@RedBossFan, wonderful post!! I can see why you were chosen to do the preview, you write beautifully!
And "masterpiece" is the word that ALWAYS comes to my mind when I am listening to Poets.

@redbossfan, yeah, that may be how it goes :) Anyway, a combination of The Happy Song's placement on the track list and the story of the trilogy is deliciously inspiring... :twisted: :lol:

For example: the trilogy tells about some kind of biography and SoL and CoR are about the birth, life and the "Luulot pois(/Beliefs away?)" thingy ( :P ) and ToT's about a person who has chosen the road of the trilogy. But now his/her "temple" is full of emotional and complicated and epic thoughts (= the lyrics & the music), there are almost too much of them to handle - and in the end the thoughts just become too tough and they overflow so that he/she just freaks out. :mrgreen:

I haven't heard the whole album yet, but I hope this process will happen to me next week when I listen to it. Which means the goodness of the album overflows and in the end I can freak out with THS. :P :D

@redbossfan I might be late with that but it's a great post :) So full of emotions and sincerity. It might be just me but do Poets really bring out everything the best in their listeners (like in me they do) or just we that very nice bunch of people to begin with? :wink:

And it may be irrelevant, but

redbossfan wrote:
For me, who is used to listening to music whenever I'm going somewhere, this is difficult, because I get so lost that I'm in danger of not paying any attention to where I'm walking (and I don't even wanna know what it looks like to people who are seeing me walking about with a silly grin on my face and/or tears in my eyes because I cannot escape the power of these songs).

I'm even worse, sometimes when I'm listening to music outside, I behave like I'm actually on a pretty good gig. I smile, mouth the words of the song soundlessly, tap the rhythm, snap fingers, soon I'll be doing the air guitar... :roll: I'm just so into the music. But I admit, I took me some time to learn to no longer care what people on the street think...

(sorry for an offtopic but since I can't really say anything on topic... :? )

The first session with the album:

What the [censored by trpiotrek] is that?! What a crap, please, take it away from me... Thanks to stupid pirates (read the whole post before you say something about that), I won't make a mistake and buy something like that.
So chaotic, so secondary, silly lyrics ("You're with me and I'm with you?" Oh, please!). Too many effects, not enough guitar. Repetitive themes in the construction of the songs. No, no, no! But I'll give it the second chance.

The second session with the album:

Hmm... Please, dear Poets, forgive me. I was wrong. Shame on me. I would kiss the earth beneath your feet to be thankful for Temple of Thought.

Running Out of Time - very catchy. Maybe guitar solo could be longer, but anyway it's good as it now. Nice as opening. And suprising end of the song.

Temple of Thought - chills. When I heard that, I felt them. It reminds me War. Or maybe War with traces of Change. At the end we could hear a range of Marko's voice, from high to low. And multiplied voice, mhmmm...

Cradled in Love - a few pages ago I wrote all my thoughts about that song (I think so...). One of the best from the album.

Kamikaze Love - I'm confused. It nicely flows in my headphones. Beautiful lyrics. But Marko sounds like he is tired and bored. Where's the power? Too simple, but not bad.

The Lie Eternal - amazing! From music to lyrics and vocal. I was left speechless. Great job, I'm proud of our dearest guys.

Skin - what can I say? If you ever lost your love, Skin will crush all the locked doors and go where your pain is hidden. It will open wounds and scars on your heart. Too emotional for me, I cannot listen to this without tears in my eyes.
BTW - i can hear something like "(...) but carnival of rust" in the background.

The Distance - do you remember Morandi? It sounds like mix of their music and maybe ATB. But it's very good! The lyrics brings me hope.

Show Me This Life - a new Delicious. I don't like songs about physical love, but SMTL gives me energy, I want to do something, dance, run, whatever. And once again - solo could be longer.

Morning Tide - Marko, please, sing like that more and more... Maybe lyrics are too simple, but with music it flows like... Like a morning tide.

The Ballad of Jeremiah Peacekeeper - I cry. I feel tears in my eyes every time I listen to this song. When electric guitar appears... Chills, tears, pain, sadness, grief. And a little hope. Hope to keep love alive. Hope to have strenght to fight with the world for love. Hope to have someone's hand in my/your hand.
Do you know "The Dark Tower" by Stephen King? "The Ballad of Roland Peacekeeper" could be a better title.

The Happy Song - look at description of Cradled in Love. But it's not the best. It's... Strange. I skip it every time. Maybe I have to be more mature or just that song should wait for its time.

And once again about pirates - I know that I too am the pirate, cause I have ToT from some shit*y_and_full_of_dangerous_traps site. But of course I'll buy it - with the t-shirt (if there will be my size) or without it. But Temple of Thought is worth more than my money.
It's worth more than Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Justin Bieber put together. It's worth more than the whole music industry. Cause ToT is a true music. And I believe in it.

Actually, I don't consider any of them as musicians, or any sort of artists; they're just performers... So definitely POTF's works are worth more than all of them themselves!

I will post my experience with the album, both first and next sessions with the album, after its release...

First of all thank you redbossfan for your posting about how you came to PotF and how you experienced the albums and their music.
You could do it one after the other but I wasn't so lucky because I began with CoR and noticed afterwards that there was an older album - SoL - .
I was really very astonished that I loved both of them from the moment I listened the first time to them. That never has happened before with any other band.
After that it was amazing that I loved all the following albums too.

I can't say if I will like/love ToT because I haven't listen to it. I could have listened but I want to experience this release properly.

Perhaps I'm a bit spoiled with all the lovely reviews and I still have to read redbossfan's German review.
Awww! But I couldn't resist to watch the video of "The Artist". Yeah! This was fun! Thank you soooooo much for it.

My friends pointed out that there is a leaked torrent available of the new album, so I had a quick war inside my head wether to wait until the 21st to pick up the real deal from my mailbox, or to download it.

I'm weak, I know.

To save this forum from a flood of superlatives, I'll just leave my compliments to one sentence: This album is the heart of my temple of thought.

Kamikaze Love, Temple of Thought and Show Me This Life are my clear favorites, but combined together, all the 11 songs form an ingenious whole.

The key to me is The Happy Song. When I first heard it separately, I laughed at the pure happiness Marko had with the microphone, and all the twisted sounds were just increasing the entertainment. Now I'm genuinely scared of the song. It's like an evil, grinning human skeleton waiting at the end of the album, reminding you that if you take enough damage from failed love and heart aches, you can lose your mind.

For me, The Happy Song affects the whole album. For example in the end of Temple of Thought-song, the effects added to the last lines of vocals subtly resemble the psychotic effects of Happy Song. It's like an early warning that "yeah, you may be in love now, but things will not always go as planned."

Morning Tide and Ballad of JP have this dusty and eerie, slightly pirate-like atmosphere, which makes the last song even more haunting.

Just my thoughts of this wonderful album 8)

It's just the same as the English one, nothing new in there, just more awkwardly expressed, because German is such a cumbersome language sometimes

I find it interesting how the views on the songs differ. :)

WOW!

@redbossfan

What you wrote was simply awesome, and it's because it came straight from your heart. The best things ever written come from there, and you tapped into it big time!

@TA

You are amazing! We can add videographer to your resume! I did indeed share with anyone I could on FB, and I hope they listen!

@trpiotrek

Yes, I know Dark Tower all too well and compared it to JP in my review....and was critized for it (not by anyone here), but hey, it's what I heard in the song, so glad to hear someone thought of it too! :)

@Tobyanca

Thank you so much for reading it! :) You are too kind :)

I'm disappointed. Cradled in love - the best song on this album. But it's worse ballad of POTF. Good for radio, but not for us, old fans.

the Distance sounds like A-ha, Duran Duran sometimes. It's good, but other songs... again and again the same sound, same tricks. It will be great if they'll make a synthy-pop, new wave album. They need in new sound. But album "Temple of Thought" is old dog without new tricks.

A-ha - Minor earth major sky and the Distance - i think, these songs have something similar and i like it. But not other songs...

Captain can make a good electronic sound. I think, this way for future band development. IMHO.

We are losing POTF...

Can you hear me?

So you saw the review and came to say "hi"? Hi! to you too. :)

Some thoughts in general:

While I do like hearing people's thoughts on the album, I really wish you would all wait until release date with those. It is understandable that you can't resist listening / downloading and I am not sure I could if I were in your shoes, but please don't make it extra hard for those who want to wait. Of course they could just not read the posts, but it's a bit difficult to avoid reviews in this thread if there are other posts here that might be interesting to read and not contain spoiler.

And yes, I am well aware of you thinking "it's easy for her to say, she has the album and has written her thoughts down". Yes, but I was asked to preview it and people can just not go to my site if they don't want to read it.
For those who are still waiting for the release day: I admire your strength and sorry for the comments I made about ToT here. I know I only made it harder. :(

For my part, doesn't matter at all. I've read the four 'main' reviews (only parts that don't tell about the songs) and it only increases my enthusiasm which is a good thing :D

@Raspu, neither can I! I'm so excited that it feels like I'm going to explode. About 5 days to go... :mrgreen:

Hah, I won't deny, you did and few more reviews did too... :P
But now I started avoiding some of the longer posts, where I see that "aha, he/she will comment the album" ^^

It's weird when I see people everywhere write lines from the songs and I just sit here like "okay... :? ". Usually it was me who listened to the album first among my friends...

But I will remain strong and even stronger, because I won't listen to the album immediately when I got it, but I will find some time on one evening and my mood has to be right for this too :wink:

Makes me wonder what would a house/lounge/downtempo PotF album sound like. This could be interesting, actually. :P

I don't want to listen to ToT before the D Day 21st of March, because it would feel like some kind of treason... To me, the date is symbolic.
