You should definitely listen again to Carnival of Rust... well, there are clearly violins, right at the beginning, these are instruments from string section. I'm not a music expert, but I suspect there may be violins there. That was the point of "real instruments".

Awards... well, they are indeed important, but... why exactly Grammys and Billboard Awards? As it was all about being important in USA, whoa. I guess that's what you meant with the "altern rock" genre? I don't really know how American market works, but it seems to be kind of divided into these genres that radio stations actually follow, like urban, urban contemporary, modern rock, dance radio, etc. It's weird.

Amen.

I would never even dare to tell the Poets what to do as far as what kind of songs they should have on their albums, or any band, for that matter. It's obvious they know exactly what they are doing. Let the Grammys and Billboard come to them, not the other way around. I'd rather they follow their hearts than follow a genre. If that means no Grammys, so be it. I'm here for the music, not the trophies.

Well you are right, it's weird. But you know sometimes it pinches my heart like after releasing so many hit songs...still poet didn't get a single nomination for Grammy or billboard. :(

It's my belief that band must get awards which they really deserve.
:)

Why should Poets play for the music industry, only for winning a Grammy or something other award? They create great masterpieces and opened my mind for a new sight of life. And that's why I love them and their great melodic and f***in cool rock music. Music is about feeling and thoughts in your mind, about friends, about love, about war, yes about all the things in our world. Many musicians forgot it and just play for money now. POTF must be indie, it's cool and different, not pegged into a scheme. I hope there'll be a time if bands don't play for markets but for people. At this point, look at great non-commercial musicians like Don Ross, Andy McKee or Matthew Santos. They all have succes and travel around the world, but their own meaning is: music is emotion and beautiful art, not fame and honourings. I wish there would be a rebellion against major-stuff, an 'indie-revolution' against nonsense commercial productions. A revolt of the base of music. A social music revolution.

Poets could be the spearhead of this movement. I mean, the Revolution Roulette has already started.
