I'm guessing she wouldn't be saying "thanks" otherwise... unless she was being ironic

A Lift music video for the game STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl.

It's quite comical because they lip synced it up so Marko is Doc.

on my first playtrough on alan wake. i was in that warehouse at chapter 4 (or 5?)
there was that radio turned on. then suddenly "war" started playing and "hey, this song is good!"

then taken started appearing out of nowhere, i fought it off with all i had then the song came into the reff, then "OMG WTH WITH THE MUSIC IT'S AWESOME!!!!!" i quickly kill all takens ,and finished the chapter, then it played again in the end of chapter. turned off my xbox and rush to PC and googled "alan wake end chapter soundtrack list" then i finally find it, a band called Poets of the fall, then youtube-ing it. heard some songs, then fell in love with it :D

A little more than one year ago, at one late night, I was browsing for new 'food' for my iPod :D alas new songs I might like. So on some forum for a game I was a member of, I looked at the character biography from a Finnish friend and she linked Carnival of Rust as a mood song for her character there or something... at least there was a player playing this song on there. I clicked "Play" and as the first few chords began, I already knew I liked it. A lot. So I put it on my iPod and listened to the full song later when the laptop was off and I had to go to bed. And then my love deepened... I listened only to CoR for a long time, it was my special baby on my iPod, I didn't dare to look at more from those particular Poets of the Fall for a long time because I was afraid of being disappointed at the rest of their stuff, because surely nothing could be more fabulous than this song. But one day I decided to finally do it, and - I was everything else than disappointed! I was stunned beyond words! So I bought every song (digitally at first, because buying CDs via Internet is difficult for me as I have to convince my father first) and became a big fan, I would say.
And I am forever grateful to my Finnish friend even if it wasn't her intention to get me to POTF personally. If I am able to meet her in Finland next year she'll get an extra hug for that :D

It was on February 17, 2008. I had some trouble with my computer and I asked my brother to come to my home and see if he could do something to fix it. As he was working on it, I heard a music playing. (My brother likes working with music :) ) This was totally new to me... I asked him: "It's lovely, who is it?" and he told me that the song was called "Stay" from the album "Signs of Life" by a Finnish band almost unknown here in France :( I immediately fell in love with the song and the album and then I discovered that there were 2 other albums at that time. :D
That's how I discovered the band I adore now. They're part of my life... I finally found the music I'd been always searching for.
I'll be grateful to my brother forever. :)

Youtube, by sheer luck though. the video featured the song 'you know my name' (it was the potf version, obviously) but in the tags it said Chris cornell. I searched him and realised the song didnt sound the same. A week later, i looked at the video again and saw that next to other Chris Cornell related links, it said Illusion and Dream- poets of the fall. Listened to that. The rest is history.

Lift was all over the radio, and I really couldn't stand the song with its happy and upbeat sound. I was determined to doom the wretched band behind the song to the deepest circle of my loathing. But then I heard this dark song about how it is to see behind the pretty lies that people tell each other every day, this beautiful song about the darker side of mind. I still remember the dark evenings I spent crying in my loneliness listening to that song, the bitter sweet smile it lifted to my face whenever I felt like an outsider, the intoxicating peace of mind it gave to me in my darkest hours.

After Illusion&Dream came Sleep, Shallow and Late Goodbye, and Carnival of Rust was the final nail in my coffin.

Funny enough I still don't like Lift :P I can finally stand it, last year was the first year when I was finally able to listen to it and appreciate it, but I still don't like it too much.

Darkness_of_Heart, I second what you said about Illusion&Dream. That song really helped me let the pain out in dark times. And in this life, dark times seem to overwhelm the bright ones...

I discovered Poets thanks to a social site. One day I met this person and looking at his profile page I see these video (CoR) by Poets of the Fall. At first I din't saw it, but I did look for some info about the band. After that my curiosity grew and I had to look for the video. And wow glad that I did because when I saw the video and hear the song I was amazed by such masterpiece and that beautiful voice that I instantly fell in love with the song and the band. :D

Back in the 2005 I was scrolling my dad's computer and it's music files. I found Lift and Illusion & Dream, listened them and fell in love straight away.
Then something like a year after that in 2006, Carnival of Rust was released and I saw the video of CoR on MTV. Then I also found out that Poets of the Fall is a Finnish band, which made me more interested.

Then again a year later in 2007, my mom bought me Signs of Life, because I said I would like to have it. I listened the songs on the album, only Lift, Illusion & Dream and Late Goodbye in the start they being the first songs I heard from PotF. Later I started to like the every other songs on SoL and soon I bought Carnival of Rust, too.

From that day, I have been a big fan of PotF and loved every song they've made :D

For me - believe it or not it wasn't Max Payne 2!

I was aimlessly browsing the internet one day back in 2003 just after the release of Signs of Life - I think it was the forums for a Half-Life mod called "Natural Selection." (Which is amazing and you should all buy the sequel :P)

Anyhoo - browsing about the forum and I see a signature of the old wallpaper "Without silence there can be no music." So that spoke to me as something very cool, and I typed it in google, found the full wallpaper, through that found the site, and the rest as they say is history. It sucks being in Canada where like 3 of my friends listen to Poets :P

I heard "Late Goodbye" in Max Payne 2 (As did many other, I can imagine. ) and I loved this group imediately.
So I found their album "Lift" and after that I got every album that came out. Even found an old demo album from when they were PlayGround. Even that was cool and had several really nice songs that really deserve a remake (I think. =P Like "For sometime now. Really cool song.)
And the last song, "No end, no beginning" is my new fav.

I can't WAIT for their new album.

i i've started to listen to POTF just 2-3 months ago when first info about participants of my favourite Stare Misto fest leaked into media. so i've started wondering who are those Finnish guys because i always loved Finnish music! i'm kinda quick in these things - i "smell" good music instantly! so i went to Yuotube to watch some videos and the first was Dreaming Wide Awake and Diamonds For Tears. and then i am here!))

It's purely coincidental that I discovered POTF. My music is on my computer, but I usually use my father's notebook. I'm absolutely obsessed with music and so I started to use simfy to listen to it. I clicked on a button for similar artists to Sunrise Avenue and heard the song "Passion colors everything"... and I LOVED it!

Discovered them through the end cradits of Max Payne 2, but it took a year or so to embark on a journey of exploring who the really are. They managed to snatch no.1 on last.fm form my favorited band at the time

My dad had an old CD disc that ran the original Max Payne game, i only saw how the game looked like and remembered the music. Only the music was what i knew about it and its slow-motion bullet-time style gameplay. Years have passed, i grew older, blah blah... i got interested what was behind all that. And i was blown away.

I love the game from start to finish, i take the game with my, whereever i go... Litterly! I got this USB-stick as a key-chain and inside it is the game. I love Sam Lake's masterpiece of a game in many ways, the story, the character, the way it reflects life and how it makes you think about life itself. Ofcourse, i knew that there was another game, so my second quest began....

I loved that game also, for the same reasons... The only thing i did not like, was the fact that they didn't use Sam Lake's face for Max Payne anymore, but that aint a problem. I remember mona singing in the shower, singing "Late Goodbye" but i didn't know it was a real song of an awesome band. I noticed that the cleaner sang the same song, which was hillarious but not an accident. I loved the piano version of the song too (hell, i can play it in real life!) but it didn't really bother me too much. Game done, roll the credits.... except i was using a mod while playing the game called Payne Effects 3... which removed the credits so i could hear the full version of the song.

How do i know about "Late Goodbye" and POTF? Thank the lord for Wikia's.

I was checking out a wikia of Max Payne and read that in the second game there was a song that was sorta the main theme of the game. I was shocked, and quickly searched the title of the song and the artist and i was blown away.

I love the genre of the music, the lyrics, the singing.... Just brilliant. Quickly searched for more songs and i became a fan in an instant.

Currently my favorite songs are "Late Goodbye", "Fire", "Sorry A'Round", "Illusion and Dream" and "Locking up the sun". But my alltime favorite is "Someone Special". It makes me feel happy and glad about my life.

Ya still reading? Give yourself 10 extra life points and a meet 'n greet with POTF. Rofl.

Keep up the awesome music guys. Peace :D

This little PotF - fanatic (?) discovered the Poets more by accident. Searching on youtube for (fanmade) musicvideos that idolised Stargate Atlantis ... one of those featured Locking Up The Sun. After watching that 5 times I was hooked and saw the original Vid (LUTS) followed by CoR, Late Goodbye, Diamonds For Tears and Lift.
Now I listen to them for more than 6 Month and I'm as happy as I had been that day :)

@ Apollooo Thepoet might be silent now but that will change soon my nick on the other hand will not
