I've been listening to this song on repeat for a while and I'm loving it, but it really bugs me that I cannot figure out the words. I cannot find them online and while I'm fairly sure I'll be able to translate everything, it is impossible for me to write down the correct words just by listening (I know, I have tried before) .

So here it goes: Would any of the Finnish forum members be willing to write down the lyrics for me? Pretty please. *begs* (of course if anyone can find the lyrics online and give me a link that would work as well).

^^ maybe we can try together :D

But seriously, I can figure out the words I know, but that's it. Oh and I absolutely want to do a translation on my own - not that I'd be as good or as fast as DSOL is, but it's good practice and I really want to read the original words, not just a translation.

Thank you *huggels*.

This helps a bunch. I own a dictionary and a grammar book and I know how to use them ;)
For me it's great practice to translate something I am really intersted in. Not sure I can manage anything before my vacation, but maybe someone with better Finnish skills can help. *makes puppy dog eyes at noone in particular*

Edit:
*cracks up laughing* even of the half line I thought I understood I had one word wrong *hangs head in shame*

No problem. :)

Okay, this is my (sirkka helped me) translation of this song and this is just my interpretation... :)

Today my mouth is so dry and my eyes as well cos i've been crying all the time
And the sky is so gray cos' you're not here, you're not here.

Hold me tight, here and now
open your eyes for the rising dawn
You are the most beautiful light of love,
Hold me tight, here and now
open your eyes for the rising dawn
Before the yearning will fly away...
Before the yearning will fly away....

The curtains are hitting my ceiling
And my eyes are looking for your latest note
And I feel your close,
Your close.

Hold me tight, here and now
open your eyes for the rising dawn
You are the most beautiful light of love,
Hold me tight, here and now
open your eyes for the rising dawn
Before the yearning will fly away...
Before the yearning will fly away...

I almost want to run, so you won't catch me, because of that i won't lose you
Cos' i want to stay, i will give you the reason that you will stay with me

Hold me tight, here and now
open your eyes for the rising dawn
You are the most beautiful light of love,
Hold me tight, here and now
open your eyes for the rising dawn
You are the most beautiful light of love,
Before the yearning will fly away...
Before the yearning will fly away...

Thank you for the translation _Maria_ and sirkka. :)
Mine is a little rougher, but essentially the same.

I'll also join with huge "Thank you" :) It's fun and lovely, if I can comment on the song itself, now that I know the meaning I like it even more :D

Well here's my English version of the song I did just for fun, and as an extra spice, I tried to translate it into a form where you can sing it. Waiting for the tablatures...

It's time for my mouth to resemble a desert once again my eyes' rivers are running dry
And my world is drawn in greyscale colors when you're not here, you're not here

Come and hold me tight, here and right now
greet the dawn with your two beautiful eyes
For me you are, the most brightest light of love
Come and hold me tight, here and right now
greet the dawn with your two beautiful eyes
Before the yearning soars to its wings
Before the yearning soars to its wings

The waves of rooftops break down rushing
against the curtains of my silent room
And my glance is seeking for your latest message when you're coming close,
you're coming close

Come and hold me tight, here and right now
greet the dawn with your two beautiful eyes
For me you are, the most brightest light of love
Come and hold me tight, here and right now
greet the dawn with your two beautiful eyes
Before the yearning soars to its wings
Before the yearning soars to its wings

I'm almost wanting to run, so you couldn't catch me and I wouldn't lose you
Because I wanna stay 'n come against you and never let you go

Come and hold me tight, here and right now
greet the dawn with your two beautiful eyes
For me you are, the most brightest light of love
Come and hold me tight, here and right now
greet the dawn with your two beautiful eyes
For me you are, the most brightest light of love
Before the yearning soars to its wings
Before the yearning soars to its wings

Thank you Juzi, it is a bit different from the other translation, but I get the meaning of the song very well. :)
It's always so hard to put a poem into another language because every language has it's own feeling and terms ... :)

Yep, you are right on that one. There could be a dozen more different versions from this, still telling the same story :D

Thank you Juzi. :)
The words you are using are closer to what I translated, but my version is not as poetic.

YEP! The same here :)
I suppose only Marko himself can give a pure translation of the song, and to have its meaning it's enough. Unfortunately I don't know Finnish at all, so I can't totally "feel" the song as in English... I just can notice that the words sound very good... When I'll learn Finnish enough, I'll be able to appreciate this beautiful song in its entirety...

SEE YOU IN FIVE, TEN YEARS THEN!! :P

Thank you _Maria_, sirkka and Juzi, for the lyrics and translations :)

I like the song and the sound of Finnish language  I try to follow the lyrics as Martti Saarinen is singing but it's not so easy! I really need to find a Finnish teacher now...

Not sure why when I'm probably going to try a full guitar and vocal cover at some point (singing Finnish is fun heh). I've got the English pronunciation lyrics (for singing allong) figured if anyone wants.
