Do Poets ever play any covers at their gigs?
I haven't seen any cover performance in any of the live videos I've seen so far...
It would be cool to hear a cover of a popular song, played with Poets' style :P
Sometimes I even like more cover versions than originals, like ummm... Live and let die by Guns N Roses and many others.

On some of their early gigs, they played Hazy Shade of Winter (by Simon & Garfunkel). Other than that, I don't think they have ever played any covers. However, they might record a cover of a well-known song in the near future.. stay tuned. :)

Darn, that leaves space for a lot of speculations. :D My suggestion: Macarena or The Ketchup Song

No serious, I guess it will be some sort of song which had a huge impact in their style. Some sort of progressive or industrial song, I would die for a Pink Floyd cover...

I would love to hear a POTF version of Learning to Fly by Pink Floyd... But he said it would be a well known song, and this is not the case.

Ummm covers of well known songs that I would love to hear (from Poets):
Blackbird by The Beatles
Sweet Child Of Mine by Guns N Roses
Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton
With or Without You by U2
And maybe Enter Sandman by Metallica

Yeah thing is everyone knows Pink Floyd but none of their songs, what's quite sad. But I think a lot of their songs were Marko's inspiration, there are so many similarities in their song titles and lyrics, what could be of course total coincidence, but that I doubt.

Time will tell. :)

The only song referring to "Learning to fly" goes something like this
Quote:
I'm learning to fly... but I ain't got wings
Coming down... is the hardest thing
I'm learning to fly... around the clouds
What goes up... must come down

But I guess that's not the song you're referring to... far as I remember, this was from Tom Petty...

But since they already covered Simon and Garfunkel, why not cover their song 'Cecilia'? or 'America'?

I'm not a big fan of Pink Floyd actually, but I love this song.

o_O

Pink Floyd - A Momentary Lapse of Reason / Album / Song Nr. 2 on it = Learning to Fly.

I hold the CD in my Hand, no daubt that Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have a song called Learning to Fly too since i also own that CD but Erikcq is quite right. :D

Wow, what a surprise. That would be awesome, I guess the reason is some kind of a compilation or something similar? Let's try to guess now which song it could be... :D

Now youve done it. I can already hear Marko singing 2Maria-ha, Maria-ho..." (or however that stupid song goes)
*laughing so hard I cannot breathe any more*

But seriously, I am curious now and I would have loved to hear "Hazy Shade of Winter" (me likes)

Just as long as it isn't a Backstreet Boys song. Lovex covered a Backstreet Boys song and it kind of killed me a little inside, Backstreet references hurt me right in the childhood.

That said, I'd love to hear a PotF cover of Eric Clapton's "Leyla." C'mon, it's got the most awesome intro of any song ever! And Ollie'd get to show off his jazz roots! C'mon!

As a rule I think Covers are cop-outs for people who can't write their own stuff. Since PotF clearly CAN write their own stuff, I never anticipated a cover from them.

Just wanted that out there.

(still rooting for "Leyla")
