked love laid next to me.." I have a lot of fun singing along to that line. Of course, it can be taken different ways. Literally laying there naked after or before love in the physical sense OR her love for him, emotionally, there and open for him to see showing on her face and not hidden away. At this point in time, I like the physical interpretation ;) I may change my mind when I realize I'm in my 40's and not really 17 anymore like I like to think I am :) Also LOVE the line "slice the light right off my sun with your razorblade caress of love.." love the line and how Marko delivers it.

Morning Tide: Oh here we go...this one is fighting with CiL for the most beautiful song ever in the history ever. From the beginning I am gripped by the raw and amazingly beautiful vocals, omg...and when the chorus hits, the vocals go from raw to powerful just like that and then back to raw right after. Just swept me away. And from 2:35-3:00, I can't even begin to describe how much the vocals just pierce right thru me and I HAVE to close my eyes, I HAVE TO. I think I can't listen to this song at work because every time it came on I couldn't do a single thing but listen.
There seems to be a favorite line in each song, and in this one it's "won't you come with me and hear the ocean sigh..." Once again, the simplest lines carry the most poignant meanings ever, wow. This song simply fills me with awe, and a little bit of longing...

Jeremiah Peacekeeper: I really want to discuss this song somewhere. I want to know who Jeremiah is. He intrigues me and he can be several people I think. Is he a literal old west peacekeeper as the title and music imply? But he has no gun. Is he just a man keeping his love safe and making sure there is peace for his love? Yet the song implies(IMO) that he is keeping the peace for the world. He could even be Jesus as the line "your wounds will be his scars..." could be our sins for his scars on the cross. And the line "the here and now will bow to him to serve only one purpose, to keep your peace..." possibly means worship. I know it says "when the night comes, he will need your open arms.." but that doesn't have to mean physically. It could mean you're open and accepting .
These are just thoughts and I know I will be thinking about this song for a long time to come. As for the song itself, I LOVE the western ballad music so much and the melody and vocals are superb.

The Happy Song: The rockingest(I know that's not a word, but it is now), happiest and funnest song ever!! I will never, ever tire of this song and to place it on the album in the last slot after such an emotional roller coaster of music is brilliant! It's like it's saying, "oh, you don't want to cry anymore?? You don't want to feel emotional pain and vulnerability anymore?? You want something to pick you back up after all the inner turmoil?? Well alrighty then! Here ya go!!" That song delivers!!! And the lyrics page in the PDF made me LOL so hard...it's so...short!! And the blood spatter, nice touch!!

Ok this was longer than I had intended, but I am finished now, at least for the time being, so if you read the whole thing, I hope I didn't bore you, and thanks for reading :)
I guess I could have just said the album is brilliant...:)

Listening to all these songs, I thought about the meaning of album title.
For me, cover of the album, two-sided card, is love. Temple of thought is love. What's more - it represents two faces of love.

Good and bad side. What could be good? Warm, care, closeness. Looking into the eyes, kisses and hugs. Sharing better and worse moments. Walking hand in hand through the common life.

But what's bad in love? Jealousy, psychotic desire. Locking someone in the golden cage. Loosing the meaning of being together. Blindness, when we're looking for the ideal person, but ideal just doesn't exist, but we belive in it anyway. Longing, lack of heat, coldness.

And in the middle of card/love, we're still between the light and dark side of love. We are cradled in love, but it's not always a good feeling. It's all about choices of what we are and what, where and how we want to be. One little step and we're on the other side of the border between good and bad love. But it's still love.

That's how I understand it ;)

Yesterday at school was pure pain, but as soon as I got home, I laid my fingers on the new album... Ohh the music is too good to be true... :P

My favorites at the moment are Temple of Thought, Jeremiah the Peacekeeper and The Distance. It will take some time for me to completely become one with the rest of the songs ;)

Got mine yesterday, and I've only listened to it one and a half times... Gotta listen some more, but these are my first and first-ish thoughts:

I felt at home immediately. There was not a song I disliked, even CiL sounds nice in the context of the whole album. I'm really glad that I had pre-heard the Happy Song, it would've been such a shock otherwise... The problem that I have with the album at the moment is that none of the songs seem to especially pop out for me in good or a bad way.
Don't get me wrong, I was dancing and wanting to sing along the whole album through, but my there was no tug in the heart or no irritation at anything, so... I guess I just need to listen to it more so that I can see and appreciate the colours of each song.
Also, I found the lyrics a bit meh on many occasions, I'm such a nit-picker but it bothered me how there were missing articles and typos at least in the leaflet. Artistic freedom and the individual needs of a song, sure, but...
Oh! And the thank-you pages were so cool! Congrats, DSoL and Redbossfan! Also, the afterthought was such fun.

I think this is an album that may need some growing into, but it was definitely not a disappointment.

The postman brought it to me too. Yeah! :)

I love all of the songs and now it starts like with every Poets album again! I fall in love every day with another song. Yesterday's digistore dl it was "Morning Tide" and today I'm totally in love with "The Distance".
It amazes me everytime how a new day can give me a new feeling for the songs.

Let's see what tomorrow will bring :-)
