Hi I am new here but have been listening for quite some time.

Why are Jari, Jaska and Jani not officilay in the band?

I thought they were only used live due to the way the songs were mixed in the studio all parts could not be played but on twitter it has a picture of Jani playing in what is presumably an album track.

Can someone explain to me why they are not in the band? Thanks

PS: Sorry if this is a noob question.

AFAIK they've been in the band as the live members and most of the 3 previous albums are produced by our 3 Poets of the Fall (Mark,Captain & Ollie) 8) and they've been involved in the album production recently(especially Jani and Jari,I'm not sure about Jaska :? )

Marko was talking about that in some interview long time ago. He say that they prefer to keep the band small and tight. Reason: Less members, less conflicts.
I like the current setup, it's perfect...

Yes, that's pretty much how it is. The first three albums were made by M, C & O alone. The next album will be the first with all the six members playing / singing.

As long as the Poets of the Fall style stay intact, that sounds fantastic. By style, I mean the awesome, and poetic lyrics, and of course Ollie's Guitar, and Marko's Vioice.

I hope the new album will feature some sort of background choir (Jani, Jari, Jaska, Olli and Cap) on one of the tracks. :P
I love choirs

Agree, I hope their sound won't turn too 'live' sounding from this move.

I tried to post this earlier but it wouldn't work.

So, they play live with the band, appear in the videos, help to record songs but aren't in the band? That seems unfair on them does it not?

There are no official government records anywhere that tell if you are "in a band" or not. If you'd like to think that they are "in the band", then for all intents and purposes, that's how it is. :) In reality, there's only a group of people, and each person works in slightly different areas so that everything works as a whole. Some of the guys work in the studio, some in live situations, some take care of websites, art design, production, etc. All that forms what we call Poets of the Fall.

(And like already stated, up until now, the "other 3" have not been involved in making of the albums. The upcoming album is the first one where you can hear them play.)

What about the singing mentioned early? Any new voices?

Yep, but the version where the whole band sings will be released only as a very limited collector's item edition...

around 15 euros mostly
I've paid more at festivals and less at some clubs, but the ones offered at tiketti all cost 14 or 15 euros (+ booking fee/postage)

Now that the guys are under Live Nation, it's easy to check the ticket prices from one single page:

http://www.livenation.fi/artist/poets-of-the-fall-tickets

(Ok, you still have to click a couple of times, and there aren't direct links for all gigs, but I'm sure you'll figure it out :))

In general, it totally depends on the venue, day of week, country and city, etc.

Half Light wrote:

The same applies here - it depends on the gig. Sometimes ticket sales does not affect at all the sum artist gets, sometimes there's an agreed percentage which varies from gig to gig. It can get quite complicated since there are so many parties involved, and different ways to calculate & share the money.

It can be a mistake to let three other cooks in the kitchen...

but I think that it'll make the music more complex, - and they'll grow as a real band.

aaaaand finally real drums and bass-lines everywhere.

Not too sure about someone else singing (even in the background)...
(but now on livenation, maybe we can here madonna singing on a PotF record - and remember she's a virgin  )

But high hopes here overall...

looked up on tiketii or whatever :P and saw the sum.
15euros is not that much.i would gladly pay to see them perform in my country.
i spent much more for less fav bands. :)

back to the main idea of this topic now. :P

Hahah!

I'd actually want to see something like this. I wrote to PotF's wall on Facebook a request about DVD. I mean, it would be amazing to see "behind the scenes" on DVD, right? :) And ofc some gigs and maybe some studio working, interviews etc.

And this was all out of topic, sorry. :?
